Simple setup and super fast speed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have my old modem for a long long time and the speed has not been great. I recently upgraded to a new router and the speed is faster now. After doing some digging, I found out that I have an old DOCSIS 2.0 modem which limits the speed I can get from Comcast. The setup for the Netgear CM500 modem is easy. Just plug it in and follow the instruction on the Xfinity web interface to activate. The whole process is painless and take less than 15 minutes for the modem to be up an running. This modem works great with Xfinity. After the setup, I test the speed immediately to see if it is much faster. With my old modem, I get about 20MBps. With the CM500, I am getting close to 50MBps consistently. This is insanely fast. In my household, I have 4 computers, 3 Ipads, and a few iPhones. Many times, I will be downloading stuffs, streaming video online, surfing the web by multiple people. The performance is much more consistently with this new modem even with multiple heavy use connection. Overall, I am very happy with the reliable performance and increase in speed for this modem.
