    Solid upgrade from CV1

Upgraded from a Rift CV1 -- the rift S has noticably better graphics, and I love not having to plug in external sensors. Tracking works great. It's a bit less comfortable then the CV1 and a bit more finicky -- sometimes it quits when I take it off for more than 10 seconds and I have to unplug and plug back in.

Very easy set up and use. Does NOT require high end PC, but you would benefit more from having one. The headset is comfortable enough with better weight distribution. But I don't feel like I can secure it where I want as well as the first Rift. The headphones, or whatever they are, are garbage. Way too quiet and sound distant since they're not actually against your ear like traditional headphones. Higher resolution display (barely) does offer a more crisp viewing experience, but it's disappointing if you're coming from the first Rift. Tracking seems to work well, unless you get the controllers too close to the headset. The Rift S is good if you're new to VR and/or your expectations aren't that high.

Some improvements over the Oculus Rift, some not.

The Rift S has noticeably better visual effects over the original Rift, but the built in speakers that are positioned inside the headband are not as good at delivering audio quality as the over ear headphones of the Rift. This is somewhat fixed by the fact that the Rift S has a built in audio jack so you can use your own earbuds or headphones, but on its own it is not as good as its previous version when it comes to audio, which can be a big deal in certain games and may throw you out of your immersion due to the sounds of the outside. Overall it feels like I’ve traded some of my audio quality for better visual quality. It’s also worth stating that the Rift S is a noticeable bit heavier than the Rift. It’s not Deal-breakingly heavy, but you will notice it’s weight when you have it on. One of the major improvements that was made is how you lock the Rift S down on your person. The Velcro straps on either side of the face have been replaced by a knob on the back end of the device that you can tighten down to your liking. The top head Velcro strap however is still a part of this version.

This headset is solid. Not the highest quality, but hood for the price. I hate that there's no over the ears headphones. The display is just decent. The tracking is really good. Highly recommend if you prefer tracking over resolution/display and don't mind having to use external headphones

Picture is much better than the original, not needing light houses or sensors plugged in is extremely nice. They are almost there with the technology. One or two more years of work and I’m sure they will have all the glitchyness worked out. I returned mine. When I got it the built in left speaker did not work at all and during a 4 hour gaming session I probably had to close and reopen the game I was playing as well as restart the computer to get the game to stop being locked up. I was playing oculus games on their own oculus app/store. I also tried games in steam and got the same locking up from time to time. The sensors just seemed to completely bug out IE the cameras. But they are close to cracking the VR code. When it worked I had fun, just had to use the port on the headset and some ear buds, my steelseries Arc headset did not fit over the VR, kind of a bummer.

I had originally purchased the Samsung Odyssey+ but it did not fit my big head. The Rift S does. Also, I was not sure about the speaker setup for the Rift S, but it actually works just fine. My only issue is that I wish the replaceable battery life for the controllers (a single AA batt for each) was longer.

This is a great VR headset for anyone wanting to get into VR gaming. Doesn’t require light houses and is very responsive. Super easy to connect and set up to the Oculus software. Surprisingly has great resolution for the price compared to the VIVE and other similar models that are more expensive. Also, it works with both Oculus store and Steam VR!! All around great product for price. Wish it came with or could buy a storage solution for headset when not playing with it.

    Disappointed....

Pre-ordered the rift s and quest. Had such high expectations for the rift s. Had low expectations for the Quest. When I finally got them on the 21st it was the complete opposite. I was blown away by the quest and severely underwhelmed by the rift s. The rift s just felt cheaply made, the audio was terrible and I kept getting this black screen after about 15 min of gameplay. I opened tickets with Oculus and they provided bs troubleshooting steps that I have already done multiple times. Visually the graphics were def an upgrade and the tracking was fine. Everything else was a downgrade. If I buy it again I'll wait for them to fix all the bugs and to go on sale. This headset is not worth $400 imo.

I enjoy the Oculus Rift S with clear video and easy to use and understand. The only issue I have with this device is (1) I cannot watch any YouTube VR videos as it does not support the YouTube VR app. (2) I cannot find a good browser to view VR content when surfing the web.

Got this on sale, definitely worth it. Works great with my laptop (and I use an adapter for the display port plug). Literally no screen door effect from my use and the 80hz refresh rate isn't noticeable at all. Really great product as long as you get it on sale.

I upgraded from the Oculus Rift and I agree that there is a noticeable performance increase. One feature that is awesome is the ability to switch in between your VR game and using the cameras”sensors” to keep an area on your play area. For example, making sure your kids are doing their homework. LOL

This is my first vr setup and it's been a great experience I've had no issues with the setup. I made sure to do my research to make sure my system was compatible i e the display port not hdmi. Tracking has been right on and I've not experienced any input lag or controller drops. I've worn it for well over an hour and it was still comfortable only issue I have is the cable is on the left side but I've fixed that issue. I would highly recommend this headset.

The Rift-S is a great VR headset! My first VR headset was the PSVR and I had a lot of fun with it but there wasn’t many games available. I went and bought the Rift-S and was immediately blown away by its performance. The screen is sharper than that of the PSVR which made for better gameplay. Oculus also has many selection of games and you can also get even more games from Steam. The Rift-S is totally worth it

After owning the vive vr and loving it, I decided to upgrade to the oculus when the rift s came out. The rift s just made my vr experience alot more exciting. I no longer have to worry about setting up tracking blocks up on my walls and try to get them set right. With all the tracking on the headset it is so much easier. Very high quality lenses. Had a little trouble connecting it with steam vr, but after some youtube help i figured it out pretty quick.
