1y and half extra vs renting it

Worked great for 3y and half. Now it can't lock down channels and keeps rebooting. Got 1y and half more by paying for it vs renting the modem. Saved 150$.

I've had several routers since January 2017, but only 1 modem...SB8200; attached to Asus ROG 11000AXE now, hasn't missed a beat...great product.

    Awful Product, Worse Customer Service

    Posted .

Twice I have purchased the SB8200, relying in it for my 1 gig internet, and twice it has failed. The first one went out after a lightning storm, neither ethernet port would produce any internet. After much troubleshooting and finding the modem to be out of warranty, I decided to purchase a second thinking that the cause was the lightning and it was not the fault of Arris. The most recent modem lasted a total of 4 months before speeds suddenly dropped from consistently >800 mbps to 20 mbps. Hours upon hours of troubleshooting with the ISP and Arris led to no resolution. At about the 6th factory reset I stopped the so called troubleshooting and directly asked for a replacement. The representative finally agreed to replace the modem if I would pay shipping out of pocket. This product and the awful customer support have costed me hours of my life that I cannot get back in addition to a boatload of stress. The only person I would recommend purchase the SB8200 is my worst enemy.

    Horrible Modem/Constant Time Out Errors

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Bought this modem in Nov. 2017 and ever since I've had it, it throws T3 timeout errors throughout the entire day. It will throw so many that the system will reboot the modem by itself. Upon reboot, my speed drops from 150mbps to around 60 until I myself once again reboot the modem and then it's okay for maybe a day. Next day, you get to repeat the same process and so on and so on. All my signal levels are great and there is nothing else in my house that uses the coaxial connection. The problem is, most people won't check or even notice a speed drop from 150 to 60 and it won't effect your movie streaming or online surfing. Since I'm out of the 30 day exchange window, I get to deal with Arris themselves. First I email them, telling them exactly what is happening and the response I get is to pull the power cord and or reset the modem, something I already mentioned I do on a daily basis. Am told that to get an exchange I need to call them, ok, fine. Give them a call and am told that I have 4 options. First one is to send them the modem (at my expense) and wait around 3 weeks to get a replacement. Second, is to pay 9.50 and have them ship me a replacement first and then send them my defective one, once again at my expense. I don't want this thing any longer but don't just want to sell it to someone, knowing that it has issues so I go through with the exchange, which will be sold as soon as it gets here. Have now bought and installed a CM1000 which has been running without issues for a couple of days. Arris, this is a horrible product and you should do more to fix it.. DO NOT BUY!!

    No-go on Xfinity gigabit

    Posted .

This cable modem is 100% junk on Xfinity 1gig. It would sync up just fine, and downstream speeds were fine, but uptime was around 3hr on average, with 10-15 reboots per day on Xfinity in the Twin Cities metro. Tech came out, checked everything and found no issues. Swapped the modem out just in case I got one that was DOA, and no dice. Still dropping signal 12-15 times per day, tons of T3/T4 errors and tens of thousands of uncorrectable codewords. I was such a big Arris fan until this modem. I like their build quality, the style, the wall-mountability. I then found the Netgear CM1000, and for 48 hours now I have had ZERO issues, perfect stability and consistent speed test results of 950Mbps+.

    Won't Work with Snow?

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Purchased modem at the end of Oct 2020. Began having internet connection problems in November. Problem started when heavy rains were in area. The latest problem occurred in December after seven inches of snow fell in the area. Mediacom is our internet provider and has been working with us to determine the problem. Mediacom believes there is a line problem (problem occurs with heavy rain and melting snow) and a modem problem. After the snow event, I called Arris and was told by a Tech Support person a new modem could be sent to us if the problems continues. The modem would not stay on line three days after the snowfall. The modem kept going off line after a reset by Mediacom. Called Arris and was told by a supervisor they could not replace modem since problem was caused by an "Act of God" - the snow. Acts of God are not covered under warranty. Move to an area without rain or snow if you want to purchase this unit.

Worked fine for 6 months, then toast.

Purchased the modem Jan-18, and it worked fine for ~ 6 months. We recently started having problems with our service, our service provider cleared their network and provided a new modem, which works great 950mbps down 40mbps up. Our owned Arris SB8200 achieves speeds of 40mbps to 700 mbps and randomly disconnects. Arris has been zero help stating it is the providers problem, without explaining why the cable modem provided by Comcast works just fine. Stay away from Arris, buy something else.

Do not purchase this prpduct with comcast xfinity. 3rd one this year and this one failed after 1 month. The Modem gets hot and stops workimg. Im not sure what to get. Evry review foe modems on her including Aries and Netgera is negative! I wonder if comcast purposely sends signals to these modema to make them go bad so you end up renting from them or they are all chinese cheap products?!!!

    DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!! I have been having problems with my internet for months. I contacted my internet provider several times, they came to my house 4 times in one month to try to figure out the problem. They told me that the problem was my modem, but I didn’t want to believe it because I bought a brand new modem last year ( ARRIS MODEM), and a new router. Arris modem stopped working in July this year, I talked to them because I had warranty, so they asked me to send back their modem so they could try to fix it, while I was waiting I decided to get the modem S33 to give it a try as my provider told me to test it out anyways. My internet was working fine with he S33 modem, but I returned it as I got back my SB6190, which they claim to be compatible with my internet provider and claim to get 1.4GBPS. I was getting 13MBPS , 72 MBPS or sometimes no internet at all. Arris agent asked me look at the signals, so I did. She asked me to contact my internet provider and tell them that I wasn’t getting strong signals. Well, I contacted them and they told me that they were sending the signals, and the modem S33 was getting it, but the SB6190 wasn’t. Here I go again contacting Arris, I talked to them for 1.5 hour, for them to blame on my plan, internet provider, etc, and not resolving my problem. The agent hung up on me, so the next day I called them again. Again, the agent was telling me that my plan was the problem, but I had the 200 MBPS plan for the longest time, and I upgraded a couple months back, I have been having problems for 10 month. Their modem is for up to 1.4 GBPS how come my plan is the problem if I had 200Mbps internet for most time and then I have 1.2GBPS now? Then she started blaming AGAIN on the signals of my provider, then she told me that my cat 5 cable was the problem, even though they provided that cable. It was always an excuse, what I wanted was them to recognize their mistake, give me a refund or send me the S33, and I would send back their SB6190 ( as I got a brand new one in July). I ended up talking to her supervisor, who was extremely ruder and told me that he wasn’t going to do anything. I am stuck with a modem that doesn’t have the internet that I need, and now I new modem that it does. I spent too much money on this, so I suggest for everyone to go and buy a good modem, DO NOT BUY FROM ARRIS.
