Q: can one magicjack work on multiple phones?
A: YES. I have my magic jack attached to the router and the base phone of my cordless phone set attached to the magic jack. I have 6 cordless phones on this system on three different floors and six different rooms in my house.
A: Mine is hooked directly into my router.
Q: do i need cords for the magic jack
A: Yes, you will need a network cable to your router (supplied) or a computer with open USB port and a phone cord to your home phone or home base station.
A: I hooked up my FAX machine using a splitter so that I don't have to change the connections and it sends a FAX just like my old phone service.
Q: Can I use my current phone number with Magic Jack?
A: Go on line as if you are signing up and put in your old phone number - there is a list of exchanges that they have - if your exchange is on it, you can use your old phone number.
Q: do i have to leave my computer on
A: No. The magic jack does need to be connected to the internet if you are using a plug in phone. If you are using the magic jack app on your smart phone then the adaptor doesn’t need to be plugged into the internet.
A: You will have to purchase a new magicjack. Then call them and they will transfer your existing number over to your new device for free.
A: Yes, it is common from time to time. Compare what you are paying for a year, with what you would pay with say a cable company. Huge savings with MagicJack, but from time to time some issues. I would only use it on high speed cable internet access, NOT on DSL. I recently purchased a new corded / cordless phone from Best Buy, and the clarity now is A LOT better. Make sure your phone is NOT a cheapy, you get what you pay for. Also shut down your cable modem for a min or so, once a week, and that seems to keep calls A LOT clearer. And if you have a call that last 1 hour and 45 minutes, you will get cut off. Tested in different locations, ALWAYS disconnects you. With that said, I AM GETTING READY TO RENEW FOR ANOTHER YEAR, it is worth it!!!
