Finally, better than the CV1 - :)
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.so, i got this in january 2020. played it quite a lot, probably 200 hours on it. personally i loved this version over the first oculus rift. no base stations to deal with, on-par tracking. however, i eventually sold it as i did not use it enough. i got myself a Quest that can link with your PC for PC games as well. but if you aren't sure, the Rift S and Quest are both amazing VR headsets. so i would recommend.

Good
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Picture is good, refresh rate is fine, texts looks good, tracking is AWESOME. Overall it's tons of fun, just baby the cable cause it can get messed up over time. Great pc vr headset for the value. If you can't afford the hp g2 or the index, get this.

Amazing Introduction to VR!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start off by saying this thing will blow you away. It is so amazing how this headset can make you lose yourself in a game and completely forget about the real world. The tracking is better than the original rift and the display is amazing, but the tracking is far from perfect. Intense games of Gorn or any type of fighting game messes up the tracking quite a bit. This headset is amazing it just needs some time to become more polished and all the software flaws be taken care of. I personally love mine and am in love with VR. Motion sickness is definitely a concern with me, but only after intense sessions do I get sickness. It is pretty rough at first, but eventually you get used to it and you don’t get it anymore. Many games for it are expensive, but the steam summer sale saved me and I got all the top games for half off! All in all I would recommend anyone who wants to get into VR, just know that you will deal with some bugs here and there and that motion sickness eventually gets better.

Best VR visual I have used
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have Vive and Vive Pro and I have really enjoyed them. This new Rift S is significantly better. The visuals and feeling being total immersed are superior. The simplicity of connections and the use of their converter from mini to DP is seamless and looks great.

Great 1st VR headset
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So, I have listened to tech podcasts regarding VR headsets and platforms. I already have a PSVR and a Windows Mixed Reality headset. I like the Rift S. Setup was easy. Guardian is easy to setup. I think audio and microphone work and sound fine. Couple thoughts. I wish it used hdmi instead of display port. it will not connect or work with my Dell G3 laptop. Comfortable to wear. Wish the gasket of the face mask was made of a better material for cleaning. Wish the mask was easier to remove for cleaning. Display is crisp and clear. Oculus seems to have a polished product. This feels like a better solution compared to WMR and PSVR. I like the other solutions but this feels better for onboarding new VR users. Feels like you get good value for your money. I think for straight up PC use, this is better than a Quest connected to PC via link cable. I just hope Rift S is not a dead man walking because of Quest and the link cable.

The Rift S is easy to set up, and to get started.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the Rift S so I could play Half Life Alyx, and it ran wonderfully. It was very easy to set up and get started. The headset itself sits comfortably on my head and the built in tracking does a great job at tracking my movements and translating them ingame.

overall a good starter VR headset
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.image quality is not that great. tracking has been fine haven’t had any issues with that. the controller batteries died super quick. i’d recommend getting some rechargeable ones. the one issue i’ve had is when i’m done playing i usually leave it plugged into my PC and when i turn on my PC the next morning it always says it’s not connected or can’t find the headset. i usually have to reconnect it and restart my pc multiple times. it’s very annoying. so has not been very easy to use. but once it’s working it is a smooth process. I most likely won’t be keeping this and will end up exchanging it for another headset. especially with the quest 2 just being announced. save your money and buy that instead.

This is a dope product
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The clarity is sooo much better on the Rift S! The original rift felt like your vision was granulated and just out of focus. However, the Risft S is much more clear and it shows bc you feel as if you can stay in the VR realm longer. To add, it doesn't feel quite as taxing on your senses. To elaborate a bit with an analogy, you know how being outside in the elements for extended periods of time, wears down your physical/mental state.... that's how I felt on the original rift (strained and tired). I don't feel that way with the Rift S, not at all. Also, not having to mess with the sensor setup is sooo great! The original rift would send false positives with the sensors and you'd have to mess around with the setup and by then I'd either lose interest in playing or be running out of available gaming time. I'm an adult, I like gaming to unwind after my workday and I don't want to spend my free-time trying to problem solve a setup issue with the Rift. The Rift S solves this problem. No need for external sensors.....I'm really excited to experience how the tech evolves over time. If you have a good pc setup, Rift S is really worth it. There's other options too. I've heard a lot of good things about the Quest too (wireless standalone unless you get the link to connect to your pc). Needless to say, If you haven't experienced VR, then you really don't know what you're missing. As the tech gets better (lighter, resolution etc) the games will become longer and we'll start to see full AAA title released on VR. The potential for VR goes far beyond gaming too

Great fun when there aren't problems
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Rift S has a great screen, good resolution, and reduced screen door effect compared to other headsets. However, compared to PSVR, it's cumbersome to use. It's been buggy almost every time I use it. The screen often goes black and I have to disconnect and reconnect it to get it working again, or restart the Oculus service running in Windows. If you want VR you can just jump into, go with PSVR (if you have a PS4) or the Quest. That being said, if Oculus can patch the firmware to make it function more consistently, they'd have a phenomenal VR headset. Audio is lacking though for sure without headphones, which can be added. PC audio isn't smart enough to automatically switch back to speakers from the headset when you take it off. Great headset but so much room for improvement.

Really cool but known usb 3.0 issues
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had only once ever tried a VR and it was a phone style thing...wow this is way better. This purchase was a total impulse buy. The price is reasonable and the selection of available games is good. *Buyers beware that if your rig is a bit older(my desktop is 6 years old) you may have issue because of the USB 3.0 connection. After days of trial and error and contacting the useless Rift support I ended up buying a new pcie usb 3.0 card. That sorted the issues out. What a let down that they know about this issue and that it leaves some of us in the dark when the unit is supposed to be plug n'play. As a comparison the unit worked immediately on my 2 year old laptop but the issue was on my desktop(it has four available 3.0 slots). Google the 3.0 issue. *Also keep in mind that the connection is not HDMI but display port. They give you a mini display port adapter, so if your rig does not have display ports you will need to buy the appropriate adapter.

Great VR headset for starters!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don’t have much to say but it’s a great step up from PSVR cause of the free 360 turn! Games are great on the oculus store and not needing two sensors to track where you at because of the cameras on the headset. So basically it’s a great VR if you have a PC that can play VR games!

Great price on VR for users with PC to run it
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Initial setup is quick and easy, as it installs necessary files and updates firmware for unit if need be. 25-40 minutes Package contents: Rift S headset w/ included cable (USB 3.0/ Displayport) Controllers w/ lanyards (uses 1x AA battery each!) Mini DP adapter Manual and welcome guide The box itself functions as a nice storage unit if you do not use a third party solution already. Battery compartment uses neodymium magnets to stay in place, but may slip a little if in a movement intense game. Aftermarket grips recommended (Mamut or AMVR preferred cost between $21-35USD) The controllers themselves connect to the headset, so not external components needed and are a nice fit for people with meaty, larger hands. They have a semi-knuckle setup where finger placement determines hand action in-game, even if just gently touching the buttons. The headset and controllers will enter a "Sleep" state when not active and will fire right back up when you slip headset on (with Oculus app open) Cons: No physical IPD adjustment Lack of visor flip, but can be adjusted forward/backward with button underneath random notes: Has been plugged into PC since owning and have had no issues, mic works as intended. Halo headstrap has ample room for larger heads with a strap overhead as well for extra support!

Great VR!
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was my first time purchasing a VR headset, so I didn’t really know what to expect. To put it bluntly, my experience has been so great with this particular headset that I have jumped back in line to order a second one when the product is back in stock. For those who are into flightsims, the immersion with VR can’t be understated. Don’t wait, snag one when it’s back in stock. You won’t be disappointed.

Inside out tracking
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Before this headset I had the HTC Vive. I didnt like having to set up the little camera sensors on the wall to be able to track the headset and the controllers. I didnt like having to put wholes in the wall or having cables running all over the room. I really love the convenience of one cable and inside out tracking. Compatible with both Oculus store and Steam. Great price too!

Much more than a bang for your buck
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have seventeen year old we purchased this for. We done a little research and comparisons to other vr headsets and chose the oculus. So glad we did. It was super easy to setup. I works fine in our son's small bedroom. It is beyond the expectation we had. I recommend this headset for any gamer looking for top of the line graphics along with a huge game selection. Worth it!

First VR headset and it doesn't disappoint!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was debating returning this headset after a couple uses, thinking I'd not use it too often. Then I saw the trailer for Star Wars Squadrons and decided to keep it. Then the Steam sale happened and I picked up a few games and it's one of the coolest things I own! I upgraded my PC to make better use of it and I'm so glad I did. If you can find it in stock, definitely pick it up!

Not a Rift 2 but Very Good improvement!!!!
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I myself am looking forward to a true Rift 2 but this headset has impressed me more then I was expecting. The tracking is VERY good. I thought with the back of the headset not having tracking it was going to suck but the software picked up on every move that I did and I wasn't expecting it to work. I also was impressed with the Resolution of the headset. Much clearer then the CV1 Rift.

Great VR Headset
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently built a computer for myself to handle the Oculus Rift S. Here are my specs below for my computer: Intel i9 9900 processor ASUS GTX 2070 Super graphics card 32 GB of RAM 1 TB SSD I forget what motherboard I bought from Newegg Anyways, I think that covers my computer specs. Using the Oculus Rift S on this computer, I am experiencing some amazing graphics for VR. I have no troubles at all for motion sickness due to the graphics card. I still can get motion sickness if the developer didn’t use a great graphics engine on the game though. I’ve gotten into three great games so far which I highly recommend: 1.) Robo Recall 2.) Beat Saber 3.) Lone Echo I would put Asgard’s Wrath on there but with the developer going for a “playmat effect” for the ground and some sketchy bushes/trees effects for the graphics, I can’t justify myself giving this game up for a recommendation. I’m really excited to see new games coming into the Oculus Rift S like Lone Echo 2 and finally going out to buy the new Half Life game. Is this worth the money to get this VR Headset? If you’re like me and get sick on the PlayStation VR, then yes, this would be a better choice in the long run. I just wish there were more main stream games developed for Oculus Rift meaning that some bigger developer studios get into the VR game development.

Great first VR
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The only issue I have with the new Rift S headset is that there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of software support and 3rd party support. It will still work with 3rd party software but there will be slight inconsistencies. Such as in steam, the steam setup for VR works but it's a pain because the steam still recognizes it as a regular rift headset so it still somehow picks up the outside in cameras . This should All be fixed within a few months to a years time considering this is the new Flagship VR system for Oculus. As for the expeirence, it works very well, very immersive. Sometimes there can be some stuttering but it's hard to say if that's the headset, the game, or the vr software. I give the headset a 8/10. I would recommend it. The cord did get a bit annoying for me so I did end up purchasing a cheap 20 dollar ceiling harness for the cable from a 3rd party vendor that's not Oculus or Bestbuy
