    Amazing PC Quality VR

If you're looking to play the best of the best in terms of AAA VR titles without having to deal with sensors, calibration, and want the most comfortable VR headset on PC, the Rift S is what you want. I've owned Oculus Rift and also a Quest, and this device is much more comfortable and easy to set up than previous models. I will say the audio solutions need some work - maybe an official Oculus headphone adaptor, but otherwise the clarity and comfort is 2nd to none. I highly recommend the Oculus Rift S as the best VR headset for PC.

No complaint thus far. was torn on the quest or the rift s but the graphics and processing power are not even comparable. if you have a nice gaming PC then you want the rift s hands down!

    Stick with the Quest

The cable on this is beyond irritating!! You can not have any fun in anything that you use room scale with, you are constantly getting tangled in the cord, most annoying thing in the world and destroys the fun completely. At least with the Quest you have a chose of games to be cordless with, and then you can chose to attach a cord and play other games. The Rift S is not worth the time and money, horrid set up. You are also always fighting with blurry vision, like the lens are fogging up, but its the resolution on them that's the issue. The Quest also seems to have ongoing development on it, where as the Rift S is just what it is. This is just a poor attempt to improve the Oculus VR line, and instead of being the model AFTER the Quest, this seems like the model BEFORE the Quest. Horrid. Again, stick with the Quest. Get the one with higher memory, grab the cable so you have the option to hook up for higher end gaming, and you will save a lot of stress with the horrid clunky cable on the Rift S.

I bought this for VR racing. If you have a decent computer this is a wonderful device. DO NOT WEAR GLASSES WHILE USING! My lens were scratch pretty badly by just rubbing my glasses while in use and the spot is right on my line of sight. The lens are not interchangeable which is a bummer because I maybe got an hour of use out of my headset before I messed it up.

Oculus as a company needs work! IT'S A NIGHTMARE!

*BUYER BEWARE* I had bought the rift s yesterday and after reading some reviews I was so excited for it! I opened it up and it looked fantastic, everything made from very nice materials and packaged very professionally! The headset is extremely comfortable and the controlers feel very nice in the hand. Plugging everything in and getting it all set up was easy. One thing that was not mentioned in any other reviews and not stressed on was the Oculus Setup app. This needs to be downloaded from Oculus' website. It requires 21.6Gb of space on your C drive. You are NOT able to choose what drive you want to download it on. I said to myself, "oh well I guess I just have to clear up some space and everything will be great". I was so so wrong. After clearing up a bunch of room on the C Drive I was finally able to download. The download size now was about 13Gb. After that had finished and all that was left was the app installing itself. I was then greeted with an error message. It advised me to please restart the computer. I did this and now I had to start all over again, the only problem was it needed another 21.6 Gb!!! I tried to contact Oculus support multiple times and have gotten nothing so far. This has been happening to many people and no help has been given. I even saw that Oculus support told one customer to just wait a few days and try again. That's not a good solution. I am going to return the product soon if this does not work one of these times. Oculus' website needs work, its setup and app needs a ton of work, and its support team needs work. I am currently stuck with a $400 blindfold and dont want anyone else to be stuck too.

    Good starter VR

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

For what it was worth during it's time of being an actual product, it was a really great starter vr headset. Relatively cheap and pretty decent quality. I used it nearly every day for a couple of years before selling it off to pay for an Index. It's a shame that it's no longer being sold, as it's considerably better than the Quest.

I've had my Rift S for about a month, and in late July it had problems with the sensors. Long story short I spent days trying to fix it, I got no where and got really frustrated. However, when I contacted customer support, they were open. They were friendly. They really care about their customers being satisfied with their products. Oculus Support has honestly, the best customer service I've ever seen.

Great HMD for a first time buyer

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is my first HMD. Best $400 spent. Ease of set up. This device is power hungry. So depending on your motherboard your usb3 may not power it enough. I had to buy a USB 3.0 pci-e card with 4pin or sata to power this HMD got a $20 one. That also is to say make sure your power supply is enough for everything on your cpu.

    Frustrating experience

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I purchased this 3 weeks ago and have had no problems with the device itself. While somewhat cheap compared to other headsets it works and performs as expected while using Steam VR. The problem is the Oculus software. It is poorly designed and does not work. Three weeks of back and forth with tech support, and I still cannot successfully download a game. But it did max my internet data for the month trying.

    the right choice

I was in doubt between Quest and Rift S. Tested Quest elsewhere. Do not regret choosing Rift S. It's a whole lotta life as compared to the old Rift (CVX). The box was a little beaten up and had to inspect the product to see if it wasn't an open box. All good.

Resolution is nice but overall, headset is awful.

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Don't buy this headset if you're looking for a high quality VR experience. The Rift S has worse build quality than the original Oculus Rift. The headset is composed almost entirely of very thin, fragile plastic that is bound to break after a few months of use. The built in speakers are weak sounding even at max volume. Tracking of the controllers works well if your hands are always in front of your chest or face. If you put your hands at your side even for a second, your virtual hand will fly off into the distance. That said, the resolution bump over the previous generation is nice. Though, that doesn't make up for the steps backwards in nearly every other aspect of the headset from the original Oculus Rift. I would highly advise against purchasing this headset.

Purchased this for my son. Had issues with usb connections and video detection...then issues with discovering headset, then issues with updating drivers for graphics card, then issues with drivers for oculus......etc. etc....etc...after 3 hours of rebooting and reinstalling and unplugging blah blah blah, I tried another computer. On the new computer I had to deal with a new issue, 3 flashing dots inside headset, then a black screen, and then computer crashed..both computers easily passed minimum requirements set by oculus...one computer is brand new (less than 1 week old), and the other is 6 month old gaming computer........no more oculus for me...this thing is garbage.

    Not Worth Your Time

Way too many issues. This tech was probably on-track to become something great until FB bought it... i7, 16gb ram, RX 580, -- consistent and constant issues with software. Oculus VR Software is probably the laziest attempt at a platform I've ever seen. When it does work - it works 'OK'. Steam VR isn't much better. The fact that the two don't work well with one another makes this device a colossal waste of money. After a week of trials, tribulations, and frustrations - I've decided to return the Oculus Rift S and try the Valve Index. Maybe it will be better suited for gaming.

Piece of junk, don't buy it.

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

First of all, My girlfriend purchased this for me for my birthday and I was very excited, to say the least. We already don't have all the money in the world and I'm glad she made the effort to purchase this for me. Unfortunately, I was already skeptical to purchase this simply because it's made by Facebook and since the day I received it (not to mention it arrived late) it's given me nothing but problems. While the picture looks great, the headset is comfortable enough to play for hours on end, and the controls feel really natural, there's just one, tiny but big problem with this headset. It keeps saying that the USB connection doesn't work. Okay, unplug that and plug it back in, Oh, now the DisplayPort doesn't work. Unplug that and plug it back in. Oh, now it's connected and active according to the Oculus app? But all you'll get upon putting the headset on are three loading dots and nothing else. Doesn't matter if you reset it, the software and the headset itself, even your computer! It won't work. After hours and hours of googling and troubleshooting the problem can't be solved. But what did you do wrong? You were just playing it two minutes ago? You have just finished a three hour gaming session and everything was fine? Who knows. This piece of junk decides to quit working at any time, regardless of what was done. This has been happening since it's been taken out of the box. Oculus support is useless, just like their products! After hours and hours of trying to fix it, to no avail, it might work. It'll work for a few hours, maybe a day. Then when you wake up on a Saturday morning, ready to play some awesome VR games, that's when it'll do the same thing. This, combined with the amount of money I spent on a gaming computer that is supposed to run this kind of stuff, this is not exactly what I had in mind. 1,300 dollars of products shouldn't turn into an everyday 6 hour troubleshooting session. So, as of writing this review, I've had this product for about a week. Everyday I've had to "fix" it at least once. I still have no idea how it gets "fixed" because it decides to work and not work whenever it wants! So much so that it pained me to have to make that final decision to finally return this machine. For the price, you get what you pay for.

This thing is trash LOL. Pay $300 for a device that will ONLY connect by Display port or Mini Displayport. Do not try adapters. I went through 2 because I only have a USB-C on my Razer. I am finding the hardware outdated. For this much money you should be able to connect to a PC using different ports. USB-C??? I am finding USB-C has more lanes of info then Displayport anyway. TRASH.
