Good device, but not sure how to update

It is slimmer than previous Garmin units, and packs well for Travel. But I do not know how to update these maps (the “lifetime maps” feature), so when using this device I am also using my iPad in my lap — Google Maps and Waze are much more current Lunt routs and traffic. When there is a conflict, I always tajeGoogleMaps or Waze.
