I tried an Alpine radio initially but it had a lot of problems with call quality and connection with Android Auto. I went back to Pioneer and have not had any issues since. I'll stick to what works.

This device was inexpensive and has Apple CarPlay, but there are two primary things I don’t like about the device. 1. The glare from the sun is terrible. I must often hold my hand out to cast a shadow on the screen so I can see the Google Maps display. Not very safe as my eyes are off the road longer to get my hand in the right spot and THEN read the screen. 2. The colors of the CarPlay icons are overly bright variants of the colors on the actual iPhone. This isn’t a huge deal, but I have used many rental cars with CarPlay, and I have never seen a car stereo with such an off color palette. There is no color control on the unit either. You get what you pay for, and I don’t plan on returning the unit. I would advise shoppers to investigate some alternatives though. I will also try and buy an anti-glare screen protector and see if that helps issue #1.
