Maps and programming updated when i plugged it in. I had it set to accept tolls and choose the fastest (not shortest) route from Cambridge, MD to Glen Burnie, MD (67 mi) and it consistently tried to route me through Elkton, MD (144 mi). Once I crossed the Chesapeake Bay Bridge it finally settled on the correct route, more or less. It still kept trying to send me down local roads instead of major highways. There were no accidents or road closures so it shouldn't have been trying to avoid congestion or back-ups. It did the same thing on the way home. It failed 100% of the time on all 4 legs of a known trip so I certainly wouldn't use it to take me across country. I don't know what the problem is but it's useless to me.
