Beware! Does Not Work with Spectrum.

It worked fine for 3 weeks and then suddenly my internet keeps on failing. My kids would get logged out from their distance learning and cannot even go online. I have Spectrum 400 MB. If it works, it has crawling download speed of 2-40 MB. I called spectrum 4 different times and they troubleshoot it over the phone but no success. Spectrum tech came in today and did not find any issues with the lines or connection. The issue was this Netgear modem. He replaced the modem and it's back to over 400 MB speed. It was over the 2 week return period per BestBuy so they cannot help me.

I'm also a fan of keyholes so that items like this could be hung on a wall. Other than those minor issues, everything seems fine.

Ended up returning it

I would have to unplug it multiple times a day and also reset it after that first week. It was very frustrating since I thought I bought a high end modem only to have issues constantly. I ended up exchanging it for an $80 surfboard and haven’t ran into any issues even though it is the one known for having a bad chip in it. Maybe I had a faulty modem who knows but as of now I am using the surfboard.

Defective and manipulated MAC address

Hooked it up and it didn’t work. Called Xfinity twice and paid for one of their techs to come out. He discovered there was a sticker with a MAC address placed over the original MAC address number. We removed it and finally Xfinity could recognize the modem but it didn’t work. Apparently it was defective and someone faked the MAC address sticker for some reason. Horrible experience

Well made modem, didn’t work well for me.

My provider is Comcast and I was able to get it registered. When I was using it there was heavy packet loss with everything I used, around 30 percent. I ended up returning it and renting a modem from the provider.

No real warrantee on failed hardware.

This modem failed after the 90 day "Free" support. It only lasted 6 months and the network ports all died. When I called to get the "Free" 1 year replacement, I was asked to provide a credit card for $129 support contract. I DID NOT want a support contract. I was then told that I needed the support contract to replace the modem. I now have a useless brick. I will NOT be doing business with NetGear ever again if this is their business model.

Drop signal constantly

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Started out with a connection that was equal to the CM600 which is a 4-year older model and a 24x8 channel 3.0. I ended up returning this as the very next day I woke up with no internet and as soon as I called spectrum back and went back to the CM600 my speeds were 230 down and 11.74 up the highest the CM1200 3.1 ever got was 220 down 10.6 up which is very disappointing as this is a 20/20 model and what the CM600 is probably a 2014 model. Obviously they haven't improved much and I have it paired with a r7400 Netgear nighthawk router which runs flawlessly

Died after 13 months

Died after just a couple of months

Today, the 7th of April 2021 it finally died after being unreliable for a couple of weeks. Seemed to work fine for a couple of months, but come to find out the older model Arris modem I replaced it with is also giving me a faster connection. Hard to understand how the same company that makes great home network/wifi routers, NETGEAR, can sell such an unreliable modem under the same Nighthawk brand name.

So expensive and unreliable product

Netgear will only give you 3 months of troubleshooting. Netgear will not take a lost on nothing even on return products. Netgear is all about the money they can get out of you. And best buy should at least be able to swap this item for up to a year. Not netgear or bestbuy will lose. Just the cuatomer.

Dead after 16 months, save your money

Even when the cable tech connected directly to the modem, it refused to send the appropriate signals. Of course, the warranty is already expired, so now I have an expensive paperweight. It appears all of the reviews on here are all shorter term reviews. It was great at first, but these devices should last a lot longer than 16 months.
