I couldn't believe the reviews until I tried it myself. MagicJack hooks up to your modem or computer and allows you free phone services. It doesn't matter where you are. Just plug it in and it's starts working. Amazing. The sound is crystal clear! You can even download an App so it installs itself onto your smart phone. I use it for both home and on the go and its never let me down. All for about $40.00.

Virtually everyone has internet at home. So, MagicJack is a much less expensive option to have a home phone and it works great. I have mine connected to a wireless handset with a built in answering machine. The bonus part is you can take with you wherever you go. For example you can make and receive phone calls at the hotel you are staying in, including long distance, using the hotel's internet.

VoIP calling replaces the old fashioned phone line

The MagicJack product and service do exactly what they are marketed to do. Super easy and simple to set up. The payment for the device is one-time only and then the monthly payment for the service (less than $3 a month) starts up after the first 12 months because 12 months is included in the purchase price of the device. The only caveat that I have to this product review is that there are actually ways to get VoIP phone service for your home with a larger one-time fee but then $0 after that by using a free VoIP service like Google Voice and a VoIP gateway device. You simply buy the gateway device separately and configure it to connect to the free VoIP service of your choosing. Why didn't I get this route you ask? Because I didn't do enough research before purchasing the MagicJack. Lesson learned and I will most likely not be renewing the MagicJack service after the 12 months is over.

I bought this because I switched from AT&T because they were billing me so much. Now, I don't have to worry. I bought the two year plan (you can new it if you plan on keeping it) and only paid about $70. That's it. you only pay once and you're set. Unless you want it for longer, then you can pay for another year. Really like this feature. I get good quality too, so it's a good deal for a good price.

Got it out of box and plugged it in and had it going within minutes. Was able to make phone calls immediately however took 7 days to port my number over from previous carrier.

Less than $50. for the Magic Jack and a year of service - what a great deal! No monthly charge and great service for this voice over IP. The sound is great most of the time, but sometimes it will echo or break up a bit, which is annoying. Most of the time, though, you can hear everything clearly and it was very easy to get set up and working. And no service contract or deposit - such a great deal!

Very pleased with our MagicJack so far. Been paying an arm and a leg for monthly home phone. The MagicJack set up, porting process and functionality went very smoothly. Customer service answered my one question and we've been happy since installation. Will definitely sign up for the 100 dollar 5 year plan. Cannot beat the quality and price, not to mention the easy to use mobile app. I highly recommend!

I purchased two of these to replace two suddenlink land lines. I was a bit skeptical at first and had a challenge with support when configuring the first device. I realized it was my mistake but I did have to wait 10 days for the issue to be resolved at magicjack site. But then I just plugged the device into the ethernet and connect my 4 station phone to the device. All of the phones work great. I have no issues with audio, clarity, dropped calls - works as great as former land lines. I purchased a second device to replace my home business line. It worked perfectly. I have a high resolution windows laptop, and to run the app on windows, you may need to put it in display compatibility mode (like a lot of apps) to make it look larger. I like being able to block calls, especially the 800 etc. scammers. I think I can block 100 numbers. The web site to manage the device is well written and easy to understand. I can get calls remotely and check message via the app. One current glitch is that the app only works with one device. Fortunately, my bride uses one number and I use the other. No big deal for us. I also took the device with me on a trip and it worked just fine. This was useful when skiing where my mobile phone was roaming. I plugged to condo land phone into the device connected to local ethernet and it worked great. I could have use my mobile phone over wifi to but this provided another handset. Faxing works no problem. Very nice device. I pay 1/12 of what I was paying previously.

    Beats OOMA and Von**e

We had Von**e for years. Changed to O**A to save some money. Upgraded that to a business service about a year ago with 2 lines when my wife started working from home. Recently O**a has had some outages so we changed to 1 line from them and got MagicJack for the 2nd line so we still had a phone for her to use. Sound quality is amazing and service costs about the same for a year as we pay each month for O**a

Love this item. Had to tweek my firewall to get optimal performance but it is 30 a year vs 350.00. Definately a better option and you can port your number, get a new one, and unlist it. Yay privacy.

This is a great product. I used to spend over $60 a month on phone service. I have eliminated my outdated phone service and use the magic jack. It saves you a great deal of money and works great. It's also very easy to install and you can port your old phone number with ease. Works great on your high speed internet.

I've had this for a little while now and I have to say so far, I love it. I got rid of my CRAZY expensive monthly phone bill. This came with one year of free service. When I registered this on line to keep my original phone number that I have had for years, I paid $118 to transfer my number and an addiition 5 years. So now I don't have to worry about a another phone bill for 6, that's right, 6 years. Phone quality is great, honestly you can't tell the difference. Great investment and MAJOR money savings. Plus the bonus is when my home phone rings, it also rings on my iPhone and Apple Watch no matter where I'm at. I always saw this on TV and thought it was cheesy, boy was I wrong. I wish I had got this years ago and saved all the Money I was throwing away on phone bills. Converting my parents next.

Magic Jack is an excellent phone option for expats and their families back home. It is very easy to set-up and use -- both the phone and the account. Also, it is incredibly inexpensive and there are no additional or hidden fees after purchasing and installing the Magic Jack.

I bought this for my mom to help her save some money, this is a great option but has a few limitations. It does not work for multiple phones unless your phone has a loop through option or you get a line splitter. It is a lot of work to get it done the first time especially if it is a big house but worth it. Or if you have a wireless phone system with one master station and several satellites that get their signal from the master. The other thing that was disappointing was that the caller ID features only work when the magic jack is plugged into the computer. But for $30 a year and your first year free with the unit purchase you can not beat the amount of money you can save over a traditional phone line

We dropped our local and long distance land line phone service provider due to the high cost and extremely poor customer service. We've found that Magicjack is only as good as your internet connection, so make sure your ISP provides stable service with high enough upload and download speeds to enable the device to work properly. Customer service is primarily online and the representatives who I interacted with were knowledgeable and able to answer all my questions during the setup process. We opted to run our MagicjackGO device through our modem rather than through a computer which has worked fine. The only complaint I have is with Caller ID, for some reason it only shows the callers number not the callers name. Other than that, we're satisfied with the device and definitely satisfied with the savings for our phone bill.

Have used M J before in Minnesota and Florida. Device works well in both locations. The current device which plugs into an outlet and doesn't need to go through a computer but connects to the modem directly has proven to be a relatively reliable device. The cost factor is really a big benefit!
