I have set it up on 3 different local WIFI connections and it drops on all of them, eliminating the WIFI as the issue. When it works, it's great. I have the other Blink cams with the sync module, and those work great. The issue is this stand-alone mini-cam.

Most smart security cameras from most brands do require a subscription typically in order to utilize cloud storage for the device to record videos for later viewing. We keep the cost of this camera extremely competitive to maintain the value it offers while keeping the subscription optional for people who want to take advantage of this as well as additional premium features that come along with the subscription. Blink does sell a Sync Module that you could use with a USB flash drive (sold separately) in order to be able to store videos locally and not require the subscription for viewing recorded events. Unless you want to spend more money to get the SD card attachment so that you can actually access your recordings, you're going to have to go with a subscription to get features that you thought were basic. It's less of a camera and more a "warning system" if you use it without paying for the subscription. There are other options that are better.
