A: It is a modem that is compatible with Comcast and Xfinity, and it handles the new Comcast Blast speeds.
Q: is the router and the modem the same thing or i have to buy the two.
A: Modem is different from the router, some companies make a combination units (Modem and the WIFI Router), I personally prefer to have this as separate units. Modem brings the internet connection from cable or telephone company to your router and router distribute the internet connection to your devices (phone, TV, Etc..) that connect to internet.

Q: How will the Netgear-Docsis 3.0 High Speed Modem work with Comcast Internet
A: It works GREAT with my Comcast cable service. It's very easy to install. With Comcast (XFINITY) service; it pretty much configures itself.

A: Sorry, no it does not
A: If you provide them with the MAC address and the serial number of the modem they can remotely set it up if you hook it up I did that with mine
