4 ethernet ports. Only 1 available.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Why? I have no idea. I can hook up my computer or my wifi router. But. Not. Both. Speed is great when the computer is hooked to the modem. When the computer is routed through the wifi, everything slows down including the computer. Very misleading. Why have 4 ethernet ports when only one is usable? I'm returning this and going back to my rented Ubee modem which had 4 available ports. Never buying Netgear again. This is ridiculous.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I hope you have a router only 1 useabkenethernet port, mine finally crapped out on me where I have to hold their reset butttonnevery few hours. Last netgear for me, also do t hit advertised 1200mnps and my clmlcsdt plan is set up for 1200. Personally, I’d stay away. Have it paired to an Asus gaming router and ethernet hub. This might have been one of my worst purschases tech wise

Don't waste your money or time
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had netgear products for over 2 years. I have dealt with dropped signal, erratic latency issues, inconsistent bandwidth for download and upload streams. I've called customer service during every problem and they have to walked me through custom settings and have me constantly updating firmware and unplugging my modem and router everytime I have an issue. This is not because of the virus or security protection on the router. The "TOTAL" so called "WARRANTY PROTECTION" only lasts 90 days for having customer service help you out with the garbage they put out in products. Even the newest AX series products dont work. I set up the new AX6000 with the CM1200 and after about a week it couldnt hold a constant connection for my games I've played. Always getting kicked from rooms. Latency issues causing me to get kicked from very important games. I've spent around 1000 in the last 2 years in NETGEAR modems, routers and range extenders. I'm done wasting money on netgear, and you should too.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well I wanted to line this but apparently the ports were dead. What a waste of time trying to trouble shoot a dead modem over the phone with the Cable company. They ended up sending a tech over and he concluded that the ports weren’t communicating even though the office saw the modem but router did not. Geek squad guys that were I the store all advised me to get an Arris modem instead of replacing it with another Nighthawk.

Poor product and a poor return policy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased the modem just over a month ago and it has failed. I was replacing an older Surfboard 6900 because I wanted my modem to match the capabilities of my NightHawk AX6 WiFi router. Not a great move apparently. After a week of sporadic or very slow access to the internet, I contacted my provider and we performed rigorous troubleshooting complete with reconnecting my old modem. It was determined that the CM1200 modem had an internal issue that we could not resolve. Multiple attempts at restarting and performing multiple resets to factory default settings would not resolve the connection issue. Currently waiting for NETGEAR to contact me with a viable solution. I wish BestBuy didn't make you pay for additional time for returns. This is why people are buying from Costco and Amazon. Return Policy is EVERYTHING!

Waste of time and money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased the NightHawk Cable Modem, model CM1200, 3 days ago specifically because it says, on the box, connect to several wired devices, presumably at the same time, How wrong that is. after talking to 3 senior techs at Net Gear, they finally admitted that you can have only one (1) internet connection at a time. If that is the case, why have 4 ports? Wasted 2 days on the phone, mostly on hold listening to horrible music, to finally get that answer. Waste of money.

Terrible Modem - Only 1 ethernet port can be used
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are thinking of buying this modem to use more than one of the ethernet ports on the back, FIND ANOTHER BRAND! This modem will only allow one of the ethernet ports to be used. If you hook up more than one device you will get conflicting IP address errors. I am a novice at setting up small networks and have some decent experience in the IT field. Trying to get my four devices hooked up on this thing was a TOTAL NIGHTMARE! After verifying with my ISP that I do NOT have to spend more money for additional IP address, (as others have suggested in other reviews) I got so fed up with this modem and the lack of any helpful documentation that I am returning it. I went to an Xfinity store and leased another one of their modems that has four working ethernet ports. I was on the phone for 15 minutes to get it activated and everything started working as it should. I spent 6 hours trying to get this CM-1200 to work and it was a total waste of time. I am hoping to save someone else the headache that this modem will cause you if you need more than one ethernet port to work at the same time.

Cannot change IP or turn off DHCP.. WHY??
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Totally Blows.. They made it so you cannot change the internal IP address or turn off DHCP, Seriously? Why? Maybe it's fast but it wont work without reconfiguring my entire network so, I will be returning it tomorrow.

It took less than a year to fail twice DON'T BUY!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased in January 2020, by December 2020 I began to have stable connection with my internet. So I talked to netter and they concluded it was my firmware and I needed to purchase a reset on a new firmware to connect back to internet. Well with wife working from home I needed something that would help her continue working. Oh the purchase included 6 months of tech support for $90. RIPPED OFF! Again this modem failed and netgear was blaming internet and google wifi. So I talked to Spectrum tech and he advised me to get Motorola 32x8 docsis 3.1 cable modem, which is $50 cheaper. Good that I purchased Protection Plan because Best Buy took it back no problem. Thx Best Buy

it worked for 5min
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.this review is for 'Netgear CM1200 Cable Modem Serial #6YC12272A0A60'. purchased Dec2022, to active WOW ISP. installed modem, activated thru wow, initially only my desktop would connect. accessed wow website, viewed account page but neither my LG smart TV or my Roku would connect. reset/recycled all 3 of my Ethernet Cat5 connected devices and modem. after that nothing would connect, couldn't even access the modem IP. re-connected the ATT Nokia BGW320 and everything came up 100%. replaced the CM1200 with a Moto MG8702 and everything is up 100%. returned junk Netgear for a refund.

Very slow speeds.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have struggled with this modem ever since I bought it. I wish I would have read the 1 star reviews before buying. I have 1gig service and I can't get anywhere close to that through this modem. 300mb or 400mb at most. I have had comcast come out multiple times and test the line and they seem confident I'm getting the full 1 gig service. I tried calling netgear but since I am out of the 90 day period they want to charge me to put new software or something on my modem. Really? You want to charge me to fix a faulty system. I rather invest in a new modem and a new brand.

Would Not Work With Google Wifi
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I spent HOURS working with Netgear, whose customer "support" was nice but totally useless, and Google, whose support spent hours with me trying to troubleshoot this device. Should be able to just plug Google Wifi into one of the ports, but the modem refused to talk to Google no matter what we tried. I finally gave up, returned it back to Best Buy, and bought the Arris SBG8300. It worked immediately. True plug and play. Been happy with it so far. The Nighthawk also required a ton of reboots to work with our system and would not work with a switch we have either. Really disappointing.
