Beware, says it has Apple CarPlay. Which I guess is technically true. But you have to plug it in, no Bluetooth Apple CarPlay connection. Which would be fine if it actually recognizes I have my phone plugged in. I have to keep toggling back and forth between Bluetooth and my plugged in CarPlay for it to finally recognize it. Good forbid you get a phone call, because that cut out. Goes from CarPlay to Bluetooth and then end up with me not being able to connect either. So lesson is don’t go cheap. I used to have another Panasonic that was double the price. But my CarPlay connected wirelessly when I started that car and what I was previously listening to started right up without my having to go to my phone to start it

You are correct, the DMH-1500NEX does not have Wireless Apple CarPlay or Wireless Android Auto.
When you plug in your iPhone for Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth is turned off. This is required by Apple.
Please contact our Product Support at 1-800-421-1404, select option 1.
They will provide troubleshooting assistance for the issues you are having.
