Was never told this.computer is actually more than a year old. No. DVD slot takes getting accustomed to. Wave is very compact, has few wires. Do not as BB for assist with set up..call HP...geek squad is of no help...ditto for your isp. Still having issues with outlook.

So far, I am impressed with the performance and sound from this computer. Certainly not bad at this price point.

So now that I’ve owned this computer a year and a half (purchased it January of 2017) I can give an honest review. In the year and a half of owning it, the hard drive crashed TWICE!!!! As a bookkeeper and self employed, the last thing you want or need is your computer to not be dependable!!!! I LOVED the size and shape of it and really appreciated the look as it wasn’t a typical looking computer. But other than that I am not happy. I’ve just had to purchase a new computer as the unreliability of this computer has me nervous enough to not use it.

This computer overall is great with the compact design and fits well as a home office desktop computer or as a home theater computer. As a desktop, the computer works great for surfing the net and doing office work and email. I'd definitely recommend the i5 version if you're looking to do anything more heavy duty like editing video or working with anything that requires higher end graphics/processing. This would not be the best computer for heavy duty gaming but works fine with basic/simple games/apps from the Windows App store. The small footprint/design doesn't take up a lot of room and it is quiet. The built-in speaker has great quality sound, I was actually pretty impressed for the rich sound it puts out! I did however notice an issue with playing sound on movies in Windows 10 where voices were not coming through the speaker but the movie music/background sounds were playing so it's likely a software issue and something to do with how surround sound audio is played back which is something I hope is fixed in an update. The builtin microphone works great and it's actually pretty awesome to use Cortana with (the Microsoft Windows Voice assistant). I was actually able to control it with my voice and have it launch apps across the room without any problems. Ultimately, I ended up setting this computer up in the living room as a home theater computer where i must say it fits right in! I don't know that HP had designed this PC with that in mind but it works great for playing movies, apps, and being able to surf the net on the 65" screen with an awesome picture. Note that if you do this, you'll need a different keyboard/mouse as the bundled ones do not work across the living room very well (if at all) depending how far you are from the computer. All in all, this is a great computer for everyday tasks/computing/apps with a cool design that doesn't take up a lot of space. Here's a summary of the pros/cons from my use of it: Pros: Sleek Modern Design (I like the fabric on it; adds a nice touch to a desk) Quality built-in speaker/microphone USB 3.0 ports Built-in WiFi/Bluetooth Latest Intel Skylake processors Lots of builtin storage Cons: Lacks an optical drive Keyboard/mouse operating distance is very limited range 3-in-1 card reader is on the back by all the other ports (very odd place for it in my opinion) Lacking dedicated graphics option Upgrade-ability is limited

Great computer, very compact, this computer is outstanding

This is a very compact desktop, and certainly HP has done a great job designing it. The only down side, if I must say, is the mouse. It is definitely not as ergonomic as it can be.

great sound for price not the best but for price good

I've had lots of experience setting up computers, and so I know that everyone gets annoyed by bloat and try me and buy me offers on computers. But HP has designed this to the point where you can uninstall Mcaffee and you're done with the promotional offers. Nothing else to bug you on the screen. This unit is problem free and designed well too! I think this is one of the best desktop experiences I've had in a long time and that goes to say I've owned a lot of computers. That being said, there are some things you should know if you're looking to purchase it. This desktop has phased out the DVI port and the VGA port. So unless you have an HDMI to DVI cord, you won't be able to use this tower. and you can't use legacy plugs anymore. You will also need a 32GB flash drive, at least to create to create the recovery partition comfortably. That being said, this system is very speedy and opens applications lightning fast. I mainly use it for writing documents on Microsoft Word and watching YouTube videos / streaming movies on the tower. No slowdown, 60FPS videos play silky smooth and there is plenty of space for editing photos. The tower design... I just love it. I have rich sound coming from the tower and I don't need an external pair of speakers in order to enjoy what I'm doing. If you don't like the sound that's coming from the tower you can use your own speakers. Oh yeah, No DVD / CD Drive but I don't care as everything is digital so... CD / DVD Drives are extremely inexpensive. Overall, I think HP did a great job on this design. I really think I a college student or a first time computer user would enjoy this. Just remember the monitor situation and get the appropriate cable if you don't have it!

At first boot, the machine was a little sluggish. After removing all the "extra" stuff, the computer functions much better. It's no fault of the machine that it comes with bloatware.
