Game play is completely cordless with the Quest. All of the hardware is built into the headset. No PC or cords as prior generations of VR. You can take it to a friend's house, the park, work, school, where ever you want! Obviously when you are charging the headset/controllers you will have cords to plug in - but the game play itself is completely cordless. Expect 2 to 2 1/2 hours of play on a charge with the Quest. There are also no additional sensors to set to mark your "play field". When you fire up the Quest, you will use the controller to define the "floor" around you and then draw the play field that you will be moving around within. If you get near the boundaries of the play field you will first get a red warning and then the game will pause and the cameras in the headset will show you where you are so that you accidentally don't punch your spouse or fall off a cliff, etc. But the cordless nature of the quest is indeed game-changing.
