Happy consumer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unfortunately we returned the modem, because Spectrum required us to use theirs. We did buy a router at Best Buy that has been awesome.

Good brand but slow speed.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Could not get the advertised speed from this modem even with fast service from Comcast. It was easy to hook up however. Returned it and bought more expensive unit.

Good modem for lower speed access
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've used Arris modems, and their Motorola predecessors for 10 years now, so when I needed a new one, I didn't hesitate to select another Arris. The store rep suggested the lower-priced model for my 75MB Comcast access; I should have listened to him. I decided to buy up one step to the SB-6190, perhaps to "future-proof" my investment a bit. A couple of months later, I've replaced it with a TP-Link TC7650. It turns out that the SB-6190 has the Intel PUMA 6 chipset, which has a known issue of slowing down Internet speed, requiring reboots at least once a day to "refresh" the device (which is essentially a small computer). My SB-6190 has the latest firmware update, which supposedly fixes the issue, but it didn't. If someone subscribes to lower speeds, the problem wouldn't occur, or they'd never notice it, but the whole point of the SB-6190 is all the extra channels for optimizing higher speeds, so if it can't reliably support higher speeds, it's useless to me. Other Arris models are fine; none uses the PUMA 6 except SB-6190. Avoid it! Or look at Zoom, TP-Link, maybe Netgear. Look for a Broadcom chipset. The TP-Link is really nice, and doesn't have the glaringly large, bright LEDs of the Arris, so it's less obtrusive anyway. I requested that Comcast remove the SB-6190 from their list of supported modems; the tech I spoke to agreed and said he personally has the same unit and the same issues, and that they receive many customer calls to troubleshoot this issue, which is basically unfixable. You've been warned...

Time warner customers beware
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for the speed and to future proof. Though time warner says it is on their approved list, I think it was recently added and they didn't even know how to really activate it.

Good modem but limited upload speed to 10mbps
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.5 years ago I would rate the SB6190 5 stars but today if your on COX cable they won't let you have an upload speed faster than 10mbps even though the modem rating from the MFG states 262mbps upload.

Lots of packet loss, Not good for N speeds
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this modem after reading the reviews. I recently upgraded to Cox's fastest advertised speed, their Ultimate package. This router was supposed to work well, but I have since discovered that there are excessive amounts of packet loss and uncorrectables. I now receive errors just testing the speeds via speedtest.net. I will be returning this for something different.

Fast & simple router for every cable connection
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With local internet providers delivering gigabit speeds, you've gotta allow the bandwidth in and this router does the trick.

DOCSIS 3.0 Not Capable of 1.4 Gbps With Xfinity
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The box lists a lot of cable providers and states it is capable of 1.4 Gbps download speeds. This is true, but it depends on your ISP. Xfinity requires DOCSIS 3.1 for speeds Gbps speed tiers. This modem peaks out at 500 Mbps. This is fine for most people, but this device may not be right for you if your ISP limits speeds for DOCSIS 3.0 devices.

A big disapointment
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have used five modems in the last 23 years. The SB6190 is the worst of them all. It generally performed well, some latency issues but totally quit after just seven months. No LED'S, no power and it wasn't the power supply. Arris will send a replacement but they were not very efficient or cooperative. It took three calls to arrange a return because of incompetence. I had to buy another modem because I couldn't have to down time. I bought a Netgear modem and will use the replacement Arris as a spare if ever needed. My advice, don't buy this modem. The Intel chipset inside has a bad reputation for early failures.
