The wireless outdoor Ring camera is absolutely amazing! It offers crystal-clear video quality with night vision, so you can always see what’s happening around your home, day or night. The wireless setup makes installation super easy—no messy wires or complicated tools needed. Plus, its motion detection is incredibly accurate, sending instant alerts right to your phone. The weather-resistant design means it stands up to rain, snow, or heat without any issues. Overall, it’s a reliable, smart security solution that gives you peace of mind wherever you are. Highly recommend!
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand how important it is for your Ring Battery Doorbell to function consistently and reliably, so you can effectively monitor your home. The features and technology provided by the Ring Battery Doorbell are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We want to ensure your device is working as intended by providing you with solutions to resolve the concern you mentioned in your review.
It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. As cold weather sets in, lithium-ion batteries like those used in Ring Doorbells and Security Cameras may experience several issues, including trouble holding a charge, running out of power faster than normal, or losing functionality. Knowing at what temperature batteries will start to be impacted can help you take the necessary steps to keep your device working. When the temperature drops to:
36°F (3°C): The battery may not hold a charge as effectively, resulting in having to charge the unit more frequently. 32°F (0°C): The battery may not charge at all. Even hardwired configurations may not charge the battery. -5°F (-20.5°C): The battery may stop working completely until temperatures warm up.
When it gets cold and your device's battery runs out, bring your entire device inside and charge the battery with a USB cord. This will allow your device to warm up while the battery charges.

I saw a lot of bad reviews on TikTok about ring, but I still decided to go with the most known doorbell cam out there. It was very easy to install, and easy to use as well. When you 1st set it up, you’ll get a month free of the app and its features before you have to pay for the subscription and there are affordable options to choose from. I also like that there are great neighborhood notifications, when set properly, that will keep you in the know of what’s happening around you. My only wish is that it would connect to other brands for security concerns. I chose the bronze finish and it is beautiful. The videos are clear at night just as they are during the day. LOVE THAT. I recommend purchasing a door mount that is renter friendly and also easy to set up.

Ring - Battery Doorbell Smart Wi-Fi Video Doorbell
Summary: Peace-of-mind visibility for your front door.
Use: We recently sold our home which I had installed a vast set of Ring ecosystem products including but not limited to Ring Doorbell (wired), Ring Base Station and keypad with security service subscription, Floodlight Cam, Cameras (wired), Cameras (battery). These products proved to be more reliable than any other brand I tried. So, when we moved into an apartment in another state, we needed something that would be allowed and that would work without being wired. The Ring Battery Doorbell fit that need to a T. We have the device mounted across from our front-door to allow us clear visibility of our front-door without having it view more than needed (i.e. into the courtyard where neighboring unit's windows and balconies are visible). Had we mounted the unit directly on our front-door, we would have used the black out privacy feature (which worked well in other implementations).
Why did I get a Ring Doorbell for my apartment? Mainly for packages! Also, given the unique walk-up/courtyard, there shouldn't ever be any persons other than ourselves, or our dogs come into view. This allows us to get notifications when that space is entered - this grants us time to stow the doggies and accept packages. Being alerted to packaged delivery would be the second reason.
Pros:
* Portability. The form factor is reasonable, and it is extremely portable. The mounting/dismounting bracket tool makes it easy to snap the unit off and on for charging.
* Battery Life. Though I've only had the unit about a week, in that time only a percentage point or two of battery has dropped. We've increased some sensitivity to register more movement and to allow live snapshots, but it was a recent change and so it is unclear just how much of a drain those features will be. Two days configured like this and the combined battery life since install is 96%. I'm anticipating having to recharge this every few months at this rate.
* Volume. The speaker volume for two-way and notifications (doorbell press) is more than adequate. Though this isn't a feature we anticipate needing often.
* Video Quality. As is often the case with battery units, the video quality is mostly stable and detailed enough. For monitoring activity like package delivery and identification, I feel it does fine.
* App. There is a single app to manage all of your Ring devices. It even integrates with Amazon Prime deliveries, if enabled. It even enables the management of user codes for compatible door locks.
* Ecosystem. The ecosystem is rich with a product to cover virtually any need. Definitely a good buy if you're interested in expanding the system.
* Mounting Bracket. The mounting bracket is different than the ones I've seen with other models. Instead of a special star tip driver to remove the faceplate/device, you need a special tool that is curved. This tool reaches up into the device to release a latch that allows the unit to be removed from the mounting bracket. This makes potential theft a bit more tricky (though obviously not impossible).
Cons:
* Lag. I've noticed some lag in video display when clicking Live-View. This is typical of all wireless doorbells, though, and common for battery powered ones, in particular.
* Outdoor placement. The first day, I thought I'd just prop the unit inside my windowsill to see how it did with detection. Sure, no one would be able to press the doorbell, but I just wanted to get it going to see how it did until I had time to mount it the next day (it arrived late afternoon). Well... it doesn't work from inside a window. It wouldn't detect any motion through single-paned glass. It would record and visibility was great when manually viewing the camera, but it simply won't detect any movement from behind glass. I figured the IR sensor might be to blame. Obviously, not a deal breaker and I realize that their regular stick-up cams would be purpose built - but I guess I was still surprised!
* Local Storage. I know the Base Station can now support local processing of videos. A local storage option would be great for people with less reliable connections, or that aren't interested in the security offering, or that don't want to pay a monthly subscription for features they might not use.
I had reservations about a battery powered doorbell. I've tested several other major brand competitor products and while there are some common pitfalls (latency/lag for battery devices), Ring products are superior and more reliable than any of the others. I'm pleased to say that this version is a marked upgrade from other battery powered doorbells offered by Ring and its competitors. I definitely recommend it if you can't install a wired unit.

Very easy to install and set up. The video quality is clear, motion detection works well, and notifications arrive instantly on my phone. Battery life is good and the wireless connection is stable. Great value for the price. Highly recommended.

I have been sing Ring products for our home for over a year now, and our new home has multiple areas that require camera coverage. Having the Battery Doorbell Smart has been such a great relief for us, knowing that I can see that half of our property with very clear image and video quality. When opening the package, I was met with the standard Ring camera design. I noticed that this was much slimmer to my other Ring door camera. Setting up was very simple and easy since I already have the app and other devices. I like that you can have all of your devices on the app show multiple coverages and the ability to see the live feed or real time notifications. What really set me over the moon was the battery charges via usb-c! Other Ring devices still use the microsd charging cable and I was very happy now that this has been upgraded.
Mounting the plate to my fence was a little concerning for me. I began screwing it on each corner with the included screws when I noticed that after just one screw, the plat began to bend. I quickly screwed in the opposite corner and then the rest so now it was flushed with the gate. Due to the momentary warp, the camera did not slide in as easy. It did with little moving around and now it was connected to the plate. To remove it, you are given a small orange key pin that wedges inside in order to open it.
The image and video quality is great. It records video in 2k quality which is great. This has an enhanced camera so now you get more whole body capturing, not just the upper torso of someone, also, the night vision quality is up to 19ft which takes it all the way to my sidewalk. Having it on the door it gets plenty hot here, thankfully it can withstand up to 122 degrees Fahrenheit (so far not that hot). Battery life has been really excellent, having it installed and running for the past two weeks, battery life is currently at 85%.
A great addition to the Ring family. I do wish the little key hook would have been something more larger, but at least it can hook to your keys so you would not lose it.

I purchased this Ring camera and it has been one of the best decisions for my home. The video quality is clear during the day and at night, and the motion detection is very accurate without sending too many false alerts. The app is easy to use, and I love being able to check in on my home no matter where I am.
Installation was simple and took only a few minutes. The two-way audio works well and allows me to talk to visitors or delivery drivers even when I’m not home. I really appreciate the extra sense of security it provides for my family.
Overall, this Ring camera has great performance, reliable alerts, and helpful features. I definitely recommend it for anyone looking to improve their home security.

I recently upgraded to the Ring Battery Doorbell in Venetian Bronze, and I couldn't be happier. The finish looks great on my front door — elegant and modern without standing out too much.
Setup was quick and painless, and since it’s battery-powered, I didn’t need to mess with any wiring. The head-to-toe video is a big improvement — I can see packages left on the ground and get a full view of whoever’s at the door.
The motion detection is accurate, the live view loads quickly, and the two-way talk is clear. I also love the flexibility of monitoring everything from the Ring app, even when I’m not home.
Battery life has been solid, and it’s easy to recharge when needed. Overall, a fantastic smart doorbell that gives me peace of mind and looks great doing it!

I’ve been using the Ring Doorbell for a few months now, and I couldn’t be happier with the purchase. The installation was super easy—even for someone who’s not very tech-savvy—and the app is incredibly user-friendly. I get instant notifications whenever someone approaches my door, and the video quality is crystal clear, both during the day and at night.
The two-way audio feature is a game-changer. I can talk to delivery drivers or visitors even when I’m not home, which adds a great layer of convenience and security. I also love the motion detection—it’s customizable, so I don’t get unnecessary alerts.
Overall, the Ring Doorbell has given me peace of mind and made my home feel much safer. Highly recommend to anyone looking to upgrade their home security!

I have a couple of previous generation Ring doorbells and cosmetically, this latest version doesn’t look much different and is still appealing. It can be hardwired, but I like that it is also wireless and operates by battery since I don’t want to run wiring where I wanted it installed. The doorbell comes with everything you need to install it – doorbell, mount, screws, charging cable (but no electrical plug), and the tool needed to remove the doorbell for charging.
I’ll go ahead and say right here that I think having to remove the entire unit for charging is a very inconvenient design flaw for battery users. I much prefer the removable battery as it greatly minimizes the doorbell’s down time when you have a spare battery charged and ready to go. It’s better to be down for a few minutes than several hours or more while the doorbell recharges. Of course, one could always purchase a compatible solar charging kit, but to me, that’s only charges as well as the light it gets. If you can place the solar panel in an optimal area, then you won’t have to remove the doorbell as much for charging.
Since I already have the Ring app and Alexa devices, once the battery was fully charged, installation and syncing were pretty quick and easy. I had to drill a couple of holes to attach the wall mount, but that only took a few minutes. Scan the QR code on the back of the doorbell, follow the app prompts and you’re, connect to Wi-Fi, and you’re set.
The video quality is better than previous versions in that it picks up more area and more of a person’s body. The night vision is slightly better also, but audio quality is about the same for both two-way talk and live view. A Ring cloud subscription is still needed for video recording retention though.
Now, my reason for not giving this doorbell version a higher rating. Remember that plastic removal tool that it comes with? It works great, but the doorbell can also very, very easily be removed with a paperclip, or dare I even say it…a toothpick. (Yes, we tried removing it with both). This design flaw poses a major security risk, especially when the doorbell’s primary purpose is monitoring point of entry. Ring needs to go back to the drawing board on this point. Using the previous removal tool may have taken a few minutes longer to remove the doorbell, but I’d prefer that than the mere seconds it takes with the new design. Quicker removal does not equal safety and security here.

I recently purchased this Ring camera from Best Buy, and I’m extremely happy with the performance. The video quality is very clear both during the day and at night. Motion detection is fast and accurate, and the notifications come through instantly on my phone.
Installation was simple — it only took a few minutes, and the app walks you through everything step by step. The two-way audio works perfectly, and the camera feels very sturdy and well-made.

This Ring Battery Doorbell is the latest refresh of Ring's Smart Video Doorbells, which have become almost a must-have for anyone. Having that peace of mind that you can always check in on any package delivery and knowing that it will be there waiting for you to get home or knowing when people stop by or having the option to talk through the speaker to them in real time add that additional level of security that make it well worth having. The new refresh brings better battery life and wider "head to toe" viewing angles, both of which seem to be accurate from what I can tell from my use.
Ring has made set up super simple to follow along with in the app and they always have sales going on too, so you can always wait and get one at a lower price, but they are well worth the regular price anyway. The previous owners of my house had left behind a bracket for their ring camera, so I had been looking to get one anyway. I was happy to see that the new bracket lined up perfectly to the pre-existing mounting holes, so I used the same screws that were already in the front wall and didn't have to drill any new ones. I charged the new doorbell and popped it right on and followed the rest of the set-up through the ring app. The app has tons of information available about the doorbell and you can configure away to your liking on what you want to receive notifications for and the area you want to monitor, etc. I have it set up to get alerts when someone is near or of course pushes the button and it also records those moments in the ring app. I like being able to check in and watch live from work if I want to. I even got a notification about it picking up a person on my porch and when I went to watch it, it was 3 little kittens running around playing. It was a nice break to sit there and watch them play before running off. Other than that one time though, the software has been very good at detecting actual humans and not picking up cars or people walking down the sidewalk or anything like that as people approaching the door. I live on a busy street so I had wondered about how it might affect that, but it has done a great job so far.
In conclusion, I think these Ring Doorbell cameras have become kind of a no brainer to have for anyone. It is a small expense that over the long run becomes very useful to have. The doorbell comes with a free trial of "Ring Protect", but even without the subscription, I think it;s still worth having.

This is my second video doorbell from Ring. This latest model has an internal battery and can be used wirelessly or hardwired versus my hardwire-only unit. The unit comes with a USB-C charging cable, release tool, wall mounting bracket, security sticker and installation hardware.
Note that it doesn’t come with a USB wall adapter, but you can plug it into any powered USB port for charging. There are screw terminals adjacent to the charging port giving you the option to hardwire the doorbell for permanent power instead. This is convenient if you already have existing wiring and a compatible transformer, so you won’t have to take the doorbell down to charge it. The doorbell unhooks from its mount with a simple press of the tab on the underside, which doesn’t specifically require the included release tool; a flathead screwdriver would work just fine, but that means it isn’t secured well against theft or tampering. The amount of time the batteries last will depend on your settings, ambient temperature, and how often video is recorded or the camera is accessed and for how long; on average the battery life of mine decreases by about 2% each day.
You’ll need to download and install the Ring mobile app to a smart device in order to setup the doorbell. App setup takes around 5 minutes and requires you to create or log in to a Ring account, while installing and mounting of the camera took me an additional 5 minutes to complete. You can optionally link your Ring and Amazon accounts, which enables features like Alexa voice commands and Amazon Key In-Garage Delivery.
The purchase and setup of a new Ring camera includes a 30-day free trial of a Ring Protect Plan, regardless of whether or not you’ve had a trial in the past (current subscribers excluded). The plan offers video history up to 180 days for every Ring camera in your home, 24-hour event summaries, discounts on other Ring products, and multi-cam live view. You’ll also be able to enable smart alerts that detect people, packages, or general motion with the option to record and/or send an alert for these events; every live view session will also automatically be recorded. Videos and snapshots within your history interval will be stored on the cloud where you can download them at any time while you have an active subscription. Without a plan, you’ll only be able to watch live view of the doorbell and respond to motion and doorbell notifications when they happen in real-time, but video is not recorded or saved.
The integrated camera features a head-to-toe, wide field of view with 1440p HD video, color night vision, and 2-way talk. The video is square and its frame size is 1440 x 1440 pixels. The visible image is circular with vignetting of the corners (blacked out) and a slight fisheye effect that causes distortion of proportions as you move outward from the center of the image. This, however, is an acceptable trade-off in order to view nearly straight down to the area beneath the doorbell, making it more likely that packages placed there will be visible on camera. There are wedges for the mount, sold separately, that you can use to tilt the camera to face a different angle, if needed.
When someone is standing in front of the doorbell camera, in live view you can use 2-way talk to communicate through the app and the unit’s built-in microphone. Audio quality is good, and you can generally hear and understand conversations in front of and directed at the doorbell. The speaker quality on the doorbell is also pretty loud and clear so your visitor should have no trouble hearing you.
When the doorbell button is pressed, I receive push notifications on my phone, and the Alexa speakers throughout my home "ring" and make an announcement. Announcements can be enabled for person or motion detection, though you can customize detection zones separately for motion, people, and packages to lower the incidence of nuisance alerts. At night, the night vision infrared lights create a black and white image that is as bright, detailed, and clear as daytime footage. Optionally, you can enable color night vision which adds color to the image, though note that this will not retroactively add color to previously recorded nighttime video with the setting turned off.
Overall, the Ring Battery Doorbell (2024) is a decent smart doorbell camera with good audio and video quality but requires a subscription to get the most out of it. As a doorbell, all of my Alexa speakers become chimes, and I don’t have to run any wires. However, I can always convert it to be permanently powered by wire if I don’t want to keep taking the doorbell down to charge the battery every few months. With a subscription I can rest assured that I'll be notified of events like motion, people, and packages and have recordings going back 6 months.

This is our 3rd ring product in our ecosystem, we also have a wired flood light and battery powered stick up camera. This doorbell was easy to add to our app, just charge it when you get it, once you detach it from the power cord, it will automatically enter pairing mode for you to join it from the app. If the paring mode does time out, you can still scan the QR code on the back of the doorbell to also get it added to the ring app that way as well.
Since my door molding is not wide enough to mount the camera to, I do have the ring's siding mount coming in the mail. For testing, we held the camera against the siding and took a photo to figure out what height we will need to mount this at when the siding mount does arrive. Overall, the view didn't seem to change moving the camera higher or lower by a foot in either direction.
I did take stars off for 3 reasons, 1) because this has an integrated battery, once the battery needs to be replaced, you will basically need to toss the entire device and purchase a new one, instead of just getting a new replacement battery; 2) the battery did lose 6% in 9 days without anyone "ringing" the bell or us using the live view feature more than 2-3 times & to charge the battery, you need to use a special removal tool (in the box) to detach it from the mount to bring the entire doorbell into the house for charging, and 3) the kit didn't come with a mount to attach this device to siding, so I have a separate order with that mount coming in the mail/separate purchase.
If all of these annoy you as well, then look at the pro-grade cameras...for now, the pro version still has a replaceable battery that can easily be swapped in without having to remove your doorbell every 30, 60, or 90 days to charge it.
Hi Vibranium. We understand how important it is to have peace of mind when it comes to your home’s security. The features and technology provided by the Ring Battery Doorbell are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We are here today to provide you with information to assist you in finding the best solution for your home’s environment. While batteries in Ring devices can go months between recharges with normal use, this is dependent on a number of factors in your home's environment such as the local weather and the number of activities captured. The more events captured by your Ring Battery Doorbell, the more your battery is used to power the live HD video stream to your device. Even if you do not answer the call, video is still sent from your Ring product to the Ring servers. In addition, the battery is also drained each time you use the live view to look or speak through your camera. As most of our Ring cameras and doorbells are powered by lithium-ion batteries, it's important to note that at temperatures below 40 °F, the battery is less effective at holding a charge and may require more frequent recharges. If any additional information is needed regarding your Ring Battery Doorbell, please reach out to our community. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their feedback and experiences directly with Ring. Really happy with this Ring Battery Doorbell. Setup was quick and straightforward, and it connected to Wi-Fi without any issues. The video quality is clear, and the head-to-toe view is a nice feature that makes it easy to see packages and visitors fully.
Live view works smoothly, notifications are responsive, and the two-way talk is clear and easy to use. The battery-powered design is convenient, especially if you don’t want to deal with wiring. The satin nickel finish also looks clean and modern on the door.
Overall, it does exactly what it’s supposed to do and feels like a solid, reliable smart doorbell. I’d definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a simple and effective home security upgrade.

I have always wanted a video doorbell but wasn’t entirely sure where to start there are many on the market and with a handful of ring cameras I didn’t think I would need one. I know there are a whole lot of versions of this available and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but I must admit I am very pleased.
:::General Thoughts:::
If you have owned a ring camera then you should know what to expect in terms of reliability and the product overall. I have stick up cameras and I have bought some new and refurbished and luckily not even one has failed me yet.
Everything you need is in the box, bracket, usb type c cable, doorbell itself and a quick release hook to remove the doorbell from the bracket. It took less than five minutes to install the bracket, and about two hours to charge the doorbell itself with the built in battery. The doorbell itself snapped in place and is sturdy and setup is as easy as it gets especially if you have other devices.
It is worth noting that this model is not the one with the quick release battery. That may or may not be a big deal to you so please take that into account if that is a feature you desire.
Charging the doorbell camera was easy with the included usb c cable and it has a neat charging battery indicator on the doorbell button. It displays the battery life in a circular ring and it will let you know once it has been fully charged.
I have two cameras facing different views of my front entrance and added a doorbell camera and I love it. Most of the blind spots I had are now gone, and with the wide angle lens the camera has it is impressive and I feel the clarity is a tad better than the stick-up cameras I have.
:::Pros & Cons:::
Pros:
- Easy to install
- Long lasting battery
- Two-way talk
- Good resolution
- Alexa compatible
- Excellent night viewing
Cons:
- Non removable battery
Most people should be familiar with ring cameras they have a lot to offer like Alexa compatibility. Being able to view your camera from an echo device (5,8,10,15) is a neat feature and you can talk to your guest or visitor from there too. It is a nice feature if your phone is not nearby. It is also worth noting that there is a subscription service that is essential to get the most out of your device.
Like all my other cameras calls are clear and the audio is crisp.
I noticed that my apartment has old school thick walls that do not allow for the best wireless signal strength. I went and bought a ring chime pro to aid with that I am hoping that will improve the signal strength of my outdoor cameras.
:::Closing Thoughts:::
Overall, the ring doorbell is a great addition to my home as it allows me to monitor what is happening at my front door and see if packages are left there and communicate with food delivery service drivers. The viewing angle is amazing and does truly work as advertised with head to toe viewing angles. I hope the battery will last for years that is pretty much my only concern as with this model it can not be removed. I will most certainly replace with a newer model in the future with a quick release battery version.
:::TL;DR:::
You want a video doorbell that works and is easy to install and use and is reliable with lots of features then look no further.
