Great upgrade for many.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First, I build computers for a living, predominantly high end customs. The 1080 IS the next step...if you're upgrading from a 970 or below. I have one on my desk with an i7 5930K in it, and a water-cooled 980 Ti sitting right beside it with an i7 4790K in it. Same MoBo's, RAM, everything even PSU and case. The 1080 gets beaten every way but sideways in this case. I run 4 monitors, 2k and 4k both in my shop, 2 at home. This eval couldn't be more fair. The Asus 1080 out runs the 980 Ti in everything VR related, and it's clock speed is off the hook! And...I noticed not the slightest difference in performance benefits in ANYTHING OTHER than VR, unless that extra 20 degrees C counts as a benefit. I have an R9 Fury, water cooled as well that I can't really compare because of board, socket and CPU differences. The 1080 IS the future with Pascal, and worth every penny at this price. BUT it's NOT at it's potential yet (and it's barely on the shelves). It's perfect for those with 970's who're aching to make the jump...but if you already have a 980 Ti. or even a 980, this card is a step sideways other than crisper VR (and it's noticeably better here than the 980 Ti in that respect) and clock speeds out of the box that don't even have anything out there to use it on yet. I'm excited for what I know it can do, disgusted by the price gouging and marketing, and will watch to see what happens with the various vendors very closely before I recommend this to a client. It may take a while, but so did my Titan X (still a fantastic card as well, still overpriced) Take this for what it's worth and Happy Gaming! I ran everything at Ultra on both cards (Doom 4, Fallout 4, Skyrim (w/176 mods,HEAVY ENB), and several more).

Fried motherboard
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well had higher hopes to use a gtx1080 for video and graphics But installing caused some kind of short? My replacement is 1400 bux! Nvidia gave me a too bad reply and best buy wasn't going to help because "geek squad didn't do the install"? So despite the hype I totally lost my computer? Bummed sucks! No bueno

Defective
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this because they didn't have any more 1070s but it would power down after running at 82% load for around 8 hours. When I returned this item, they took out the destiny bundle for $59.99 even though I never even received the code.

Best cards available when I bought them!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had bought these the day they came out last year. I went to the store and pushed them to look in the back an employee must have hid them in the bottom of a cart so no one would find them. I pushed them to keep looking because I knew they had 2 in stock in North Attleboro because the Seekonk store told me so I guess they can see everything in the area for some reason, even more than best buy call center. So anyway they searched for almost an hour and finally found them. I was so excited to have 1080 SLI and believe me I didn't regret it. I spent 1600$ almost on them. The power of these either in SLI or non SLI is unbelievable. 2k-4k all day max settings. The unfortunate thing is now the 1080ti is out now and wish I had the money to upgrade. These were the baddest boys on the block. Now i see they are charging 50$ more than Nvidia site is. The best thing about best buy is the customer satisfaction guarantee for me it's 45 days because of elite plus and the in store experience vs buying online so the 50$ extra is actually worth it. And they do price match. So make sure you look online and price match and you will be even happier. Thanks best buy for being so awesome. You have tons of kewl stuff. I never regret shopping at best buy.

Great gaming video card
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Absolutely thrilled with this video card. Great value, too. Games are awesome to play and I like that it's much more reasonable than some of the other 1080 video cards. The other thing I like is that I can use pure Nvidia drivers for this card - no 'interpretation' drivers from other manufacturers. Kind of like using pure Android software on a Pixel phone. Pure experience.

This is power.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally bought this card for a system I will be building but I put it in an older system for the time being. I love it so much I'm not sure I want to take it out. It breathed new life into the system, which is a Bloomdale i7. It replaced a GTX 760 so it was a pretty substantial upgrade. Installing it used only one power connector which made me realize how much more efficient modern cards have become. I did have to rearrange some room inside the case, though, as this thing is massive. One last note: installing it in a Linux system took me a little extra work as my distro of choice (Mint 18) didn't have drivers included. It isn't too hard to install them manually but you should be comfortable navigating a command line.

A beast of a graphic card
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I set my games to run at maximum settings in 4k resolution and this card runs them without a stutter.Everything looks as good as it possibly can and runs very smoothly. I am very pleased with this purchase.

great card for newer mmos
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded from a 980 and I think this is the best card for 4k or with a 34 inch overclockable rogue swift like me. Now I can play riders of Icarus at max settings at almost 100 fps with gsync. Its nice eating ice cream and relax, low power required too. If you want to eat ice cream and play riders of Icarus this is for you. U can do 2 . U can also do 2 1070 but then maybe micro stutTer even with HB bridge. I like ice cream and 1080 and riders of Icarus. Bye! No emoji : (

Dizzying
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just paired this with the Alienware Graphics Amplifier for my Alienware laptop, and it is absolutely insane. This card fits perfectly and runs great. Running Fallout 4 with everything set to the max at 60 fps 1080p (limited by vsync to monitor refresh rate) no matter what is going on in the scene. Works great, runs quiet, the boost on this card is nuts, when idle in the AGA it is running at something around 130mhz, but when a game comes on it jumps to 1800+. Since the AGA is just the card, a front fan, and the power supply, it runs cool and quiet. Overall this card is amazing and the price point is very aggressive for a card of this performance level.

WOW Simply Amazing!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm running this in surround at 5760 x 1080 with the Asus Rog G20 16GB Ram, Intel i7 4790 that I also purchased from BestBuy last year. I purchased the GTX 1080 to replace the GTX 760 that came with the Asus PC. All I can say is WOW, at full load running ESO Online Max settings the GPU load is only 60% and runs at 54 degrees C. That is compared to 99% load and 87 degrees C on the GTX 760. The GTX 1080 is a MONSTER, the cooling fans don't even come on and you can't even hear it running. This is bar none the best GPU I have ever seen and used. Monster, monster card I don't plan on doing 4K gaming for sometime and will be at 1080P for now. The GTX 1080 also makes your left and right monitor look better as images are no longer stretched in surround mode. Well worth the money and then some...this card is longer then the GTX 760 by about half an inch but it does still fit no problem in the Asus Rog G20. I know many out there are wondering if the GTX 1080 will run and fit inside of the Asus Rog G20 and it totally does and it is amazing! No need for additional power cords or anything, the single 8 Pin power cable that comes with the Asus Rog G20 is all that you will need. This is truly swap out and play. You will need to fully reinstall the Nvidia drivers after though, even if you update them prior to the GPU swap and install so keep that in mind.

Nvidia GTX 1080 Founders edtion
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ok, first OMG! Yes, this thing Kicks you know what! With 3rd party software you can even overclock it. (Be warned first this may effect your warranty etc...) Running it stock, out of the box, blew every benchmark away I previously with a GTX 970 that was also overclocked, and this card did that at stock settings. DOOM 1016 at 4k, NOT a problem. Not even a hiccup.

Blower Type Cards Not The Best, But Have Their Use
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not the best cooling, but blower style coolers do have their use. For small builds, you want the hot air blown directly out of the case. For larger builds, there are better options, but again blowers have their place.
