Mapquest, Google Maps, and paper maps work better

My Garmin mostly did what i wanted it to do only in that last mile where it's easy to lose your way. But it wasn't easy to make it understand where I want to go from further away -- putting in the address wasn't as useful as it ought to be. The time I asked it to guide me to a hospital about 10 miles west of where I was starting from. It was determined to guide me south, and kept telling me to turn around. Eventually, when I ignored it for a while, it finally got the idea and became useful enough to help me in that last mile. I haven't used it in about a year, and I may even have given it to the local thrift shop to unload.
