My son states that this is the best gaming computer.

We purchased the 1st laptop. Last summer (2016) within a short time the sound card or speakers stopped working. We exchanged for a second laptop same make different model and the same thing happened. This is our 3rd try. So far so good.

It's a gaming computer so of course it is awesomey

Build quality is very nice. It worked fine with most gaming. But when playing online games there is a slight stutter every time the game had a new sound. On fast paced mobas it becomes a problem. I returned it for this reason.

Well, we bought this laptop for my son who wanted a laptop w/ discrete graphics card to be ale to play the latest PC games. Unfortunately, the sound on this laptop is the worst I have ever heard on a computer. It's like a tin can on the other side of the room. I thought it might be defective, but they all sound this way. Although the size and weight are very similar to the 15" Apple Macbook Pro, you will neve confuse this machine with that one. The build quality makes this a "not worth the money" assessment. If you are going to price like Apple, you need to be like apple in quality.

I returned the laptop immediately. It doesn't have good battery life. 3 hours on web use with display (which is also not very good) at 50%. For the price you may want to look at a similarly spec hp omen or Asus ROG laptop... similar 10 series graphics cards. this laptop was light. but very wide for a 15.6". seems flimsy too. the display is easily bendable. tons of bloatware. keyboard is cramped. fans always on. I looked at the laptop at around $1400. you have better options. Even with all of this. I would recommend going into a Best Buy and looking at it for yourself compared to similar laptops.

I wanted something simple and effective and I got it. No fuss no muss.

Im first going to say this laptop is horrible at first. So much bloatware that it makes a 10 year old laptop seem fast. BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING I WOULD RECOMMEND YOU REINSTALL A FRESH COPY OF WINDOWS AND START FROM SCRATCH. Go to the windows site and download windows 10 onto a USB. When installing fresh copy delete all the partitions that msi put on this device. After you finish installing, go partition your other drive (usually your D drive).The only thing you need to download is SteelSeries Engine 3 (for leds on the keyboard), Microsoft Visual C++(has code in it for some games to run like battlefield 1), Geforce Experience from nvidia (controls graphics card), and what all the software you must have. After that, have fun with a great laptop. MY REVIEW AFTER FRESH WINDOWS INSTALL Good...... RGB Keyboard- Has a great feel to it. Love typing on it Screen-Nice and bright (only 60hz) Gaming- Will/Should run any game at 60 fps Ports-Has tons of options for usb ports options Quiet-While not gaming Boot time- real fast (make sure to disable all the stuff you dont want to start in the background) I could list all the specs i like about it but im not. Bad...... Speakers- they are on the bottom of the laptop. sound muffled and not strong. Fans- I have to put this here because everyone does. (ITS A GAMING LAPTOP. OF COURSE ITS GOING TO BE LOUD WHEN GAMING) Heat-Gets hot while gaming (well DUH!) Volume button-oooooo wait......it doesnt exist. have to FN plus arrow key. You can just download sharp keys and set up other keys you will never use as your volume button. The only reason i took off a star was because of the speaker. At this price point it shouldnt be an isssue.

The HDMI cord is on the right hand side of the laptop and the three 3.0 USB ports are on the left hand side of the laptop. I got this along with the Oculus Rift from Best Buy after being told by multiple employees that it will run. Well, I finally solved the cord issue by spending more money on USB 3.0 extender cords only to then find out that the GTX 1060 is the minimal requirement for "VR Ready" and also to find that it will not even recognize the sensors, which I also bought with the Oculus. So for me, this has sadly been a very expensive waste of time and money as by the time I got it all figured out, it has now passed the 15 day return policy and I am left with a Oculus I can't use and a decent VR ready laptop that I can't use for VR. Overall, this is a beast of a laptop but I would that to look elsewhere and not purchase this product if you intend to use it for VR.

Would highly recommend you pick a different one. Please consider a different laptop.
