Not Dependable

Well, I can vouch for their issues. This unit was very unreliable, often giving “Unresponsive” as the status. Even worse, often the status was “Closed” when it was really “Open”—and the opposite. Fortunately, I have a home security camera aimed at the garage door, so I can always visually verify the true status. I decided to return it to Best Buy and spring for the Chamberlain myQ. The Chamberlain unit has worked absolutely flawlessly. Unlike the Insignia, even if I have very poor cellular coverage, the Chamberlain still comes through.

We did release a firmware update to address the responsiveness issue you experienced but the auto update may have run into a network connectivity issue on your device. Please contact Insignia support at 877-467-4289 so that we can confirm your device has been properly updated.

It's a junk

Had a $60 gift card to use so decided this would be worth it. It was easy to take it out of the box. That's where the user friendliness stopped. I have tried everything(reboot the network, reboot my iPhone, reinstalled the App, etc. But can't get it to be recognise by the App. I have spent almost two hours troubleshooting this. Tried bypassing some of the instructions but still no luck. Total waste so far.

Easy fix...

Frequent Connectivity Issues

Despite a strong wifi signal in the garage, both units regularly have a "no response" issue. I have had to completely reset both units (getting up on a ladder, the whole bit) at least five times in the several months I've had them. I've read that this is a common problem with these devices. I definitely regret purchasing them.
