It's almost as easy and plug and play. It was very simple to get the router and network to recognize the device. However, every time I do a speed test on a device, for some reason it interferes with the booster and I end up having to unplug and plug it back in to reset it and then the signal is normal again..............Weird

I needed to expand my wifi coverage in the house, and the tech recommended this one. So far it's doing a good job.

I'm sure if it were in better range, this unit would work just as well as an Airport Express but it gave me about the same coverage (less than what I needed). I returned this item and figured out a different hardwired solution BUT that doesn't mean it wouldn't work within certain parameters. I'd recommend to someone looking to extend a wireless network within a smaller space.

Power line performance if great. WiFi leaves a bit to be desired. Only getting around 10 to 17 MB/S from WiFi.

It was good but a little confusing at first because it creates a new name for wifi but you get the hang of it.

This thing is really plug and play, you will only need the instructions if it doesn't work the first time. Here's a hint if it doesn't work the first time, move it to a different plug.
As far as recommending to a friend - I DID buy this one for a friend.

We purchased this Netgear Powerline 500 Wireless Acess Point a few weeks ago and had to paint and move furniture before we installed it. My husband and I are not technically savvy, but the directions were not hard to follow and it is working perfectly.

We had bad wifi reception and this thing solved the problem! Not only can I now plug my computer in directly where there is an outlet (for Internet), but our wifi network is mirrored on both sides of the house which has improved reception.

Great Solution To Wireless Connectivity Problems

Great device for people dealing with wireless connectivity problems. Have a large apartment where running a hardwire LAN connection was a serious challenge, so used this to "hard-wire" a computer in the back room where wireless connection signal was poor. Worked like a charm and was a simple setup. Great device for the price. Make sure you have a 3-prong (grounded) outlet available where you want to connect both units. Won't be as fast as direct connection, but a cheap and easy fix that sufficient for most basic internet purposes.

My house has metal siding and it's L shaped so the signal wouldn't go through the walls to my bedroom. I plugged this access point into an outlet in my bedroom and it cast a wifi signal to that whole side of the house. It took a while to set it up, it's not really complicated, but the instructions could be a little clearer. I had a problem with my PC recognizing it but I had the same problem when I was trying another cheapy wifi range extender so I think that problem is more likely with my router. If you have a Netgear router there is a quick setup option that I didn't get to use, but without it, all you do is go into the units settings and give it the same name and password as your existing wifi router, then you don't have to setup a new connection on all of your devices. Connection slows down a little in the evening, probably because everyone in the neighborhood is using their cable, but overall it seems to be just as good of a connection as the hardwired one to my main router.

I purchased this to extend my network to the garage. The setup was easy and was working in a matter of 20 minuets. The problem I encountered was with a previous powerline system already in my house. The 2 systems fought with each other so I returned my purchase and went wireless.

Does exactly as I needed....provide a stronger signal throughout the house.
Set up and installation was a little difficult and took a couple of hours to finally get it right. Instructions are sometimes ambiguous. Many acronyms that I am not familiar with were used in the step by step instructions. I suggest that new buyers, who are not techies, have a knowledgeable friend help with installation.,
