This unit replaces a seven year old Garmin Nuvi that has served well over the years. The reason for replacement is to (try) to get improvements in traffic avoidance services. After spending two weeks in the NYC metro area and relying heavily on the old Nuvi, I am hoping that the new unit will magically transport me around traffic. So far, I have taken this unit on a trip to Bar Harbor, ME and it worked pretty well. As someone else has pointed out, it may have some directionality issues (pointing to the left, and speaking "go right). I like that rest areas and gas stations are marked clearly on the map. Don't like the "warning" that goes off in school zones. It was only correct 50% of the time. I like the road view showing some exits - wish there were more. The unit is faster than the old - in every way; easier to see (sharper detail), and louder (you can adjust the volume - I have her cranked up). The voice activation is not something that works well - I haven't been able to get it to do much other than to open a menu. Will need to play with it further. I am heading back to NY this week for the real test. Wish me luck.

This is my second GPS, my first Garmin. I love many of its features, including the easy-to-read names of upcoming side streets, the voice command feature, and the hands-free phone connection. If you set it for trip directions, and you choose an alternate route, it quickly and easily adjusts to the new route.

Been very satisfied with several Garmin GPS models over the years. This one is my latest, it speaks natural sounding English directions; off-ramp illustrations are clear and precise; it does an excellent job of understanding my voice commands; it nearly instantly revises my route when I deviate from its initial given route. The display is sharp and bright. On one occasion it directed me off the highway to use a side road for a couple miles, which I could readily see was not an efficient route and ignored. Had hoped to be able to pair it with my 2016 Jeep Cherokee media center using Bluetooth, but it was not compatible.

This works well and usually finds satellites quickly. I love the Voice Command feature. I wish it were easier to find the previous destinations list.

I really liked the new layout. Meaning it seemed easier to maneuver from one screen to another than ones I had in the past. The larger screen and voice commands a definite plus. I highly recommend.

Our new Garmin has features our old one did not have. The lane assist came in very handy as we drove through many larger cities. It was easy to program and offers many handy functions.

I've owned my Garmin Nuvi 2589 for a month and use it almost daily. It has all the features I need including traffic and Bluetooth. I like that this unit has North America maps which covers Mexico and Canada. Other units may not have this coverage. The satellite detection is fast and it has a bright screen that is touch sensitive. You will need a micro SD card for the device, but these are inexpensive and easy to install.

Super GPS at affordable price, navigates me very well. Sound quality is superb. Displays traffic info as well. I liked this product

I bought this GPS to replace an old GPS that did not have unlimited updates. I drove over 1,000 miles (one way) recently and this GPS was the best I've ever used. I love how it directs you to avoid traffic congestion. It made for a very pleasant trip and I didn't get lost once. I highly recommend this model.

Great unit, bright clear screen . Easy to see in sunlight. Volume can be adjust loud enough to hear fine over the radio. Traffic updates tend to be slow, but that could just be the artimis system where i live.

You would think who would need GPS devices in this day and age but you would be surprised how handy these are when you are on long drives (or national parks etc). I really like this GPS device and it does the job well for the price.
