Navigating through it's menus can be confusing. Garmin still uses a Mini-B usb interface which is outdated, a usb-c would have been a better choice. My daughter lives in a two year old shore community in S. Carolina and her street of residence is not in their map software. Yes Garmin, I updated to the latest version of software. Her address is easily found when I use Waze and Google maps. Shame on you Garmin, you're probably the best GPS manufacturer in the world but your software is not up to par. I can't find a way to disconnect the phone from the Garmin device without turning off Bluetooth on my phone. I don't want to disconnect Bluetooth because Bluetooth is required for traffic updates. The battery life of this unit is short, only about an hour.With the listed deficiencies i will only use my brand new Garmin as a backup to the mobile apps i mentioned.

Any addresses that are not in the mapping can be reported directly to the mapping provider Here, https://supportforms.garmin.com/en-US/form/report-map-error/. Depending on population and local municipalities reporting it can take time for new addresses to be entered. You can always use the save my location feature wherever you are for these scenarios. Bluetooth is not needed for traffic updates on the DriveSmart 65 & Traffic device as its able to receive these notifications without the smartphone connected. Although portable these navigators are not handhelds and do require power to operate and the standby battery is for short use while entering addresses or planning a trip. If its a handheld navigator you need I recommend looking into our Outdoor handheld devices as they are able to operate under battery power. I have driven out of the area for medical reasons the past month and haven't had to worry about where I was going as the GPS talked and guided me through every step of the way, even if I missed a turn it still got us there.

It has performed flawlessly both locally as well as during extended road trips. The only fault I've identified with it is the need to download the owner's manual in order to configure the device to my needs. The startup manual is useful only to make the physical connection of the device to the vehicle and that may not be the case for a first-time user.

Garmin SmartDrive 65

It allows the phone to be free to operate as a phone. The GPS screen is large and quite readable. With the traffic option, this is awesome and helps to avoid jams!
