Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand the importance of a seamless setup process so that you can begin using your Ring Contact Sensor right away. The features and technology provided by the Ring Alarm Contact Sensor (2nd Gen.) are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We want to ensure your device is working as intended by providing you with solutions to resolve the concern you mentioned in your review.
It sounds like the device is not functioning as intended. Monitor movement inside your home when a door or window is opened or closed with Ring Alarm Contact Sensors.
If your Ring Alarm Contact Sensor (2nd Generation) won't connect or is added as a binary sensor, please follow these steps:
Remove the contact sensor from its base.
Ensure that the batteries are installed.
Open the Ring app.
Tap the menu (☰).
Tap "Devices."
Tap "Alarm Base Station" or "Alarm Pro Base Station."
Tap "Base Station."
Tap the "Device Settings" tile.
Tap "Advanced Options."
Tap "Z-Wave," then tap "Remove Z-Wave Device."
Tap "Remove." The Ring app will say, “Remove device, listening for device to remove.”
Do not tap “Reset Z-Wave Network.” This will remove your entire Ring Alarm network, and you’ll need to reset every device.
Press and release the pinhole reset button. The device should be removed successfully and can be re-added using the Ring app.
If the contact sensor is still waiting or attempting to connect to the Ring app, the Ring app is prompting you to perform a factory reset.
To perform a factory reset, please follow these steps:
Slide the Ring Alarm Contact Sensor (2nd Gen.) off of its base. Ensure that the batteries are installed.
Press and hold the pinhole reset button.
Continue holding down the pinhole reset button until the LED light turns red, then release.
Re-add the sensor to your Ring Alarm using the Ring app.
While repeating the setup process, you will be prompted to pull the battery tab. You may have to use a small tool, such as a microscrewdriver, to carefully remove the coin-cell batteries from the casing of your contact sensor, then reinsert them.

Can't Attached old/used sensors to new base unit

Apparently, you can't attached old/used sensors to a new unit, but you have to replace all the parts when replacing the base unit. Not happy.

It sounds like you are experiencing an issue with connecting your existing Ring Alarm sensors to your new Ring Alarm Pro Base Station. You can use your existing sensors with your new Ring Alarm Pro Base Station. You will need to factory reset each one prior to adding them to the network. Not for my system

My Ring Alarm contact sensors

High Tech

ing Alarm Contact Sensors are designed to keep doors and windows in homes and businesses secure. The Contact Sensor is made up of two parts - the Sensor and the Magnet. One part should be mounted on the door or window, the other on the trim. It doesn't matter which one goes where, but you want to make sure the sensor and magnet are mounted close enough together in order to function properly.
When mounting the Ring Alarm Contact Sensor (1st generation), make sure the notches are lined up. Do not use the Ring Contact Sensor on the side of the door with the Hinge. Also make sure to use Ring Contact Sensors indoors, they not intended for outdoor use. You can install the Ring Contact Sensor using the included mounting tape or screws and anchors.
The 1st generation sensor and magnet should be no more than 1/2" apart. The 2nd generation Ring Contact sensor and magnet should be no more than 1" apart.

Ridiculous

Great product when you have all parts.

Limits if you don't pay for subscription

I want complete control of my own monitoring not to be limited because I choose not to pay a company. I also returned because the price $100...you might as well pay for the full alarm system $150.

Spend additional $119.99 to make it work!!

I realized it when installed it in Ring App. This is totally different from Ring doorbell and security cams which does not require any additional accessory! I will return it soon.

The Ring Alarm Contact Sensor (2nd Gen.) configures to the Ring Alarm Base Station through a Z-Wave frequency to provide you with alerts to activity throughout your home.
