Before I get into the nitty gritty, I'll just start off with a summary: this thing is wicked awesome! At first, I was pretty wary of grabbing a Founder's Edition. I read some pretty gnarly reviews when it first came out that it had some pretty glaring heat issues. I'm not really sure what that was all about, or maybe these cards are just updated versions with better cooling, but this thing really doesn't get that hot by most standards. I stress tested it on day one for about 30 mins and it hardly got over 75 C during the test. Mind you, this is sunny southern Cali in the summer heat. My apartment sits at about 78 F ambient temps. Anyway! This thing really is great. I run everything at 2560x1440 and it devastates every game I've thrown at it, maxed out. Crysis 3, Mass Effect Andromeda, Mafia III, Fallout 4, etc. Games hardly ever got below 60FPS and when they did, it was only when things got really intense. It's also important to note that not all games are optimized and a lot of the frame loss you see could be due to not having proper support for multi-threaded CPUs. I've seen games that get below 60FPS but my GPU usage isn't even maxed, which was enough for me to realize it was no fault of my graphics card. Honestly, if you've ever been hesitant about getting one of these, I'd put all that to rest. If you have the money, and don't want to deal with trying to find those aftermarket cards (thanks a lot, crypto-miners) go ahead and buy with confidence on this one. When it comes to gaming, this thing is probably more than you need unless you rock 4K. Then you might wanna just snag a 1080 Ti if you've got loads of disposable income lying around.

What's left to be said about the FE of the 1080 architecture? It's a great card for 1440p, probably overkill at 1080p, but it's not a 4K monster--if you want to run AAA titles with all settings at Ultra in 4K, this probably won't quite cut it, at least not without dipping low enough in FPS to look like a slideshow. I have two running in SLI for a 1440p ultrawide--but the auto-configs on a few of the most recent titles still don't always max out at every setting or keep the framerates deep into the 100s when I do force all settings to max. While I'm not quite at 4K, using DSR to render at 4K definitely makes the framerate take a nosedive on something like Wolfenstein II or Shadow of War. Sure, I could run some tweaks, make some custom fan profiles, and OC for a few more FPS, but by and large, this card is ALMOST, just not quite, the giant killer you might be hoping for if you're gaming with graphics-intensive titles released in the last half year or so. Still, if you have a 1080p or 1440p monitor, one of these alone should keep you happily gaming for a few years to come before you're likely going to start feeling the itch again. Just be aware that the blowers can get LOUD depending on your rig; at 3440x1440 ultrawide, I definitely notice the fans running even on some not-so-demanding titles from a few years back. Still, better that air gets shot out the back than just pushed around inside the case I suppose. All in all, it's a worthy purchase if you can find one, just be aware that it's not quite the top of the heap.

Listen up friends, this here card is worth your hard earned cash. There were times when I told myself that playing the lowest settings was definitely "meta" but I knew I was lying to myself. Somewhere deep in my darkened heart, I knew there was a strong desire to indulge in the life of the highest quality gaming. It was time. Once I purchased this card, I knew what had to be done. I played as many games as I could on the highest graphics settings and not even the slightest sign of weakness was shown from my new card; his green glow of confidence just shining through my cheap case like it was eating only an appetizer before a full four course meal. I have tried to run this thing into the ground and not even a hum has been returned. If you are reading this, its meant for you... Its your turn to let loose and buy yourself a card worthy of your time. Well, I had better get back to my card now... As they always say, "adios muchachos!"

First, I build computers for a living, predominantly high end customs. The 1080 IS the next step...if you're upgrading from a 970 or below. I have one on my desk with an i7 5930K in it, and a water-cooled 980 Ti sitting right beside it with an i7 4790K in it. Same MoBo's, RAM, everything even PSU and case. The 1080 gets beaten every way but sideways in this case. I run 4 monitors, 2k and 4k both in my shop, 2 at home. This eval couldn't be more fair. The Asus 1080 out runs the 980 Ti in everything VR related, and it's clock speed is off the hook! And...I noticed not the slightest difference in performance benefits in ANYTHING OTHER than VR, unless that extra 20 degrees C counts as a benefit. I have an R9 Fury, water cooled as well that I can't really compare because of board, socket and CPU differences. The 1080 IS the future with Pascal, and worth every penny at this price. BUT it's NOT at it's potential yet (and it's barely on the shelves). It's perfect for those with 970's who're aching to make the jump...but if you already have a 980 Ti. or even a 980, this card is a step sideways other than crisper VR (and it's noticeably better here than the 980 Ti in that respect) and clock speeds out of the box that don't even have anything out there to use it on yet. I'm excited for what I know it can do, disgusted by the price gouging and marketing, and will watch to see what happens with the various vendors very closely before I recommend this to a client. It may take a while, but so did my Titan X (still a fantastic card as well, still overpriced) Take this for what it's worth and Happy Gaming! I ran everything at Ultra on both cards (Doom 4, Fallout 4, Skyrim (w/176 mods,HEAVY ENB), and several more).

I made this purchase back on 08/28 and brought this item overseas for my cousin. One of the product Alienware - Graphics Amplifier manufactured by dell did not work from day 1. Upon my return to the states, i took the item to the store and asked for a refund or a replacement. The store manager at Saugas MA mention that since i was out of the 15 day return window, they would not be able to assist and would need to contact bestbuy.com support. After making several calls i was told to reach out to the manufacturer. After making several calls to the manufacturer and i was transferred to various different places and the manufacturer had no clue as to what i was saying. Basically, anytime i spoke to someone at Dell (Alienware) I felt like we were on a different planet. They acted as if this is the first time ever they have experienced a situation where a customer who bought from best buy is being sent to the manufacturer. They didn't event knew how to look up my purchase. So i gave up and called best buy.com support again and i am now being told that i have to go back to the store and work with a store manager. I am now stuck with a product that never worked from day one. This was the worst experience. As long as i am alive, me or any of my family members will never shop at best buy again. Nest I am looking into to see if there is any legal action that i can take against best buy or alienware (dell).

The Pinnacle of Gaming Graphics Performance

I've spent many years using the major performers from both AMD and NVidia, and find that my current allegiance is to NVidia. I've never been one to fanboy one side or the other, generally picking the best price/performance ratio for the specific need. That said, NVidia currently retains the gaming performance crown, and the GTX 1080 is the pinnacle of that performance. Based on the new NVidia Pascal architecture, this card pushes the performance envelope more than any previous generation at lower power requirements. The downside is the price. To be part of this generation of high-end cards, you will pay a pretty penny. That said, this card is capable of silky-smooth VR performance through either of the major VR headsets, it runs almost all games at 4K resolution without breaking a sweat, and does so while looking amazing. I personally have this paired with an i7-4770k, 32GB of RAM and 2TB of SSD space to really take as much advantage of the power as possible. And let me tell you, this card delivers. Having come from a GTX 780, the difference in fidelity is amazing, I've been able to increase the graphics settings in all of my games, and the results are beautiful. I run at-or-near 60 fps consistently on my 4K monitor and I'm enjoying every minute of it. The drivers are mature and the new Geforce Experience 3.0 allows more granular control over the various settings of your games. Pros: Highest performing single graphics card currently 8GB of GDDR5X memory Mature drivers Cons: Very expensive

Best cards available when I bought them!!!

I had bought these the day they came out last year. I went to the store and pushed them to look in the back an employee must have hid them in the bottom of a cart so no one would find them. I pushed them to keep looking because I knew they had 2 in stock in North Attleboro because the Seekonk store told me so I guess they can see everything in the area for some reason, even more than best buy call center. So anyway they searched for almost an hour and finally found them. I was so excited to have 1080 SLI and believe me I didn't regret it. I spent 1600$ almost on them. The power of these either in SLI or non SLI is unbelievable. 2k-4k all day max settings. The unfortunate thing is now the 1080ti is out now and wish I had the money to upgrade. These were the baddest boys on the block. Now i see they are charging 50$ more than Nvidia site is. The best thing about best buy is the customer satisfaction guarantee for me it's 45 days because of elite plus and the in store experience vs buying online so the 50$ extra is actually worth it. And they do price match. So make sure you look online and price match and you will be even happier. Thanks best buy for being so awesome. You have tons of kewl stuff. I never regret shopping at best buy.

I'm running this in surround at 5760 x 1080 with the Asus Rog G20 16GB Ram, Intel i7 4790 that I also purchased from BestBuy last year. I purchased the GTX 1080 to replace the GTX 760 that came with the Asus PC. All I can say is WOW, at full load running ESO Online Max settings the GPU load is only 60% and runs at 54 degrees C. That is compared to 99% load and 87 degrees C on the GTX 760. The GTX 1080 is a MONSTER, the cooling fans don't even come on and you can't even hear it running. This is bar none the best GPU I have ever seen and used. Monster, monster card I don't plan on doing 4K gaming for sometime and will be at 1080P for now. The GTX 1080 also makes your left and right monitor look better as images are no longer stretched in surround mode. Well worth the money and then some...this card is longer then the GTX 760 by about half an inch but it does still fit no problem in the Asus Rog G20. I know many out there are wondering if the GTX 1080 will run and fit inside of the Asus Rog G20 and it totally does and it is amazing! No need for additional power cords or anything, the single 8 Pin power cable that comes with the Asus Rog G20 is all that you will need. This is truly swap out and play. You will need to fully reinstall the Nvidia drivers after though, even if you update them prior to the GPU swap and install so keep that in mind.
