    Bought this thinking I can open/close garage door from anywhere with my smart phone. Upon setting it up, it only works when I'm on my home WiFi. On LTE or outside my house it does not work. I called technical support (same number provided in other comments) and they confirmed it only works while on the same WiFi network as the device. Kind of defeats the purpose for me. Wanted a device to see if my garage door is open or closed while away from home. Will be returning the device.

Please note that in order to control or view status of HomeKit enabled devices from outside your home, you will need to have an Apple TV, HomePod or an iPad configured as a Home Hub in your home.     No Response in HomeKit

    This device worked well when I first got it, but 2 years later, I often open the Home App to see No Response coming from my Garage Door. I'm running firmware 2.63.51. I would appreciate if someone from Insignia contacted me. I've worked with Apple Support on this and I've also tried changing numerous settings with my Wi-Fi network.

    I had a number if issues with this controller. We ended up replacing it after a year.

    It actually made my normal garage opener not connect to anything else. Not a good purchase.

    The WiFi signal in my garage is very decent it’s not 97 but it’s above 87 % strength. This device takes forever to sync every time I open the home app on my iPhone. It will open the garage but it will get stuck thinking it’s still opening sometimes which I will have to close it manually to resume again and this happens 95% of the time.

    Waste of Money - won't stay connected to wifi

    Garbage, I bought wifi extending home pods to make sure I had a strong connection in the garage, placed one ten feet from the unit. It still states no response, not that there is an obstruction just no response. I tried calling customer service to see if the updated firmware would help and they said I was running the most up to date version. What a waste of money.

    Kept disconnecting from Homekit

    Worked for a couple of months and when it did, it was fantastic. disconnects from homekit. Power cycle solves the issue for a few days/weeks, but it disconnects again. Finally just gave up, and not using it anymore. Terrible waste of money on this.

    I switched from the Chamberlain MyQ device because I wanted Apple Homekit support. What a mistake, as inconvenient as the MyQ was because it wasn't on HomeKit, at least it worked when I wanted it to ! Most of the time this device just shows up as "updating" Its cheap for a reason ! it sucks

    Limited WiFi connectivity

    I’ve only owned this producted for three months now and it’s failing to connect via 2.4ghz WiFi. Though it was great working with apple home kit but often times I had issues connecting to due to slow performance of the module. I wouldn’t recommend this product due to unreliable WiFi connectivity and buggy firmware.

    I was extremely happy to see this product. I really wanted to see it work so I can control my control door from my phone. Unfortunately this thing disappointed me. It simply just did not work!! My was able to get my homekit to find it but it can not be controlled. Called the customer services no help. Tried the 2nd unit and it did not work either. Stay away and Don't waste you time!!

    Don’t work as advertised

    After rounds of support calls and excavation I gave up and had to dismount and throw away two garage openers. It doesn’t work as advertised - both have No Response status in Home app if you are outside of you home WiFi network. So the only time you can use them and receive notifications is when you are connected to the same WiFi. I don’t see a point.

      Hi! This garage door opener can be used while you are away and not connected to the same network. All you need to do, is set your apple TV or hub to "Never go to sleep" so it can be the point of contact between the controller and your app. I would recommend you to retrieve the devices so we can validate the warranty for them in case they are not properly working.     I bought this even though it had an overall bad reputation throughout the internet. Somewhat bad reviews all over. Well, I regret buying it. Constant connection problems even though it was less than 10 feet from my router. This is not worth buying. I returned it and bought the Chamberlain myQ on sale for only $20 more, and it works great. Never an issue with it.

    This thing loses its wifi configuration when and if for any reason there is a power outage (or if you unplug it from the power outlet and plug it in again). Needs to be setup from the beginning. Such a poor implementation. Thanks but no thanks, goes back to best buy this evening.
