Amazing VR
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great VR for the price. The tracking is way better than expected and screen is very clear. Built in speakers are great and has a very submersible feel while playing. Also is incredibly easy to set up.

Oculus Rift 2.0
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best thing of this device is that you dont need the tower cameras anymore. Now everything is included and easier than ever. It also has a slighthy better resolution. You can easily play steam and oculus vr games. The only con that I have found is that they took away the great headphones that the previous rift had, but you can add your own by using a 3.5 mm connector. Overall it is a better experience than its predecessor and it is a better value than other vr head sets in the market.

Oculus Rift-S is one of my best purchases!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second Rift. Originally, I had the original rift and when I purchased a gaming computer, it did not have all of the required USB 3 ports that I needed for the Rift, 2 sensors, my wheel and pedals (iRacing) and the other gear that I wanted to hook up. So, when the Rift-s became available - I jumped on it. It works as advertised and the setup is much easier. No real setup time is required after the initial setup. My CV1 required tweaking every time I used it after moving a sensor (dusting, etc.). Bottom line, the Oculus Rift-S is worth the money and you will not be sorry.

so much fun!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.the good: immersion, immersion, immersion - Wow! Put the headset on and you really feel like you’re in another world. Traditional gameplay on a “normal” display feels like you’re watching the action, even as you control a portion of it. VR feels like you’re *in* the action. I really felt the effects of riding a roller coaster, or trying to get a hand-hold on the cliff I was climbing, or that I really had to dodge the bad guy shooting at me! comfortable - I had no discomfort after several hours of gameplay. That being said, the headset is a bit front heavy, so you may feel the muscles in the back of your neck working a bit more than usual. motion controllers intuitive and track quite well - Easy enough that my 6 year old daughter picked them up and started using them right away. The tracking on the new headset trackers (replacing the old room sensors) is outstanding. view of in-game activity on screen for others to see - While the headset is of course a single player experience, they’ve still made it accessible to use with friends. This still needs a bit of work, but essentially whatever the player sees in-game is displayed on your monitor in a normal perspective. Pretty cool way for everyone else to see why you’re stumbling around, laughing, or at times giving a bit of a scream :-) minimized screen door effect - If you look closely you can see pixels, but the immersive quality of the experience really overpowers that pretty quickly. educational as well as entertainment - In my relatively short time with the Oculus, I found that there is some educational content out there as well as of course the games. Something as seemingly mundane as Google Maps, experienced in VR now becomes a way to virtually travel to any worldly destination. Street view literally puts you on the street, from staring at my own driveway to moments later looking up at the Eiffel Tower or ancient artifacts in Rome. the bad: content limitations - For me personally, I feel like the technology is still so new that there’s not a ton of quality content out yet. That’s not to say that there isn’t any at all, but once you spend some time in the store you’ll quickly start researching “what’s next” on the horizon. not “quite done cooking” yet - Again, because this technology is still in its infancy, I couldn’t help feeling like it needs more time to feel fully fleshed out and polished. One of the issues, if you can really call it that, is that any little momentary glitch takes you out of the immersion, which breaks the experience. Internal menus, moving from game to game…these things need some maturity before you will see a fully immersive experience from start to finish. Oculus software can be a bit unstable - At times I did have issues with the Oculus software, but a quick close and re-open, or at worst a system restart fixed the issue. audio issues when using AVR - I also experienced a buzz coming from my speakers when I tried to use the Oculus with my home theater speakers. I’m not sure if this is a limitation of the Oculus itself, or if something else was going on, but if you’ve got friends you’re trying to experience the Rift with, it can be a bit frustrating. miscellaneous: cable tether - Some people will hate this, and some won’t mind at all. on board speakers - The speakers on the headset itself aren’t exactly stellar, but they do a good job for what they are. Most people will probably use external headphones and won’t care too much. somewhat plain design - Basically a big black box over your eyes. I don’t personally care too much what the outside looks like while I’m immersed in what’s happening on the inside. current Rift owners may not find a large enough difference to upgrade - As other reviews have noted, the Rift S may not be enough for some current Rift owners to upgrade. overall: Overall, while this little piece of hardware has some really amazing features, it’s not without its flaws. Since this is my first experience with VR, I may be a bit more impressionable than some other reviewers, but the immersion (even with older games that are obviously lower quality) is simply amazing. You really have to experience it to understand. The Rift S is not without its issues, but that said, I still highly recommend it. If you’ve seen the movie Ready Player One, you’ll understand exactly what I mean. My young daughter calls this headset the “Oasis”, and it certainly feels like the beginnings of it. Your mind will feel like this is real - roller coasters will throw you off balance, floating through the International Space Station will make you feel weightless, and battling bad guys in a shooter will make you feel like you physically need to take cover. Highly recommended, but removing one star for some smaller issues that still need to be worked out.

Great Headset, mediocre display
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this headset a couple of days ago and it is great comparing the price to other VR headsets. Overall, the main drawback for me is the screen. Its viewable, decently clear, and doesn't get me motion sick, but my screen is blurry at some points. I don't know if mine is supposed to look like this and I'll continue to learn more about how to improve this headset. If you are a VR newcomer and you have a powerful enough PC, I 100% recommend the Rift S.

1st VR Headset and I love it!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Originally ordered this straight from Oculus right after Christmas and it took them 3 weeks to send it to me (even though, by then, Best Buy had them back in stock). When I got the set I did everything to get it set up (including trying to set it up on a new and decent gaming computer) and...nothing. So, I went to dependable Best Buy and got another set, brought it home, and EASILY set it up. I don't have a lot of games yet but it is a lot of fun. Thanks Best Buy!

Great Entry VR Headset
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to setup, works great, and has a reasonable price that helped me get into VR gaming! These do require a PC that you have to buy separately unlike the Oculus Rift S.

Great way to get into VR
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Oculus Rift S is a fantastic option for people who want to get into VR but don't want to spend $1,000-$1,500 to do it. The Rift S has a decent selection of games available now and is over all a great experience (ease of use, quality, coolness, etc). Having said all that, with the recent announcements of Oculus Quest adding an optional PC connection cable (Oculus Link) and hand tracking, I would recommend just getting the Oculus Quest instead (which is literally the same price, similar specs and does not require any PC). Note: If you do want to get the Rift S, make sure that you have a decent PC to run it. You can go to the Oculus website to see if your PC is Rift S ready or not.

Just an awesome gift to yourself or for others!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It has more accurate motion tracking than the original Oculus Rift. It's easy to set up with just two cords to connect to your gaming computer, unlike the first Oculus Rift, when you have to connect 4 or more cords just to get set up. Having the camera on the headset is much better than having sensors because the headset has the ability to turn your vision to see the real world from the virtual reality (or inside game). This avoids accidentally hitting someone passing by or bumping into something/someone if you happened to be moving from your original position. Aside from that, the headset gives you a nice controlled volume when playing games. Comfortable to wear as well!

Wow! A great step up from the original
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the Rift S as an upgrade to my current Rift. Most online reviews stated that if you owned the original Rift that you shouldn't upgrade to this one. I have to completely disagree with this statement! The inside out tracking is fantastic and is worth the price of admission alone... it does a fantastic job of room scale VR and allows a great experience without having to run usb cables and sensors everywhere (let's face it - those sensors can ruin the clean look of a room). The picture looks so much better as well. I was initially concerned with the refresh rate but can honestly say that I have yet to notice that it is less than 90. I have this parked with an RTX 2080 and it is amazing!

Amazing Experience, Still Buggy due to PC
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A few years ago, I tried the Oculus, and I thought that the experience had the potential to be phenomenal. But back then, my PC could barely keep up. I returned it because there was just no way I could support it. Fast forward to today. I have a very high-grade gaming PC. It's not the best you can get, but it's less than a year old and it cost several thousand new. Once again, upon first plug in, this experience showed the potential to be phenomenal. Before the evening was over, the bugs started popping up. Bugs that are hard to troubleshoot whether it's the fault of the PC or the fault of the unit. Unlike 2 years ago, I am keeping this headset with the assumption that I can work through them, but just be aware of what you're getting into. Even with a VERY good PC, the amount of power this requires, the current notorious issues with Windows 10 updates and driver settings (this is being written Summer/Fall 2019), and other compatibility issues make this a very difficult product to enjoy. It's not fair to compare the complications with this to the sheer ease of using a phone-based VR headset, because those experiences are garbage by comparison. But as of Summer/Fall 2019, this is not the plug and play experience for your average consumer. More likely than not, you're going to have an uphill battle to make it work well.

Great vr system
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this with a new gsync monitor. This thing is absolutely amazing. While the stock speakers aren’t great we use a different pair of headphones over the headset. The controls and movements are so silky smooth it’s unbelievable. While wearing the headset with a good pair of headphones you are literally transported to another world. You actually forget that your in your room playing a game. It’s so immersive that you actually are living in a dream. Specs on the rig I’m using. I7 9700k 3.6 ghz 8 core with liquid cooling 16GB 2933MHz DDR 4 1TB ssd Nvidia rtx 2080 8GB GDDR6 OC ready Not sure how this would run with a rig that’s has lower end parts but with the gear I have it is craaaaaazy

Great VR Headset but Oculus Website is Very Buggy
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This VR is great but not worth 5 stars. If you don't a VR and want one badly, buy this one if you have a decent enough PC to handle the games. Sometimes the Oculus software is very buggy and will even brick the VR until they release updates that fix it. The Oculus software is made by the Oculus website and is mandatory to use this VR. So I had to wait 3 weeks to play my VR again because it took them that long to fix the bug.

Great value
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pretty decent considering the price. VR is inevitably going to get much better, so sticking with this $350 headset until something truly amazing comes out is a solid move.

Great headset for PCVR
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having had the first iteration of the oculus rift already, I knew how great virtual reality is. Now I upgraded to the S and wow, I’m so glad I decided to put the money into it. Being able to take out the tangle of USB sensors from the equation was liberating, but I can’t emphasize enough the leap in clarity this headset has over the old model. Small text that used to require some guesswork is now crisp enough to read easily. Some complain about how audio is handled via speakers built inside the headband instead of over-ear headphones but I think the complaints are exaggerated. The audio solution definitely isn’t the best way to experience atmospheric games, but it does a surprisingly decent job with directional sounds. If your playspace will be loud or you want the most immersive experience you’ll want some headphones or high quality ear buds. If using a headset over this rift keep in mind the headstrap is fairly bulky hard plastic and your earphones will need to stretch pretty wide to get around it.

Great VR with a strong PC
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Rift S has a few improvements over the Rift some are minor others huge. The Rift S has built in cameras allowing 6 degrees of freedom without external sensors this alone sold me on the newer Rift S. Another thing is the improved audio over the original Rift. The controllers are slightly different and the image quality is improved but not by a huge amount. Regardless the Rift S requires a pretty well set up computer to get the most out of the VR experience. At the listed price $400 as of mid September 2020 you really cant go wrong if you are looking for a fully immersive entry into the VR world.
