It sounds like to the device is not functioning as expected. The Ring Alarm Contact Sensor (2nd Gen.) is designed to work with the Ring Alarm Base Station to be keep your entrances secure. The Ring Alarm Base Station is required to connect and configure the sensor.

The build quality is very fragile if it falls from where you put 9 times out of ten it will stop working properly, and thats even if it works out of the box properly. I had to mess up on me, one drained battery waay to fast and the other always said door was open. Had to return both. The new ones have been working good so far. I wish ring would make a better locking mechanism to keep it attached because its too easy to remove.

Based on your review, it seems that you would like the Ring Alarm Contact Sensor to be sold in a singular pack and also that you are having trouble with a sensor saying open when it is not. We would like to note that Bestbuy offers the contact sensor in a 1-pack option. Also, if you notice your contact sensor is saying open when the door is physically closed, we recommend checking to see if the notches on the sensor are lined up properly. If the notches are not lined up properly, it may cause the sensor to provide incorrect readings. Ring Door sensor

The Ring Alarm Base Station is required to use any Ring Alarm components, including the Ring Alarm Contact Sensor. The Ring Alarm components utilize z-wave to connect to the Ring Base Station, and the Ring Base Station uses wifi to communicate information to you via the Ring App.
