    Not enough Ethernet ports

    Posted .

I upgraded from my standard cable company WiFi tower. The Arris SB6190 was recommended to me by the store associate to go along with a Google Mesh system extender. NOT a good combination! Geek Squad installed them for me and after the connection to cable, the main (of 3) Google Mesh extender discs and my Hue bridge, there were no Ethernet ports left to connect my home security system's Netgear gateway (separate cord to the in-wall data jack). So, I lost the ability to remotely control my ADT security system through my phone. So now, I think I have to purchase an ADDITIONAL piece of equipment, a router switch, to increase my number of ports. Bummer...

    Dead after 9 months

Bought this in July 2018 and in April 2019 I woke up one morning to find the modem completely dead. No lights or anything. The outlet works, we use a surge protector, and I tested the ac power adapter, which also works. So it's the modem itself. I don't have a best buy warranty, but the modem was within the limited 2-yr warranty. Cost me $50 to be shipped overnight a new modem and I also received a label to mail the broken one back to Arris. I could also receive a new one without shipping charge but it would take 2 weeks (business days). Too bad my livelihood depends on internet and I now have to PAY $50 because of a broken modem.

Works for a few months. Defective Puma 6 Chip.

It works great for a few months. Then I started getting dropouts and disconnects and had to reset numerous times/day. I'm not a newbie at this stuff. I should have done more research instead of try to get something for a good price! After calling Asus Tech Support several times and my ISP provider, I did some research. This unit is made with a Puma 6 Chip. There have been MAJOR issues and several lawsuits over the use of this chip in several modems. The issues begin after several months of use according to most reports. They are unrepairable. It may work for you or it may not.

    Terrible

Stopped receiving power after only four months. Other sites that sell this modem have similar reviews- seems that the average is about six months before it completely stops working. Real waste of money for what it costs.

    Wouldn't recommend

I bought this not even a month ago and it already broke. It won't turn on at all. I went back to the store exchanged it for another one and that one didn't work at all. I was on the phonse with or internet provider for over an hour and they didn't know what was going on. I then called the Arris number and all they did was tell me to reset it and call the internet provider. My experience has been horrible with this brand. Hence the reason I would not recommend.

    Useless modem

This modem totally stopped working after about five weeks of use, despite multiple reboots. Reboots initially got it working again, but later it did no good. It is obviously defective and useless. I will not buy another Arris product. Unfortunately, the modem did not totally stop working until after the 15-day limit on in-store returns, and Best Buy would make no exceptions.

If you do a search online for this model, you will find that it has a history of causing reboots that cannot be fixed. The customer service from Arris is nonexistent. I got this modem as it was recommended by the Best Buy employee. I wish I had did my research more and saw all the issues at this modem has. The company's apps don't support this modem.

This modem is completely dead after 30 months, I do not recommend this manufacturer. After registering my product they tell me the warranty expired 14 months before I purchased it.

    Short life

Bought this product with high hopes. l wanted people to be warned about short life span. If you use your internet about 5+ hours daily it will last less than a year. I read posts after mine went out and the average was 10 months. I purchased mine Jan 18 and it went out this month, Sept 18. Went with another company this time. Good luck, you have been warned.

    Warranty not honored

I have had the modem functional for several months so it was working fine. About a week ago it dropped connection and would not sync with Cox. Cox sent out a tech, bad modem. Bought a new modem from Best Buy and it connected right up. Tried to get ARRIS to honor their warranty and repair this one. No luck. They would not honor their warranty

Had for a year and would cut in and out from time to time and one day came home and it completely stopped working and wouldn’t turn on again. Waste of $90 and wouldn’t recommend, spend your money elsewhere

This modem doesn't work with Optimum/CableVision . Went through Arris Support and a factory reset yet the modem was not connecting to Optimum to register the MAC address. I had to return it.
