    Indescribably disappointed

    I received this item as a gift and was truly looking forward to the convenience that it should have offered. The physical installation was pretty simple but the communication set up proved to be anything but. After struggling with it for about an hour I finally gave up and called technical support. The young man I spoke with didn’t seem to know much more than I did about it and his foreign accent was so heavy that it was difficult to understand him. While on hold with him the unit mysteriously started working and performed well for about a week. Now, suddenly it has stopped and despite my repeated attempts it will not resume operation. It now says that it is incompatible with my router. Enough! This one is going back to Best Buy and the Insignia brand will never cross my threshold again.

    I already had a LiftMaster MyQ HomeBridge but was not happy with it. This product works as advertised, has native homekit support. Very happy with it.

    Like others have said no response, but worse than that I removed the device and now i cant even add it back. I would give it negative stars if possible, what a total waste of money and out of return period.

    Very easy to set up, but the unit is extremely unreliable. It is only opening the door some of the time, can't close it, and thinks there's obstructions when there aren't.

    What a waste of time

    Bought it and was just starting to pair the device with HomeKit, and got a message saying it couldn’t add it or something like that. Then, it went completely brick. Light flashes when powered up, then steady, but doesn’t show back up when I attempt to pair in HomeKit. This wasted half my day. Don’t buy this thing until they can get something that works. I’m extremely disappointed that something can get HomeKit certified and be garbage. I expect more of the Apple Certification than this junk.

      We are sorry for your negative experience in setting up the garage controller. From your description, it looks like the device did join your WiFi network (solid green light) but the Home app was not able to see it. This can be resolved via a WiFi reset action outlined in the manual. You simply need to press and hold the button on the Insignia controller for 10 sec and let go when you hear the double beep. The controller will now be ready for pairing via the Home app. Please try this and feel free to contact Insignia Support at 877-467-4289 if you require additional support.

    Reset 3 times and every time it worked a few times and then showed "No Response" in Homekit. This is the most unreliable Home Automation product I have ever used.

    Pain in the garage door

    bought this product with high hope, that were soon dashed. wouldn't connect, told not strong enough wifi. got it to connect only by turning off my 5G wifi, one of the solutions to not connecting. its a great product if you need to remember how to spell "no response". contacted support and went though that process. several emails later it stayed connected for a couple of weeks. now it doesn't connect. if you wanted a device that works on your phone and tell you if it's open, i'd look at a garage door opener that comes with that feature built in.

    Going to MyQ

    As with all Insignia products it is extremely buggy. Remember the old saying-you get what you pay for, well that is true here! After dealing with the dreaded No Response issue since the unit first came out, working thru the firmware update, constantly removing and adding the device to Homekit or WiFi network-I finally admitted defeat and ordered the My Q setup today.

    Not Homekit Ready

    Like many others that have reviewed this item it shows up in the Homekit App as "Not Responding". Consistently worked once and then failed despite resets of device, network and ATV. All devices running latest software. Also, (and this is what caused me to return it) it WOULD work from the MAC Homekit app but showed closed when the door was open. This is precisely what I am trying to avoid so I returned it.

    Could not connect the device

    I went through two different devices. It could open/close the door but I could never get it fully connected to my iPhone. Watched the video's, read the instructions, was on the phone with support for over an hour, tried connecting in the same room as the router. The Home app would not connect to the device. I could see the Insignia on my network.

    always get "No response"

    I have wifi repeater in garage. If I de-register and re-register the opener, it will wok for 2-3 weeks, afterwards I always get "no response" I thought "no response" is temporarily thing, apparently it is not.

    Like others, I started getting the ‘No Response’ issue frequently. Now, when it does work, the opener constantly reports the wrong door status. Tried contacting Insignia support and received no response. Very poor product and support. Cannot recommend.

    Fails evry couple days

    I wouldnt purchase this as it constantly fails to function. Product support is horrible - I have been tol 48 hour to fix and that was 4 days ago now im told wait another 3-5 days!!

    Falls offline, no support

    I’ve had this since Nov and thought after the latest firmware my door wouldn’t show unavailable anymore. Tech support was horrible and waiting on a email resolution, says my case has been escalated. Ha. 2 weeks no email. WiFi router 14 ft away. Can’t recommend.

    Moved my router in the garage and it still couldn’t maintain a signal. If you attempt to rely on this to enter your house in any way you will be locked out. It’s essentially useless. Going to crack open and try to solder in a better antenna.

    Very poor reliability

    I have two of these. They very rarely work properly and get stuck in “opening” mode at times or are just unresponsive. They are both located within 20ft of my Wi-Fi router.
