Buyer Beware and think twice before you purchase!

Owned for 1 year when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This was a little more of a splurge for me than the set I intended to purchase, but the all in one unit, center controls in the middle (made it easy to use as I am short and some units have the dryer controls at the top of the dryer and I could not reach them) and the tall sleek all in one piece design and sexy color made it so pretty that that I threw caution to the wind and purchased the set. I say caution because I had always been warned that front loaders could have odors. However, I dismissed this thinking to the fact that people were not taking care of the unit which they caused the problem themselves. I was so wrong! Terribly wrong! I wiped down the washing machine after every use as the manufacture suggest to avoid mold/mildew from building up. I even leave the washing machine door open after I wipe it out to ensure it air dries. This did not stop the buildup of mold/mildew and a terrible smell! The smell is so bad because the mold/mildew it is growing is in a part of the unit that cannot be reached or cleaned. It is so bad it even is growing on the laundry detergent drawer. The smell can be smelt down the hall! It is especially embarrassing when I have guest over. I want my clothes to be clean and fresh not smelly with mold/mildew spores on them. Buyer beware... this is a bad investment, and you will regret this purchase! I did give it 5 stars for capacity, dry time and ease of use. I would even give it a 5 star for being so sleek and nice looking... but at the end of the day it is very concerning to me and a continual problem I should not have to be concerned with! Do yourself a favor and do not buy this unit!

After that you start getting an unbalanced error. We have taken it apart and tried everything. It sucks now and takes hours to wash a load stopping and needing half the load removed to complete the wash. Its a waste of money.

LG WashTower: Overcomplicated Tech, Underwhelming

Unfortunately, the experience has been a major disappointment. The built-in intelligence constantly loses connectivity for no clear reason. The cycle options are frustratingly limited, and a normal load takes an hour by default, which feels excessive. You can’t adjust temperature on standard cycles, and the convenience of a favorite cycle memory is totally missing. Compared to Kenmore’s simplicity and reliability, the LG just falls short. The smart features aren’t worth the hassle, and in my opinion, they need a lot more refinement. Overall, I can’t recommend this machine—especially if you value straightforward, reliable performance over tech gimmicks.

Peeling Paint

Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had this washer/dryer tower for less than 2 years and paint is peeling and has some discoloration, potentially rust around the soap dispenser. No detergent has been left in the area to cause peeling. No harsh chemicals have been used to clean the machine. This is considered a cosmetic issue and neither Best Buy or LG will resolve this. LG sent me a link to a website form to “write a letter” to the LG president and I’ve not been contacted by a person. I did randomly receive a link to extend my warranty but I do not qualify and that would not help anyway if they feel this is cosmetic. I see this as a DEFECT. There should be no issues in such a short time. My previous washer/dryer tower that was at least 20 years old didn’t have rust or peeling paint. I’ve seen other customer complaints about paint peeling on these units often around the door. It makes me wonder if warmth from the hot water is melting the paint. This all needs to be addressed! Additionally, the dryer does not 100% dry my clothes. The setting needs to be on high to get close to dry. I often let my clothes air dry after each load before putting them away. I would not recommend!

Sooo Disappointed

I paid for a new unit and was given a used one. I only ordered this from Best Buy because they assured me that the unit would be delivered before I had to leave Florida to come back home to New York. When I complained to Best Buy and asked for an exchange they were unable to do it before I had to leave. So I’m back in New York and this used unit is sitting in my condo in Florida until I can get back there for the exchange. I believe they sent me this used to unit, hoping that I wouldn’t realize it. The washing machine had water in it, the dryer filter was filled with lint, and there were several scratches on the side. Hopefully I won’t have trouble with the exchange when I can get back to Florida but this will be the last time I trust Best Buy for any future purchases.

Dryer problems

Geek squad argues that nothing is wrong with the unit however clothes aren’t drying. Best Buy geek squad recommended I put a bucket of water next to the unit and exhaust into the bucket ?!! That’s how their extended warranty works.

Door shattered after less than a year.

The glass door of the washing machine shattered mid cycle. There was broken glass everywhere when I opened the door. To make matters worse, LG and Best Buy claim this is not covered by either warranty.

Best buy has the worst customer service

broken dryer vent hose

Doesn’t drain water and apparently isn’t able to
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.We had a perfectly working top loading washer and dryer, that unfortunately we needed to replace after the town’s pipes got blocked and sewage backed up into our washer. We did lots of research and decided to get this stacked front loader washer/dryer combo. From the minute we got it the washer has never drained fully after a wash. There is always a couple inches of water left sitting in it and clothes are therefore sopping wet in a puddle of water. We had the LG people come out *twice* and they literally told us “it doesn’t have the power to pump the water out fully because it’s an energy efficient machine and it therefore doesn’t have the same power as the non-energy efficient machines from the past- but don’t worry you bought a really good machine”. Thinking the first guy surely didn’t know what he was talking about we asked a second guy to come out and he confirmed the same- the machine isn’t powerful enough to empty the washer of water fully so there is apparently always going to be a puddle of water your clothes are sitting in when the wash is done that doesn’t drain from the machine. My husband is an engineer so he jimmy rigged a new pump which drains the machine now but it shouldn’t come to that (picture of that new pump my husband made below). Don’t waste your money on this “energy efficient” useless machine. (Also, BB delivery is a joke, cancelled the night before, rescheduled for a few days later, then apparently the guys can’t carry down three basement stairs through a bulkhead door so it was delivered onto our grass and my husband had to get it in himself- another picture of that)

Unacceptable customer service

The item was delivered and installed damaged (and not during the hours requested). Best Buy has a delivery window of 7am to 7pm. I then scheduled a replacement delivery and they also didn’t arrive at the scheduled time and nor would the install. Delivery only. So I scheduled a third time and they again did not arrive at the scheduled time. Best Buy indicated I needed to reschedule. After 3 failed attempts to get an undamaged appliance delivered and installed, I cancelled the order and requested my credit card be credited back for the purchase amount. Now they tell me that they can’t refund until they receive the item back. I now have to scheduled time for them to pickup but BB is so incompetent and uncaring it may never get picked up. I am sure I would like the undamaged product if I could ever get someone at Best Buy to care enough to do something about this problem. I am at a loss for what to do.

Failed after 3 years

The rubber washer boot by the door was completely shredded by the spin cycle in 3 years time. Now every time I wash there are a million pieces of rubber in my clothing and the whole liner needs to be replaced. LG knows they've built a lemon and they only guarantee parts for a year. Run and buy another brand immediately.

Best Buy logistics is the worst!!

After knowing we needed a 4 man team to get this installed, Best Buy continues to send 2 men. We've had the unit sitting in our garage for two weeks now. Even though the delivery team has requested that we need 4 people multiple times, I've made personal calls several times, they still can't get it right. We have confirmed each time the day before and they still show up with a 2 man team every time. This will be our 4th attempt at getting it right and another week to wait it out. This is ridiculous! I've really never seen anything like this. Stay away from Best Buy if you need installation.

Don’t have the item

The first time they messaged that they would be there at 8 but arrived 30 minutes early and left since I wasn’t there yet and they said they only had to wait 30 minutes. I don’t live at the property yet and have to travel. The second time they called me and said the delivery was delayed because the truck broke down and they would keep me updated. I waited 2 hours and then saw on the website my order had been canceled. I then called and rescheduled. The tv installation that was through the in house geek squad rather than the third party contractor was great. They were there on time, did a great job, and kept me informed the whole way.

Poor delivery and follow up Customer Service

Worst experience ever trying to get what I paid for. Then on top of waiting forever to get it delivered, after it was delivered, the drain hose was broken and sprayed water everywhere. Getting that repaired was another whole circus and wait. The system Best Buy used to track parts is not connected to their scheduling system, so even though the part arrived in a couple of days, the scheduling system kept canceling the appointment because it did not know the part was already delivered. Get it together Best Buy.

Dryer stopped working. LG is being useless.

This unit worked for the first few months of ownership. Then, the dryer stopped fully drying loads of laundry. When I first contacted LG for repairs, after a couple weeks of waiting, a technician came out and said the unit was being used wrong. He said that the "Energy Saver" mode shouldnt be used, and that the load should be timed, or dried on one of the other settings. This made no sense, as every mode worked fine for the first months of use. The technician was there for 15 minutes at most, and barely looked at the machine. He insisted it was being used incorrectly. After using the machine in every other manner suggested, it still wasn't drying full loads. I attempted to reschedule service with LG, and they cancelled saying the technician didn't know what was wrong and needed a second opinion. I then attempted to schedule service again, and they failed to call me to schedule, as they informed me they would. I then contacted Best Buy, and they said there is nothing they can do, I would have to go through LG. I own another one of these units, a couple months older, and the washing machine stopped working one day on that one as well. I don't recommend this unit, at all. And LG is not winning any awards with me as well

Dryer does not dry but its beautiful.

My first LG in 2016 was red and beautiful. It did not work very well til i turned off energy savings button. My second one in 2021...3 complete drying cycles with 2 tshirts, 2 pairs of lightweight sport pants, one kitchen towel, one zippered sport jacket, 1 long sleeve shirt. STILL NOT DRY. I COULD PUSH THIS DRYER OFF MY BALCONY RIGHT NOW but i wrote this instead. Beware!!!

BUYER BEWARE: Breakdowns and Misleading Warranty

Bought this seemingly top of the line drier in January and by October it had broken - no rhyme or reason just while doing some towels. BestBuy support directed me to LG as they do not help with any issues after 15 days relating to this product…. And LG while it says its under warranty will take a week for me to get service. Also important to note advertise “10 year warranty” is for a specific part, the actually warranty on the machine is 1 year which is deceptive marketing at best.

U5 error on washer

My clothes dont rinse and its too expensive to fix. I was give a quote of $900 or over $500 with another company. Its not even two years old and Im having issues with washer. How frustrating!!

Not worth the headache

Water stays in drum after a wash. Can’t even return or exchange after a month. Crazy for the price point! Also the first unit I purchased came with a huge dent in it so I had to wait a month to get this one.
