Uncomfortable and broke quickly
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This seems like a great idea until you use it. The thing is very itchy and uncomfortable. It moves easily and any slight movement makes everything go out of focus. The wrist straps are a joke and constantly slide down, making them useless. The guardian setup is annoying and needs a setting to not care about hands. But as of now, you have to either turn it off or see a wall every time your hands get near the boundary. It's so annoying I turned it off and never will turn it back on. Even my friends thought it was annoying and they wanted it turned off immediately. It liks to lag as well. Even when no other programs are running, cpu, ram, everything is working perfectly (low cpu usage, low ram usage, etc) , It lags and says you missed something. It also likes to lose track of the controllers now. At first, it tracked good but now it keeps making the controllers disappear and then come back. Or it doesn't recognize that the controller has moved. This also makes it miss things in the game. It doesn't do it constantly but it does it enough that it got old quickly. And after everything, in less than 1 month, it broke. There's now a big yellow spot in the left lens and it won't go away. Either the left lens broke or it got a bunch of dead pixels. Either way, it makes the headset unusable and now I have to go through support to see if they'll fix it.

Very simple and easy to set up and use!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For some reason I was expecting a lot more to be in the box and for this to be a lot more complicated to set up than it actually was. When you open up the box you see the headset and the 2 controllers and a small documentation package with batteries, and that's it! Setup of the unit on your computer is fairly simple. You download the Oculus software onto your PC and go through the setup instructions on the screen. Its a pretty large file, over 7GB, but if you have a fast connection you'll be up and running in no time! Then you plug in the cables, just a USB and display port cable. When I did it it went through a update process to update the firmware in the headset and controllers im assuming to the latest version. Then it did a few calibration tests. I found the headset to be quite comfortable and not too heavy. There is a dial on the back of the headset so you can literally dial in the best fit for you. There is also a velcro strap on the top as well as a depth calibration to move the eyepiece closer or further away from your eyes. After you get that adjusted, you are ready to go. It will have you do some more calibration like touching the floor and drawing a circle around the area you plan to use the device in to get it all set up. Once you are done with that you are ready to start playing some games! One of the first games I downloaded was Robo Recall. Its a first person shooter type game that really shows off what the Oculus can do. I found the graphics to look amazing, and the controllers in each hand were very responsive. Everywhere I looked, the camera angle quickly changed, and whenever I moved each of my hands it was seamless while watching through the screen. I have a fairly high end PC, so your results may vary depending on the setup you have. This is definitely an upgrade from the original Oculus. All of the sensors are contained within the headset so you don't have to fumble around with setting up external sensors. Just the 2 cables that go to your PC, and that's it! It makes it much more easy to play and even easy to take it with you over to a friends house or something, so portability is now an option with this headset. Overall, I would highly recommend this if you are a user of the old Oculus rift, or are looking to get into VR for the first time. Just make sure you have a powerful enough PC to run it and I guarantee you wont be disappointed!

Check your computer first
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Absolutely terrible. Most computers may not have the needed video card to support the system. Also the computer has to have a usb 3.0 slot. I don't know if it will actually work because I could not get it hooked up. A very disappointing Christmas gift. Make certain you check your computer to see if it has the needed specifications.

I never give a bad review, but....
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My son saved up his money for this system and we ordered it for him when it came in stock. He was so excited when it came. That didnt last long... Download and intsall oculus software and it says system ok. Then when plug in headset it says cannot detect the sensors, aka the cameras on the headset. Check all the settings, cables, etc. Nothing. Cant call oculus, have to email them. Then in couple days you get a response with try all the things you did already.... reply back. Wait again, rinse and repeat. Bestbuy has a 15 day return policy... missed that date and had to take store credit, which i appreciate over keeping a system that does not work. My sins machine is a mid level gaming system with more than enough power to run this. Checking online, it seems that maaaaannnnny people are complaining about compatibility since they updated their software before Christmas. Systems that did work dont now. Says can be used with windows 7, but that is also no longer true. You would think that rolling back software would be an option for this until they get it together? No, its not. I guess they expect you to keep the headset for nostalgia and bragging rights, but dont ask for it to function. Thats too much to ask.

Skip this, look at the quest.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not compatible with many USB-C laptops, hard to check what works or not. Setup is annoying and requires a Facebook account.

Didn't work!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We purchased this for my son to use on his PC. The sensor didn't work. We contacted support through the company and spent many hours back and forth trying different things. We then returned it to the store for a replacement. THAT one did not work either. I have read the model seems to be having many issues with the sensors. We eventually returned it for a refund. Not worth the time or money spent.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don’t buy horrible experience with this device and getting it to work spent a whole day and just kept getting sensor problems and my pc not connecting to the rift s. The software for the pc is just as bad. I thought I just got a bad unit but had the same problem with the second one. On the way to return now!!!!

Occulus review for flight simulators
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.(1)Still not that suitable for flight simulations, the resolution is not good enough to read the "six pack" gauges and too tiring to use. I was hoping to use this for flight training and to familiarise with the surrounding terrain (2)Steup is not really plug and play. Still needs special software installation Returned the product after using once or twice

Worthy Upgrade or new Headset
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an upgrade IMO. #1) The sensors on the original and the setup can be a NIGHTMARE. This setup was a BREEZE! #2) Comfort, especially for glasses wearers is much improved. On the old rift I couldn't stand to play more then 1 hour because I pref to wear glasses. #3) The visuals are much better and much more clear. Text is far easier to read. WAY less screen door effect. People say "save your $400. Well, here is the things, sell your old Rift that people want for $300 and pay $100 to upgrade. Simple! The ease of setup, comfort, inside out tracking and visuals ARE worth it IMO. I would recommend a RTX2070 or GTX 1080.
