Works good, always stays connected. This and the netgear N600 router I bought were very easy to set up. I use 1 desktop, 2 laptops, wireless printer, and 1 usb protable backup drive. They all work good together.

This product is way better than our previous 2Wire. It reaches throughout our entire home without problems. I would have switched long ago but I guess I thought they were all the same as far as distance reach.

I know Router. You, sir, are no router!

A Router is a machine that takes network traffic from several inputs (wired and/or wireless) and routes the signals to where they need to go. In some descriptions of this product it is listed as a router/modem combo. In the settings screen it has a Router/DSL mode. Its not a router. If you have a real router in your home you probably have it set up with your DSL user name and password to do the connecting automatically for you. It looks like the 'Router' mode in this modem keeps your login info and logs in for you. Using the setup CD included puts the modem into this Router mode by default. If then you hook up your real router it will not work. Set the modem back to modem only mode and it is fine. Otherwise this is a simple and affordable product that does its job as expected.

    Issues

I use with a router so had same issues as others with the set up and configuring. One of my devices still not working correctly. Technical support is located in another country and there were obvious communication challenges. The device is not supported by Century Link so they could not assist either. May return this modem

Great product, highly recommended. It's better to use this and separate router than the 2-in-1 junk your ISP will give you!

    Misleading packaging

Bought this router to use with AT&T DSL as the packaging and website description both claimed compatibility with AT&T (except U-Verse). Upon attempting to use it with AT&T DSL, discovered it is in fact NOT compatible and had to purchase one directly from AT&T for my DSL to work. Can't share anything on the quality or reliability of the product since I wasn't able to use it.

Bought this modem because 1) most of the reviews were favorable, and 2) I didn't feel like getting another modem from my provider (although best buy did have one of theirs in stock too). after 5 days, and multiple phone calls to my ISP as well as netgear, I determined that I had a piece of junk. Each company kept pointing the finger at the other saying the issue was on their end, finally I took it back and did get my ISP's modem that best buy stocks. and lo and behold my DSL is working great again.

    Never Worked

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I purchased this product to replace my no-longer-supported model that had started losing connection with my ISP (CenturyLink) on a regular basis. Neither the automated configuration nor manually entering the data enabled it to connect. I spent two hours on the phone with Netgear, where the tech simply had me repeat everything that I had already done (after taking fifteen minutes to register the product) and eventually told me that there was nothing else he could do at his level. He promised a return call the next day, which never came. I returned it and bought the next least expensive model from a different manufacturer, and it was plug-and-play - no configuration necessary.

    Don't waste your money

Internet stopped working so called ATT about DSL line. Was assured line working. Called Netgear Tech Support. Really hard time understanding person in India. About considerable time resetting modem I was told I could get a replacement. Only problem was that I had to pay to ship defective unit back to company at my expense and pay for insurance in case it was lost in shipment. When they received the defective one that was only in use for 6 weeks, they would send me the replacement at no charge. What if second only works for 6 weeks. So, I am using my old 2Wire Modem I purchased from ATT and internet works. The Netgear will be shipped to my trash can at no expense to me except for the $49.00 and tax I paid for a junk modem.

Poor Set-Up Genie - no option to use as Modem

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I have spent over 5 hours trying to get this ATT DSL modem/router to work with my Linksys E1000. First, this is not a Modem as is advertised. It is a modem/router - two distinct devices. The set-up genie only allows you to configure this device as a modem/router. It gives you NO option to set-up as a Modem only. You must read the manual to find how to change the device setting to modem-bridge and it can only be done on-line not remote on your PC. This will cause you great difficulties when you try to make it work with your wireless router. Netgear customer support is NO help. They do not have a clue as to what to do to get it to work with a wireless router. They pushed me off to call Linksys for help. They insist it is just a modem - it is NOT. I finally had to pay Linksys to configure both the modem/router and wireless router. It was not an easy job either. Bottom line, if you have only one PC to connect to the internet then this modem is fine. If you have to use a wireless router - forget it, you will be in misery for many hours. Get another device.
