TOTALLY UNTETHERED IS HERE and it is...
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TOTALLY A MAY ZING! I am a tech enthusiast, who has owned and played with the Samsung Galaxy phone based Gear VR since its launch a few years ago. It was "okay", but limited in quality and performance. Earlier phones would often get overheated, with the audio and video cutting out of stuttering. Playing within VR on a phone was occasionally interrupted by email notifications and calls, it only supported a single controller, and the battery would run down quickly. It tied up my phone when others wanted to play ...it just wasn't an optimal experience. I considered upgrading to a standalone Oculus Go, but it still only supported a single controller, which really limited game options such as Beat Saber, etc. Then came Oculus Quest, I bought one for the family, and ...WOW! I can barely contain my enthusiasm! First, let's address the elephant in the room. It's not cheap. Cheap will get you a cardboard box, or the slightly better plastic phone-based VR headset (the best of these is Gear VR). This is immersive with six degrees of motion. The included (dual) touch controllers provide ample options to navigate the virtual environments and manipulate objects. The sound is projected near your ears, and sounds will move as you move, providing the user turn an ever more increased encompassing experience. ...there are standard 3.5mm headphone jacks on either side of the HMD for those who seek auditory privacy over realism. I like that you can set up a virtual boundary in your VR space, so as to not damage your surroundings or injury yourself. You set up a perimeter, and it warns you with a virtual wall/grid when you touch upon the limit of your safe area. I was originally considering the purchase of a floor-standing heavy-bag, to workout and fight off anxiety, but the up buying the 128GB Oculus Quest in the hope that it would serve as a tool, to help envelope and engage the senses of family members suffering from high bouts of anxiety, as well as seasonal depression. I am pleased to state that once the Oculus Quest is donned, and the virtual world is entered, runaway thoughts from the outside are pushed away for awhile. Games which engage, sight, sound and moment help to redirect anxious thoughts, forcing them to focus on the experience. Yes it is expensive, but it is SO worth it. It is far more versatile than a simple floor-standing heavy-bag (yes there are boxing games, and so much more), it also takes up far less space and is far more portable than a heavy bag. ;-) I highly recommend that those interested, seek out a location with a demo unit and experience it for yourself.

reluctant wife plays more than I, lol
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife was going to purchase the OQ for my birthday early July but decided against it with the cost and travel plans. Well after some research and a few nights of pillow talk she came home with it last night! Holy crap this system is so much fun. We completely ruined our weekend plans at the beach and have spent hours playing, lol A few tips, learn how to side load apps, it will help you get started without spending a great deal on games upfront. Eventually you’ll want the better paid games though. We purchased Beat $aber and side loaded a ton of extra songs, my wife and daughter love that game, I love the immersive features like YouTube VR. If you’re on the fence, I’d say go for it. So far it’s a hit at the house and I look forward to having friends and family try it out. *note regarding the photo’s. I tie strapped a battery pack to the back strap. Not only does it keep the battery charged while playing it also helps balance out the weight.

Wow! So excited to have the Oculus Quest headset!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After reading and watching many many reviews on the best VR headset, Oculus Quest came out on top. I couldn't agree with them more! I am a teacher who loves to learn and experience cutting edge technology and the Oculus Quest is just that, consumer state-of-the-art technology! And, of course I'm enjoying puzzle games like Red Matter and Moss, and sports like Scrambled Sports. I highly recommend this all-in-one VR headset.

Finally untethered VR!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Always wanted to build my own VR gaming pc but after doing the math for the VR pc and VR headset it was cost prohibited. Once oculus announced the Quest I decided ,let me try it and boom the quest is awesome no wires to get tangle. Immersion is pretty good and games look awesome. Specially beat saber on 360 and Super Hot once you try them wired headsets will feel antiquated.

Great introduction into the world of vr
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Amazing piece of electronics! Recommend to anyone who can't afford or don't have a good enough PC to run a rift. Only drawback is the library of titles is still weak. Also I added a battery pack to back strap to help counter balance the front weight of the quest.

Great VR for all Experience Levels
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I ordered the Oculus Quest 128 K. It arrived within the week. Easy to set up. All 4 of my grandkids are trilled with VR games. They like the multiplayers in Scramble Sports. Their favorite game is Beat Saber. The VR headset is comfortable and the controllers work perfectly. I recommend it to any gamer that wants to be inside the game experience.

Worth *every* penny!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love everything about the Quest. I did have to knock a few stars off though: -1 for not including a link cable. -1 for not having recharge battery packs for the controllers. -1 for not having the 64GB in stock (128 is fine, but overkill for my usage) -2 for comfort ... To keep it in place while in use, it needs to be pretty snug, and the padding just isn't thick enough to allow for that. Even with -5 stars from my total ... I still give it 5 stars out of 5. It really is worth the price. As I've told everyone that has asked, "Best $500 I *ever* spent on myself."

Q: QuestionHow do you buy games on the Oculus? If there is a store is there like prepaid cards you can buy??
Asked by Brucelane192.
- A:Answer You can purchase games via the Oculus app on your phone or directly in the Quest headset from the virtual store using your credit card.
Answered by Biker
Q: QuestionIs this completely cordless?
Asked by Pattyofwales.
- A:Answer Game play is completely cordless with the Quest. All of the hardware is built into the headset. No PC or cords as prior generations of VR. You can take it to a friend's house, the park, work, school, where ever you want! Obviously when you are charging the headset/controllers you will have cords to plug in - but the game play itself is completely cordless. Expect 2 to 2 1/2 hours of play on a charge with the Quest. There are also no additional sensors to set to mark your "play field". When you fire up the Quest, you will use the controller to define the "floor" around you and then draw the play field that you will be moving around within. If you get near the boundaries of the play field you will first get a red warning and then the game will pause and the cameras in the headset will show you where you are so that you accidentally don't punch your spouse or fall off a cliff, etc. But the cordless nature of the quest is indeed game-changing.

Q: QuestionI have the 64G Oculus Go. What would the Quest bring to me that I don't already have with that? I know there's two controllers vs one, but anything else? And will the games and sims that I've already purchased for the Go and my Samsung VR be usable?
Asked by PAPapa.
- A:Answer The main difference between the Oculus go and the Oculus Quest is the Oculus Quest is a 6 degrees of freedom system where as the Oculus go is 3 degrees of freedom. In short you can walk around and see your hands move about it all that type stuff on the quest whereas with the go you're stuck with just moving your head a bit and kind of sort of moving the controller. Unfortunately there is no Cross by between the Oculus Quest and the Oculus go. So any titles that you purchased for you go you will have to re-buy for the quest. It is a significant upgrade and well worth it

Q: QuestionCan you wear over eyeglasses?
Asked by Ronwell.
- A:Answer Yes, It comes with a glasses spacer as well.
Answered by Kevin
Q: QuestionDoes it need a phone or is there a little screen in there
Asked by Josh.
- A:Answer Phone is only needed for initial setup with the Oculus app. This is standalone VR, no phone or PC required to play the content. It's all self contained.

Q: QuestionIs there a SD/MicroSD card slot to expand the memory? What's the average file size for Quest games?
Asked by Jardex22.
- A:Answer No, which is pretty lame. That said, most of the games are around 1-2 GB in size, so even the 64 GB version should have enough space to store a good amount of games. If you watch a lot of saved movies, however, it can get alittle problematic.
Answered by Mungo
Q: QuestionSo it's $100 more to get the headset with 128 GB, but is their a way just to buy more storage or is it just you get what you get?
Asked by Logan.
- A:Answer Unfortunately there is no way to expand the storage after the purchase. It does not have any card slots, etc for storage expansion. Reasons you may want to purchase the larger storage: - If you want to side load movies or other content to have on the device while not connected the the network. - If you plan on downloading lots of games and don't want to remove and reload as you run out of space. (Most games run anywhere from 300K to 2GB per game. The really good high end games will be closer to 1-2 GB a piece. If you are someone who prefers to stream movies online rather than download, and you only play a limited number of games regularly and are willing to reload other games if needed, then the 64GB model will probably be fine.

Q: QuestionWill there be in-store demos so people can try before they buy? If so, when will they be available and will I be able to view them on live.oculusvr.com?
Asked by bubbles.
- A:Answer There should be in store demos. I did my demo yesterday, in-store, and purchased the device later on in the day. They should be available at all Best Buy stores right now. As for live.oculusvr.com, I don't know about that. You could check out loads of YouTube channels to see how Oculus Quest content looks.
