I had a negear that stopped working. Picked up this hardware and been working all this time. No complaints.

The modem itself is great. The set-up was another matter, although everything worked out in the end. There is no manual with the unit, just a QR code to download an app to interface with Comcast to get the unit online. But the QR code snd app require internet access, and if we had internet access we would not need a new modem… We went across the street to use neighbors’ Wi-Fi to download the app, but their internet coverage did not extend across the street. Without contacting real people at Comcast (a horror story in itself with Comcast’s automated system), we could not get the modem activated and still had no internet. Drove to BestBuy to consult with their techs, and they told us to go to the Comcast store a mile away to resolve the issue. Waited 45 minutes in Comcast lobby to meet with a service rep, who was lovely. Fortunately we had brought the info on modem model and serial number, and in 5 minutes she had switched over authorization so the new unit was talking to Comcast. Reviewed our plan and offered us a small discount on a new plan with even faster internet connection. So after a few hours of headaches we were back in business. How on earth Arris can expect us to set up internet access without internet connection and only the most general advice to call Comcast’s nightmare automated system is beyond me. The unit itself probably deserves 5 stars, but set-up rates one star.
