So before I purchased this I read through many reviews for this item. Mostly we’re good so I decided to purchase it. The gps did get hot after using for a bit but seemed okay. Then on the 3rd day of using it I was close to my destination and the thing just went black and would not turn on. I noticed it was hot. So after pulling it off my dash and maybe 10 mins later it turned back on. I wasn’t to happy at that point with it but chalked up up to we’ll maybe a fluke. Then about 2 days later was driving home from dropping my grandkids off to their mothers near Baltimore and the thing just stopped working again right near an area that was kinda confusing. That was the last straw. I returned it when I got back home in Pittsburgh. I’m really disappointed with this model and I was really excited about it when I purchased it. We’ll back to just using my phone.

While the GPS is ready to use out of the box, we would suggest checking for any map and software updates that may have been made available while the device was in transit and on the retailer’s shelf. The ease that it is to use it, update the device, and program the next location through the app is fantastic!! We have to get a new GPS every 3 or so years because we use them all the time! I hope this one lasts longer!!

Worked without issue during recent trips. The one weak point is the included mounting system. The suction fails in heat and gps falls off dash ( the gps is too large for the included mount). I invested in a Bulletpoint mount, which solves the problem.

Very happy with this Garmin. I had an old Tom Tom this one replaced. If you are looking for a small corner GPS this is not it. It is much larger than I expected and definitely much larger than the old Tom Tom. Larger is not a Bad Thing though.
