“I have an alienware aurora r6 that already has a gtx 1080. I want to add a 2nd 1080. Do I need to buy a "bridge" or some other part to add the 2nd 1080 to my system ?”

Yes, you will need an SLI bridge. Check with you system manufacturer. Most motherboards come with one if it's sli capable.

yes a bridge is required as well as you will need to adjust your settings once installed

You need to have motherbord with 2 parts where you can connect 2 video cards parallel

Yes you do need a SLI bridge. AMD they use crossfire (software). NVDIA they use a bridge.
