I had been using the built in Playstation 4 wifi to connect to PSN and stream Netflix/Hulu/Amazon Prime Video. The built in WiFi on the PS4 isn't the best however so decided to give this Powerline adapter a try. As hoped my download speeds are consistently higher. As a result large downloads such as system or games/updates take considerably less time. I also seem to have better ping time and have noticed improved video/audio streaming performance. In terms of set up it was incredibly easy. I had everything connected and working in 15 minutes. The unit is small enough so that if plugged into the bottom outlet the top outlet is not blocked. I should mention that my modem is on the second floor while my PS4 is in the finished basement. The included instructions are clear and the Genie App installed from the Netgear website is useful for seeing a map of your network connected devices. It's useful to note that you do not want to plug this into a power strip or surge protector. You will want to plug this directly into an outlet. I tried and it was unable to connect to the other unit upstairs. I've been using this daily primarily for the above video streaming services and some gaming for about a month straight and have had zero connection issues. I recently did some work on a ceiling fan and accidentally cut the power to the room with the unit connected to the PS4. When I restored the power the unit had no issues reconnecting on it's own. I would definitely recommend this product.

This does in fact use the A/C lines in the house to "extend" Ethernet. However, it cuts the bandwidth by a factor of 4-10x depending on circumstances. And that's even if you get a "green light" saying the outlet pairs meet the criteria and specs of the device. I spent an entire Saturday trying to make it work at a reasonable speed. Even NETGEAR Tech Support 800# couldn't figure out it. RETURNED THEM.

Solid powerline adapter kit, worth the price

This kit will give you the minimum number of adapters you'll need to set up a powerline network. The kit comes with everything you need to set up the network. I've been using mine for two weeks and have only had one drop out (which may have been caused by the modem/router rather than the adapters). Otherwise they've been solid and have given me at or near the full download speed from my cable connection. As a note, if you need to you can set up as many as sixteen adapters around your house. The only caveat is you need to plug them DIRECTLY in to the wall socket and not in to a power strip or surge protector. They tend not to work due primarily to signal loss through the strip/protector circuitry.

Simply dies not work. Period. Tried in many different configurations with different routers. Still didn't work. All the equipment is Netgear. Usually reliable Netgear has a real stinker with this one.

I have the unfortunate luck of living in an apartment complex in which the landlord decides what internet plan we're on. Being a gamer this has been troublesome. Our router is in a closet far from my room, so I had to rely on my Xbox One's network adapter. Well, that was not working. I was having trouble playing Black Ops 3 and I exhausted all my options (port forwarding, DMZ, etc.). FINALLY I found on an old thread in the Xbox forums about powerline adapters so I went to Best Buy and picked this up. I would have preferred to spend less than $60 but at this point I just wanted to be able to play with low ping and low latency. This does EXACTLY what I had hoped. Don't confuse it for a repeater (those do not work for gaming). My ping remains steady around 40-50 and I get 0% packet loss. Prior to this adapter, my Xbox indicated my down was around 1 (yes ONE) and up was less than that. Now I get around 45 down and 15 up. Gaming is fun again!

    Excellent, within reasonable expectations

These adapters work great, as long as you have reasonable expectations. The distance between the units will greatly affect overall speed, as will the circuits they are on within your home. Each house will have different qualities of wiring, and different lengths for each circuit. Testing a number of possible combinations is a must if you're looking for maximum speed. A test with the units plugged in side-by-side yielded a maximum of 9MB/S, which is great if you're looking to expand a wireless network, or are merely concerned with Internet accessibility. If you're looking for gigabit speed connections for high speed file transfer, this isn't going to be your best solution.

We went from getting 20ish MBPS with lots of interference over WiFi to 46+ MBPS using the NetGear Powerline system. We have had to unplug and replug them a couple of times in the last two months but generally it seems to be reliable. This works with a different NetGear Powerline adapter as well, so we have a total of 4 adapters on our network - 2 with included electrical outlets, and two without. I would purchase this again if something were to happen to our existing ones. They're a lifesaver if working from home with a lot of interference on the wireless network.

    Exceeded Expectations

I was looking to get data out to my detached garage. I am kicking myself for not burying a network cable while I was burying the electrical. I really have no ambition to dig yet another trench so I started looking at options. I saw this device and was very skeptical. But, my garage has a load panel that is connected to my main box in my house so I thought I would give this a try. (I was also skeptical as I did all of the wiring myself.......all met code and was passed by inspector, but I still did it myself.) I plugged the main unit into an outlet in my utility room and connected that to my switch that is dedicated to my security cameras. I went out to the garage and plugged in the other end and was shocked to see a green light indicating a very good signal. I connected that one to a small POE switch and that goes to an outside security camera and almost immediately I started to see video feed from my camera. WOW! It has been running for a week now and is streaming non-stop video data to my DVR software. There is no delay like if I would have gone wireless and it hasn't hiccuped at all yet. Time will tell how this device handles the extreme conditions in a detached garage, but for now I am surprisingly impressed. You never want to run your network cables next to your electrical cables due to interference. And here you are running data ON your electrical cable. This is plugged into a GFI circuit, going into a load center. That load center goes back to my main breaker box which goes through the breaker for the garage, into the back-plane, into another breaker, and then through the cable to the other Netgear device. I have ran my air compressor in the garage and other electrical tools with 0 interference on my camera stream. To say the least, wow.

    EXCELLENT CHOICE VS. WIFI

My Desktop Computer in my home office room is about 45 feet from my WIFI modem. The signal from the modem (which is from Cable One) is very weak and I often lost connection. A Cable One phone technician actually told me about this product so I purchased it and have been 100 percent satisfied. Easy installation, more secure than WIFI. Uses your own house wiring for connection. Not for sure how I would feel about it in a office building, but I am fine with it for a home.

I just bought this after playing many games of NBA 2K15 where it would lag so much and while I'm in parties with friends, it would break up and lag heavily. It got to a point where I didn't even want to play games anymore. Plugged this into my PS4 and the lagging is VERY RARE. I've had it for a week now and only on two short occasions(like 15 seconds) has it lagged. Great Product!!!

I have a security dvr in my detached garage which is about 25 feet from my house. With my router in the house I wanted to be able to view video from my pc in the comfort of my house. After reading all the positive reviews on this product I decided to buy. I was very skeptical, but hey best buy accepts returns. To my surprise I plugged in the units and instant viewing. I followed directions to use dedicated wall outlets. Very pleased with purchase. Just my two cents!
