    Cablevision/Optimum/Altice Will Not Support This

Was told by staff in the store that this would work with Cablevision/Optimum/Altice Internet on Long Island -- the device was not supported and the cable installer forced me to get the router from Cablevision/Optimum/Altice which of course is crap. Failure for me all around.

Bought new last year. Stopped receiving signal all of a sudden and could not log into the IP to reset the modem. Had a site bug that would log off when requesting manual reboot. My first experience with the brand and first time having and hearing of a modem issue. Going back to Netgear.

Haven't been able to get it going. Thought it would be a smooth transition based on reviews, but have had to jump through hoop after hoop and still can't get it to work properly. Will be calling the company to figure things out, but it doesn't work, will have to return it.

Do yourself a favor. If you're thinking about buying this modem DON'T. Get the Netgear CM600. It's only 24x8, not 32x8, but there are very few providers running 32 downstream channels ( Xfinity only has 12 in my market) and by the time you need that many channels DOCSIS 3.1 will see widespread deployment. Arris has lost this particular customer for life.

After having, and using modem for two months all lights on modem went out. No apparent reason for this happening. We've switched out cords, and outlets, and still nothing. Thanks Arris, for money well spent. Thanks for selling me a product that's completely undependable.

Better check with your Internet company to see if it is compatible. I bought one and then found out after the return period that it was non-compatible so I was stuck with it. Gave it to Goodwill.

Arris make some really nice modems, one thing good about them is connect and forget, they just work, i have upgraded from SB6141which has 8 download bonding channels, SB6190 has 32, my ISP supports 16 now, i bought this to future proof it for at least 3-4 years, it literally took me less than 5 minutes between unpacking it and up and running, using it with 200 Mbps connection. if you are thinking for buying one i would recommend to buy 6190 as compared to 6183, as it will have lot of room to grow until DOCSIS 3.1 is out. One thing i have noticed on the front panel is that the lights are not very bright and they wont blink as compared to SB6141. they stay solid color in green and blue. it is important as mine is sitting in Entertainment Center, SB6141 i placed it behind equipments to avoid the blinking bright light. Tested the speed and i am getting 230 Mbps consistently. i am using multiple Apple Airport Extremes connected via ethernet on my network and everything is working great, do not even have to reboot any apple router. this definitely a winner modem. i wish the price be around $100 not $150, my only gripe.
