Good performance. However it tends to create uncorrectable data errors. LED lights are difficult to easily interpret in daylight. At night these are much too bright and tend to illuminate a bedroom.

This modem is the best possible one you can get for SuddenLink w/ Gigabit service. It solved a lot of my headaches. It's also amazing that you can plug in 2 things directly to the modem to avoid losing speed from a slow router/switch.

Comcast attempted to install with its Gigabit service and failed.I switched to the Netgear CM1000 and neither were able to work reliably with the Comcast connection with the Netgear Nighthawk X10 AD7200 Smart Router. However, theNetgear CM-1000 modem was an improvement over the AARIS which I returned. Be sure that the pole to home wiring is changed since Comcast requires that installs be done by a technician. In my case the Netgear driver updates for the Netgear equipment (modem and router) did NOT complete before Comcast left, and failed to verfy that the system was completely working. However, it is not clear that Comcast was able to do any triage because it had not allotted enough install time. Comcast refunds all onsite work in such cases. So ask for an install rebate. I purchased a total of three of the most expensive upgrades and am not sure how to stabilize the connection for this service.

After upgrading to Xfinity's 800Mbps service, my older Surfboard wasn't handling it very well. Plus it had the crappy Intel chipset. This one is DOCSIS 3.1 and has the Broadcom chipset, it's been solid so far.

The two ports do not act like a switch

The device works very well. It would be very helpful to say in larger print and quality than what is currently out there that "just because it has two ethernet ports, it does not mean that those two ports run on a single internet connection. You actually have to purchase an additional IP address from your internet provider.

If you want the 1GB download speed you have to get a DOCSIS 3.1 Cable Modem nothing else will work with comcast because they've rigged the game. To get the 400MB speed you have to use a comcast certified telephony modem or the DOCSIS 3.1 Cable Modem I learned this the hard way!

Best option if you have a separate router ... if you do not want to pay $13/ month for equipment rental. I have owned surfboard for 15 years (3 units) I only change when the DOCSIS technology upgrades.

Pretty basic equipment. I really don't have to much knowledge on gigabytes per second or nothing but it works and I have had no issues thus far. Plus its pretty easy to conceal and hide, also I no longer pay the additional rental fees from my internet provider.
