"No Response" in Home app 99% of the time
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'd love to give this device two stars because of how simple and easy the installation was, but I can't even justify that because of how poorly it works. I have a wireless access point in my garage about three feet from where this door controller is plugged in, so WiFi signal is not an issue. The device's LED is lit a solid green, indicating an active WiFi connection as well. I've removed it from my Home and re-added it numerous times. I've power cycled my Apple TVs numerous times. I've even signed out of iCloud and back in on both my Apple TVs and my iPhone. No matter what you do, you'll probably experience this as well, just as the other reviewers have. I'm guessing all the positive reviews are either fake, or were written within hours of installing the door controller. It just doesn't work at all. There needs to be a firmware update, but as of right now there doesn't seem to be a mechanism to accomplish that, so Insignia would have to release an app to facilitate software updates. Until that happens, don't lose your old garage door openers. Better yet, just don't buy this.

Frustrating!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I first installed it, the Garage Door Controller worked great. HomeKit indicated it was closed and connected. However, after using it for awhile, it becomes unresponsive and HomeKit will indicate "No Response". I then remove it from Home app and start the process all over again. Once again, it works for some time, then stops working again! So, I go through the same hoop all over again. Hey Best Buy, how about fixing this Garage Door Controller with an updated firmware or quality control check. I'm using a wifi mesh network and it's great - so definitely not my wifi. Until there's an update, I don't recommend getting this product until it's sorted out!

Great Homekit garage door opener
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Homekit garage door opener works great. It took me about 10 minutes to install it. It comes with a controller and 1 door sensor. So you need to buy an additional one for all your other doors. I just connected the controller to my garage door terminal leads and hooked it up to Homekit. It was literally a 10 minute install for me. There is a button on the controller that you can use to open and close the garage door, as well as using the Apple Home app. Make sure your WiFi extends well into your garage. Your garage door opener also should not have a learn button on it. Other than that, it should install without any issues.

Great garage door opener for Apple HomeKit
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's very easy to install and it comes everything that you need, including screw driver. No issues adding it to Apple HomeKit. I'm able to open and close my garage door via the HomeKit app. Nice product!

Buggy, unreliable product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Opener is not working as supposed. Worked only on the beginning. After one week of using opener stopped working. I rebooted, reconnected to wifi and it worked again for about two days. After that I have to do it again. Moreover, there is notification problem . Sometimes works and other not. I bought that product in order to see on my phone when the door are open. Not reliable product. I addition to that it weaken my regular opener signal. In order to close the door I have to be about 10-20 feet from door. I did testing, without insignia controller my range is about 50-100 feet. I'm removing controller from my garage, I hope that somebody from insignia company will fix the problem or return money.

Not Impressed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Recently purchased. Setup was easy and straightforward, unfortunately the unit only worked for a few days before the “No Response” messages. Engaged with tech support (no help) and they said wait a few days. Really?? Firmware will automatically be updated on Feb 5. It’s Feb 6 and nothing. They must have some antiquated processes/systems to provide firmware updates. At this time, I cannot recommend this product. I have a lot of home automation and this is probably the worse product and even worse tech support.

Excellent Product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this on a Pre Black Friday sale and I must say turned out to be an amazing deal. Installation took about 10 minutes. Works great with Apple HomeKit and I get instant notifications on my phone when the door opens or closes. I use my garage as a woodshop but I am sure this would be great for automating opening when arriving home using a geo-fence. I hear some people have issues if they do not have strong wifi signal in their garage. My signal is plenty strong and I have not experienced any issues in the month that I have owned so far.

10 minute setup. Works perfectly.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of the most simply HomeKit devices I've setup. Also, one of the most satisfying. I can now have the door triggered as I pull up to the house and I can check to make sure I closed the garage door if I start to have doubts while out for dinner. The best option for a simple legacy door opener if you have an older unit, good 2.4Ghz wireless in your garage, have read to ensure you door opener in compatible, and if you have even a small amount of technical and mechanical skill.

Bunglers Welcome! (poor product design)
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While this product holds promise, the operation is inconsistent and highly insecure due to a defective design related to the door sensor (not shown). When the button battery wears out in the door position detector unit, the controller unit pictured will reverse it's logic. It reports the door open when the door is closed and the door closed when the door is open. There is also no indication that the battery is low or dead. "Hey Siri, is the garage open?" - "The garage door is closed" (when it is open) "Hey Siri, close the garage door" - "The garage door is closing, check..." (and it is actually opening) One of the nice things about HomeKit (Apple) is that you have to authenticate to the phone before Siri or any automation will open a door (secure accessory). To close a secure accessory, no authentication is needed. Make sense. So if you have automation that locks your house at night and the button battery is dead in the door position detector, your automation will open your garage door instead of close it. And to put icing on the cake, when the button battery dies, the opener will issue ghost notifications. It will both not tell you when it is opening or closing and it will sometimes indicate that it is opening or closing when it is doing nothing. Puts a real knot in your knickers when you are on vacation 100's if not 1000's of miles from home. If you have this product, get a $19.95 web cam and set it up in the garage to be able to SEE the truth. Don't set up any automation with this product. Make sure you lock the door that goes from the house to the garage and make sure that door is metal with a dead bolt. Buy button batteries by the dozen and buy a multi-meter to test them.

Great price, but a price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had this for about a year now. It usually works as expected, but is often slow to respond. Sometimes it takes half a minute to respond to HomeKit. It also regularly phones home to check for software updates and, I assume, send usage telemetry data. This is normally not a problem since I can firewall off the device from accessing the internet. However, their telemetry calls are blocking operations. So if you block the device from accessing the internet, it becomes EXTREMELY unreliable. So I just have to live with the telemetry data being sent out. Overall, I haven’t thrown it away or replaced it due to its low price, but you want to spend the extra money on a more reliable HomeKit device that doesn’t require internet access.

What else could go wrong
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The set up is pretty straightforward. Not too complicated. However, the operation is Horrible! I constantly get “Updating” or “No Response”. And, as an added bonus, now none of my regular remotes are working! I have used many smarthome products and this is by FAR the worst. I called the customer service line and they were NO help. I can not understand why companies haven’t gotten the message that foreign customer service is NEVER very good. Customer Service is all about communication and when there are language barriers, there is poor communication and therefore, poor CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! So many things went wrong with customer service that it’s too much to write here. But in the end they “upgraded” my case to their technicians who will contact me sometime in the next 2-3 DAYS... BY EMAIL!!!! Horrible customer service... this product was clearly rushed to market. DO NOT BUY!!!

OMG it works!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had given up hope of a Homekit door opener after trying and HATING the MyQ system. This little gem freaking works! Install was a breeze @ 15 minutes for my opener. Super straight forward. I almost can't believe this thing actually works.

Perfect HomeKit accessory
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing is the best, works exactly how I want it to, setup was a breeze took me less than 5 minutes to hookup and Siri was controlling my garage. Big shout out to insignia on this one, there aren’t many affordable products out there that give you this kind of control, actually I’m pretty sure this is it. Highly recommend if you are a Apple power user and use HomeKit for your automation which I would encourage

Excellent Homekit Accessory
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to install, easy to add to Homekit and most important, very easy to use. I bought the MyQ first, but to use with Siri or to get advanced functions you need a subscription, and you need to install 3 pieces of hardware with a very complicated setup (watch youtube vids to verify this). This Insignia is the opposite, if you want an easy to install, setup and operate garage door opener, buy this one!

Worked perfectly right out of the box
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Mine worked right after installation. I read the instructions and installed it without a problem. Took all of 10 minutes to install. I needed something that worked with Apple HomeKit and this one was seamless. I was a little skeptical when I researched it, so I only purchased one. Because it worked, first time, and installation was easy. I'll be purchasing another one. Two thumbs up!

Annoying beep on close but a good product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I found myself having issues with the setup but after re pairing the door sensor and replacing the battery it works perfectly. The instructions mention to put the battery in after installing the sensor so make sure you follow that step exactly or you will end up needing the delete the product in home kit, re pairing the sensor to the controller and re adding to HomeKit. The beep +LED flash is a bit annoying but the product works great. Can’t complain for the price.

Works Great, East to Install
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'd been thinking about getting the Chamberlin MyQ but had held off due to its spotty reviews. Picked up one of these to try out and it works great even with my detached garage. I did end up using a WiFi extender to help strengthen the signal in the garage. Installation took about 15 minutes and was very easy. I plan to get another one for my other garage door.

Love this!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was so easy to install. Much better than the MyQ from Chamberlain that never worked anyway. MyQ requires teaching the app the RF command. This Insignia controller relies on VERY easy to connect wires from the unit. Setup took less than 10 minutes and works like a champ!

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am an apple guy, and found this at the last minute, when I was researching the chamberlain bridge and hub.
