Modem would not go on-line with Comcast
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Waited 10 days for device to arrive. Spent several weeks trying to get MB8600 device to work with over 10 hours of advanced technical phone support with Comcast and 2 technician visits with no success. Returned modem to Best Buy and ordered different model (SB8200).

This review in ONLY for the Best Buy description
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This review in ONLY for the Best Buy description. If you are looking for a modem with 4 LAN ports, don't buy this one. Per the Best Buy description under Specifications it states 4 LAN ports... it does NOT have 4 - it only has 1 LAN port. Useless for our office set up. I needed 4.

ok
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Its ok. I purchased and returned it. It did not have a good range. Our house is brick and we have it located in the basement. It would be good for a smaller house. We purchased one with a modem and router.

Frustration with device management
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Problems with device management, when I chose not to use their cloud management software and instead wanted to log in locally. The router allows this, but my connected devices were showing up as not connected, so I could not manage them. The firmware was up to date, so I ended up resetting the router and when that didn't work, I activated the cloud management service. Once I did that, I was able to manage devices. But this should never have happened, as a lot of people want the security of managing their own device locally & not allowing remote management. Please design & test your software for both kinds of users, so we aren't frustrated trying to control the equipment we own.

Crashes and no way to remotely reboot
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have tried twice to make this work, but it occasionally crashes. This is a huge problem because my security system requires a wifi connection and unless I am home there is no way to remotely reboot the cable modem!

Do NOT purchase
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Would give 0 stars if possible. We bought this modem to increase our internet speed but now have the most unreliable internet connection requiring multiple power off/on cycles to retrigger a connection.

Not Compatible
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sold at store as "Compatible". It is NOT compatible with the ATT Fiber Service Modem / Router which is required by ATT per ATT. I am guessing it is a good unit but had to return it..

Mr
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I decided to get this motem instead of renting one from my internet provider, it was the cost effective alternative since I would have paid the company much more in the time I will need their services. Set-up is very user friendly and took less than 10 minutes to get up and running. My internet has been fast and my connection uninterrupted since setting it up, even while gaming and being upstairs! I recommend this option if you’re looking to set up an internet connection at home.

Don’t buy
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Will likely not be buying from “Best” Buy again. Bought a modem. Never opened it and just realized the item I purchased and received a week later via mail had a return window that closed much sooner than realized. Very upset that since business practices of avoiding going to the store have changed, other practices have not. Bought on April 28th and return window closed May 14th. Really?

Excellent cable modem - runs cool and ultra stable
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router runs cooler than my Arris SB8200 did (also D3.1) and I like the stand better than the CM1000. The MB8600 has a dedicated power button (very nice touch), runs much cooler than the SB8200 did, I get no codeword errors and it is ultra stable (currently over 95 days of up time without a reboot). Highly recommended modem! PS: It is bigger than the Arris SB8200 but I don't mind since the MB8600 runs cooler (perhaps thanks to larger housing) and the modem is in a corner of the room beside a media stand.
