Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the Quest All-in-one VR Gaming Headset's immersive VR experience, ease of use, and impressive graphics. Many appreciate its wireless functionality and the convenience of built-in storage. However, some users note that the headset's weight and battery life could be improved, and that motion sickness and resolution are potential drawbacks for some users.

Not a lot of games, doesn't fit well with everyone using it. Prices to high for what it does. Was a Christmas gift for my daughter and she was very disappoint with it.

    Simply AMAZING !!!

This review isn't going to be like most of mine, long and extremely informative. As this is a unique product, the review will be equally unique. If you want the extremely short version of the review, so that you can skip to the "Final Thoughts" section, here it is: WOW !!! Okay...for those who don't like to read, just skip to the bottom, to the "Final Thoughts" section...for the rest of you, read on.......... I'm not exactly new to VR. I have an Oculus Rift, have greatly enjoyed it, and will continue to enjoy it. However, as anyone familiar with most VR headsets knows, you are either tethered to a computer, or you're using a device similar to the Samsung Gear VR, in which you have to insert your phone to be the brains, as well as the display. What's the Oculus Quest, however, you have the first high-quality, truly stand-alone, VR headsets. This, alone, makes The Quest a unique device. Of course, there are other things that also make it unique, such as the new Guardian, as well as the new controllers. Okay, technically, those two are also shared by the new Oculus Rift S, but, in terms of all VR headsets, it is still somewhat unique...especially the Guardian (which I'll cover in more detail). If you have a Chromecast (or, possibly...as I haven't actually tried this yet...an Android TV with built-in Chromecast ability), you can wirelessly stream a 2D feed to a TV, computer monitor, or even your phone (this last option does not require a Chromecast), so others can see what you’re doing. Once you've downloaded/installed the Oculus app onto your phone, set up is extremely simple, and very straightforward...once you've selected your device ( all current oculus devices are listed within the app), the app walks you through step by step directions. Once everything is up and running, you can purchase apps directly through the Oculus Store while wearing the headset, or through the app on your phone. The last part of the set up procedure is setting up the Guardian, of which will have to redo every time you go to use the Quest (as you might not be using it in the exact same location every time). Speaking of the Guardian, there have been some reports by other media sources, including mentioned within some YouTube videos, about something being referred to as "Guardian drift". I can confirm that this can happen, although that's not saying it will. For my first session (approx 35min), I was in a somewhat limited space, approximately 6ft x 10ft (Oculus recommends a minimum 6.5ft x 6.5ft). Several times I got close to the Guardian barrier (which, visually, reminds me of the grid for the Star Trek Holodeck), and I actually 'broke through' three times. During that time, I'd estimate the barrier moved further away approx 6in, which I don't think is too bad. If you have a larger area than what I was working with, you have a far less chance of getting close to the barrier, and even less of 'breaking through'. I expect oculus will have a firmware update sometime in the near future, fixing this problem, but, in the meantime, I don't think many people will have a real problem with it. THE GOOD: • Reasonable selection of games, and other apps, at release, which I fully expect will grow. • Several hi quality games available upon release. • Outstanding screen resolution. • Excellent controllers (somewhat of an improvement over the original Rift's controllers). • Guardian system (despite the 'drift') is outstanding. • Very good built-in audio, with the option of plugging in headphones (to either side of the headset). • Ability to use a portable charger, to keep the headset running even longer the be standard 2-3hr play time. THE BAD: • Guardian 'drift' (should be fixed in an upcoming firmware update). • Built-in battery has only 2-3hr gameplay (as mentioned in "THE GOOD", gameplay can be extended using an external charger). • No guarantee that current Rift games such as "Star Trek: Bridge Crew") be ported to the Quest. • Currently, no ability to play Steam VR games through the Quest (here's to hoping that might change before the end of the year). THE UGLY: • Price, considering the hardware specs. If the Quest were running a more recent SoC than the Snapdragon 835, I could understand the $400 & $500 prices. Considering the 2+ year-old SoC, the prices should have been able to be lowered by $50. While I put this under "THE UGLY", the truth is, this is actually a very minor quibble, as I am extremely happy with what the quest is, how it performs, and the games already available. The only reason I added it is because I know there will be some people complaining about the price. FINAL THOUGHTS: Honestly, I'm not entirely certain what to put here. If you haven't already gotten the impression that I seriously, seriously, seriously like the Oculus Quest, then you, obviously, haven't read what I've written. Is it the best VR headset available? No. That would go to the Oculus Rift S, or the upcoming Valve Index. Is it the cheapest VR headset available? No. Ignoring the 'crappy' units currently available, that would go to the Google Daydream, Samsung Gear VR, and Oculus Go. Is it the most enjoyable? For this, I'd have to say, "yes". Most importantly, does the Oculus Quest give you the best VR "Bang for the Buck"? The answer is an unequivocable "YES". If you want a truly stand-alone VR headset, look no further than the Oculus Quest.

Purchased this product for Christmas. An hour after setting up, the right controller would not power on. No customer support number. You have to contact support via email. They make you send the product back, have them look at it, and send a replacement. That whole process took about 2 weeks. While waiting for that controller, the left controller did the same thing. The worst customer support I have ever dealt with.

My son saved up for month's to purchase this! But the controller was already broken when he opened it. We tried to exchange it, even contacting several different Best Buys. Nobody had any in stock. We checked for weeks, until they finally said we should just contact Oculus directly. We are now in discussion with Oculus, but this has made me not want to make large purchases with Best Buy!

Everything was fine until they announced you have to merge with a Facebook account. Note for future buyers: you will have to have a Facebook account. If that’s okay with you go ahead and buy. But it wasn’t okay with 90% of the customers.

Best device ever, VR to the limit! Welcome to the meta verse, you're never going to want to leave... best social networking, avatars, I'm a newbie and too old to really enjoy it like I would years ago. Highly recommend newer, more lightweight and glasses, goggles feel... Either way, an amazing web based most realistic VR social networking platform.

Doesn’t want to work. I point at the screen to set the room and can’t even get it too accept it. If I could return it I would. I got the geek squad coverage but they closed the closes store down that was an hour drive .
