Immerse yourself in the world of VR
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Step into unique world of virtual reality with the Oculus Rift S PC-powered headset. Simply plug-in your Oculus Rift S into your PC, connect your favorite set of ear / headphones or use the integrated audio from the VR headset, strap on the Oculus Touch controllers and you’re good to go. Unlike many of the traditional VR headsets out on the market, which requires the use of external sensors for tracking movement, the built-in Oculus Insight tracking removes the need for external sensors to convert your movements into virtual reality. Instead of using those external sensors to create your play boundary, the Oculus Rift S PC-powered headset uses software to create your play area. During initial setup (and this can be changed at a later time if necessary) you can create your play area with the Oculus Guardian System to draw out your play area. The minimum required space to play a VR game is 3 feet by 3 feet (1 meter by 1 meter) with the recommended play area being 6.5 feet+ by 6.5 feet+ (2 meters+ by 2 meters+). Keep in mind that any play area that is less than the minimum space requirement will not be able to use the Oculus Guardian System. In order for the Oculus Rift S can work, it must be connected by a cable (the included USB 3.0 and DisplayPort) to a PC running Microsoft Windows 10. The recommended PC specifications in order to use the Oculus Rift S with your PC are as follows: NVIDIA GTX 1050Ti / AMD Radeon RX 470 or greater video card; Intel i3-6100 / AMD Ryzen 3 1200, FX4350 or greater CPU; 8GB+ RAM memory. If you are interested in buying the Oculus Rift S, make sure to spend that extra bit of money for higher tier parts. In the end it will make a huge difference in performance and the quality VR environment your PC can create and display on the Oculus Rift S. Enough about the technical specs and let’s jump into actual game play. The Oculus app provide a rather large library of games and various other apps (the Oculus can be used for more than just playing games) to use in conjunction with the Oculus Rift S. You can also connect leverage your Steam account and play any VR games in your collection (after installing the SteamVR extension to Steam). One of the games that I played the most in VR was Vacation Simulator. After installing the game, I had a few technical glitches that prevented me from jumping straight into the game. One I was having trouble with the visual, but I could hear all the audio just fine. After a bit of adjustment, I ended up having the problem swap from visual to audio where I could see what I was doing, but not hear what was going on. Once I was able to get past the technical hurdles and get into the game, it was smooth sailing from there. Everything worked so well that it made it easy to get lost in the game for many hours on end. I had a really hard time reminding myself that I cannot lean against a table or what looked like a sturdy object in game, as the object was not in front of me in person. Interacting with objects was very easy and it took no time at all to get use to the controls. This has been one of those amazing products that I have had the opportunity to test and review. I know that I will be using this Oculus Rift S PC-powered headset for long time. If you have the opportunity to try VR for yourself, don’t hesitate and go for it!

Stoped working after firmware update.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was happy to try the Oculus S after owning the Rift Cv1. My computer is a i7-3770 cpu with a GeForce 1070ti graphics card. When I plugged in the Rift I got a green light for usb 3.0 and the display port. Setup the calibration and it was working. Then it notified me of a firmware update. It updated the optics and two hand controllers. After that it would not recognize the headset at all. Just hung on the plugin installation part. wouldn't recognize the USB or display port any more. After 2 hours of trying to get it working i gave up and took it back to Best Buy for a refund. Also the holo band if more suited if you have a round pumpkin head. I have a more oval and it was very uncomfortable. BTW most motorcycle helmets are round oval. I’m glad I still own the original Rift Cv1.

Cool for a minute but hardware and software issues
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Too many issues with the hardware and software. When it wants to work it really works, otherwise you're kinda out of luck. This quickly became a self toy and the quest 2 gets so much more use.

Display port a downer
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Be sure you have a computer ready for this item. The display port is a square HDMI with the 1 corner slash or the Thunderbolt port for the attachment piece. I didn't have either and returned product.

Great unless you play shooting games.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. All's well and good till you play a game that involves pistols or any manual reloading. The ring around the top of the controls make it impossible to grab any part of the top of the weapons. Thus.. no way to finish the reloading process. Don't waste your time.

Needs specific graphics card
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Could never use it. I had a great computer with separate graphics card. But found that it requires specific graphics cards. I tried 3 different cards, none worked. The list of graphic cards is very short and expensive.

Controllers broke after two months
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Controllers broke after two months and the company is giving us the runaround. I bought three of these systems you would think replacing controllers would be a simple fix to keep in good standings with potential future purchasing

Best Buy Customer Service is the worst.
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been a Best Buy customer for over 25 and an elite plus member. Today I’m cancelling my citi credit card and will no longer shop at this chain. My family got Covid over New Years and were unable to return this product that made my son I’ll by playing it. I finally felt well enough to return this product to get store. I was 1 DAY past the return deadline and the manager (Dave) refused to help me. Store policy is all he quoted. I called corporate for support and the “elite plus” agent was just as useless. Good by Best Buy. You suck. Hopefully your product finally dies. Hello Amazon
