Birthday gift
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Loving every second of using the rift and it is very comfortable. The only downside is occasionally tripping over the cable but solved by changing the guardian setup.

Look elsewhere for good PC-based VR
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A slight improvement over the previous gen, however "god rays"/light blur is still an issue. The controllers drain batteries constantly. The tracking works quite well. Facebook has decided to discontinue the Rift-S in early 2021, so I would advise looking elsewhere for good PC-based VR.

Didn’t work for me...
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was using an MSI GS65 to run the VR but couldn’t get more than a few minutes before the headset would go black. I tried many many things but nothing worked and the customer service was very slow in getting back so I returned the RIft. As it turned out the MSI mini displayport was the problem and I had to replace the MSI.

Dont buy ....horrible customer service
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Normally I never write reviews but after my experience with both BB and Oculus my only recommendation is buyer beware. Understand that I have purchased thousands of dollars form BB and have been shocked at the total lack of ownership from these guys. My sons unit has had both hardware and software issues almost from day one that cannot be fixed. The units have a constant buzzing and static and crash regularly. So unless you buy a plan from BB forget about any help from these guys and since you dont buy it directly from Oculus good luck with that too. "We are not the manufacturer only the reseller....." They have lost us as customers so my advice is buy from Amazon

Beware Touch controllers are fragile
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Headset works great. one huge issue is the touch controllers are very easy to break. the hoop will crake very easy. I have the original Rift and the touch controllers are very durable. Now it seams Oculus is discontinuing the Rift S so replacements are not available.

Barely Works
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just before receiving this headset, my brother had gotten the Oculus Quest. That headset has worked almost flawlessly since the day we got it. However, it can't play PCVR games; it has issues with some of the games when connected using the cable, but at least it still worked standalone. Because of that, I wanted a PCVR only headset, and the obvious choice was the Rift S, after the overall good experience with the Quest. Setup was easy enough. Paired to the computer just fine, at first, and controllers were paired up almost immediately. Tried out the "first steps" thing, and I had a feeling I had made a good purchase, and everything was going to be fine with this headset. The only positive experience I had with this headset was at the beginning. Everything else, as I will state below, has been a nightmare and a half to deal with. At random moments, usually from 5-30 minutes, the vision of the headset would either turn completely black or static. I had heard this to be an issue, and using some online help had that issue resolved. It would still happen, but it was more rare than common. But then I noticed the headset constantly disconnecting, having a notification on my PC saying something along the lines of "The Displayport cable has been disconnected. Please reconnect the headset.", even though the headset was still connected to the PC. It would then automatically reconnect. THIS HAPPENED CONSTANTLY. No matter what I did, following every online guide I could find with this issue, it persisted. The minutes I had to play PCVR games were great, until they would suddenly crash. Sometimes there would not be a black screen or static, and the game would just freeze and boot me out to the home screen. I cannot tell if this is a software issue, or is the fault of the hardware, as I had not seen many people complaining about games constantly crashing. My opinion is that the hardware is at fault. The controllers were another issue. They themselves are fine enough controllers, as I was able to handle them and move around easily. However, they, like the displayport, would randomly not work; or rather, not track accurately. No arm movements, left hand movements tracking as right hand movements, and leaning forwards caused the display to go backwards, making that whole event extremely disorienting. There was a solution to this that I had found, involving rubber bands on the batteries themselves, and while it did lessen the chances of it happening, it still happened. I had found no other solution for this problem. I can excuse the headset's other flaws, like the cheap feel of the material, and the lack of an IPD slider, as I really didn't care for those, if at least I would be able to play PCVR games. It is a shame too, cause when the headset worked, it worked beautifully. VR truly is a wonderful experience, but I simply cannot handle how many times I was taken out of that experience from the issues mentioned above. This probably isn't the fault of Best Buy or Oculus themselves, nor do I believe the device is supposed to act like this. I think I had been given a defective unit, since I haven't seen any other reviewer mention these problems. Which is why I am selling this device, even after having it for only a week. At least I can still play on the Quest just fine. Games played: Beat Saber, VRChat, Skyrim VR, Tetris Effect, Thumper.

||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far so good, it definitely helps if you have a faster or better gaming pc to handle some of the vr games. My son loves playing on it.
