Fun But Consider Carefully Before Purchasing
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the Oculus - Rift S primarily to play Half-Life: Alyx and it was my first introduction to VR and VR gaming. It has provided some fun and interesting experiences but also some headaches with setup and technical issues. And then weeks after purchasing the news came out that the Rift S would be discontinued.

Get a Quest 2 instead
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best budget pc vr headset. But if your reading this right now I suggest getting the quest 2 instead because it's essentially the samething but cheaper and better!

Great when it works
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.VR is truly amazing, so much you can do / see with it. Beat Saber is by far my favorite game and with the mods for it the songs are endless. My only issue is the tracking keeps getting lost for the controllers. I've tried just about everything to fix it but it still happens. If it wasn't for that I would give it a 5 star but since i can't play it all the time i dropped to a 4. I would go lower but when it works it's so good.

Tracking is good but not as good as Rift
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Screen clarity over the Rift was the first thing I noticed. Blown away by how clear it all is. The setup process is worlds easier as well and make it great for taking to friends house: Just set your floor, set your guardian perimeter and you're good to go. The tracking can be off sometimes with the sensors and the controls but overall impressed.

Mind blown
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I want from the PSVR to this. The difference is night and day, the clarity of the headset, the ease of use, and the ability to walk around while using it has been an amazing experience.

Could not get it to work with my PC
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Even though my PC exceeds the recommended specs, I could not get it to work with my PC. The older Oculus Rift works fine on the same PC. I spent a long time researching the problem online and this is a common problem with no certain answer. It would install, but it would not recognize the sensors. Oculus tech support was helpful, but they did not solve the problem. After spending about a weeks worth of nights trying every solution I could find online and from Oculus tech, I gave up and traded with my son - I used his older Oculus Rift on my PC and the new S model works on his PC. It seems the S model doesn't like my older motherboard. If I would have known this was an issue (several year old motherboard) I wouldn't have bought it.

Best gift ever!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this for my son for Christmas. Way better than the vr for the ps4. It's good to see him moving while playing vs sitting at the PC. Steam has a ton of games available.

Great VR, compatibility issues with older systems
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very good quaity graphics, rather portable since allyou need is one cable, NOT COMPATIBLE with most systems from about 9 months ago, if you dotn have a DP port or Mini DP port more than likely is not compatible. Often converters wont work or thunderbolt plug adapters. If your system says Rift compatible and Not RIFT S compatible, this wont work.

Relax and immerse yourself
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first "real" VR set. Overall it's a nice self-contained setup with only one wire having two connections. Setup is pretty easy. You need a USB 3.0 and Displayport 1.2 ports. The total download is about 7GB and 15GB once decompressed. Batteries are included for the controllers. D/L the software and plug in the headset. It does the usual upgrades for a new product and then you're ready to go. I used mine with a Nvidia 2080ti and had no problems. The main thing is to get the distance right from the eye pieces. To close and I saw the screen door effect from the LCD screen, too far and it looks more like viewing through a periscope. Between the headband and the goggle adjustments, take the time to get it right. It will really make the experience better. If you have glasses they will fit inside the headset. The headband is easily adjustable by a knob on the back, and the goggle depth by a button the right side. It was a comfortable fit, and didn’t feel heavy. The program starts with a guide that walks you setup, using the controllers, marking the playing area, and quick demo. When marking the play area the cameras show you the room so you can know exactly where you are marking. No other equipment is needed, the cameras track everything for position. The initial guide is a good demo of what’s possible with the set. The cameras do a great job tracking in all directions. I never had a problem with location using the set. Sound comes from two small speaker slits on the headband. It’s pretty good for an open-air design, but limited. The set does have 3.5mm jack if you want to plug in something else. The controls are good and nicely laid out. Each has a stick, 2 top buttons, a trigger, side button, and one button for home or menu depending on the side. Each only needs 1 AA battery (included). Overall the controls are intuitive and you’ll pick up how to use and interact with the system easily. There is a sensor inside the headset to determine if it’s being worn or not and shuts off the display accordingly. The graphic are great once the headset is positioned properly, and not hard to adjust for other players. Colors are clear and everything looks like you are there. If you start to exceed the play area boundaries you see a warning field on the display, it’s very accurate. It’s also fun for others to see what the wearing is doing on the monitor. The headset has a desktop interface so you don’t have to take it off to do quick things in windows. It comes with some demo games and there are some free games to start you out. I had a key for SuperHot from the regular version and the VR version is fantastic. Depth, physical dodging, grabbing items out of the air, the headset performed flawlessly and very accurately. Sound was decent too with the headset speakers. For a first foray into VR this has been a great experience. The cord is long 5m (just over 16ft) so plenty of cord to let you move away from the computer. Make sure you have plenty of space for moving. I experienced no graphical issues, items were sharp and depth was always correct. Having cameras and being a self-contained unit makes setup very easy. This is a great first step into VR.
