Best handheld I have ever bought. Would definitely recommend it

Sony continues to be unable to impress with their handheld options. The PS is so great that I keep hoping they can nail a handheld system, but this is not it. We got it for my daughter for Xmas and the connection was glitchy, the screen images were subpar and the whole experience was laggy if that makes sense. At under $200, it’s not terribly expensive, but if you’re hoping to be able to play your PS5 games outside of your house or even in another room in your own house, don’t hold your breath that this is going to be what you hope it will be, it isn’t.

This is NOT a PS5 dedicated Switch. It doesn't travel beyond the boundaries of your home WiFi network. This is made clear in the literature, but often overlooked. That said, it is nice to be able to access the PS5 from anywhere in the house and at anytime, especially if the PS5 is connected to a TV that is used for other purposes. This means that no matter who else is using that TV at the time, you can still play your PS5 games. The unit, itself, has comfortable and familiar controls, and the screen is vivid and easy to view over an extend play-session. If you have strong WiFi through out the house, there is little if any lag or stuttering. I think of this item as a "gadget" to help extend my opportunity to access my PS5. It also helps keep the peace when there is a conflict between the TV watchers and the gamers.

The PS Portal has a beautiful display with high resolution. The controls feel just like a PS5 controller. Battery Life was longer than I expected. This product only falls short with its WiFi capabilities. Seem that the only way to avoid disconnecting, resolution loss, freezing and pixelation is to be on a strong home WiFi network. Even if your cell phone hotspot reads at 100+ meg net speed. The wireless signal isn’t sufficient to avoid all these problems I encountered. Limiting the portability aspect which is a big let down. Another thing I wasn’t aware of is that you PS5 has to be on at home while you use on the go. I’m leaning more to a 3.5 star rating tbh. The PS Portal would easily be a 5 star if it worked on cell networks without trouble but this is not what I found to be the case.

I purchased one of these for a couple reasons. One, so I didn't have to haul my ps5 back and forth from mine to my boyfriends house. And 2, so that I can still keep an eye on my kids while playing, but allowing them to be able to use the TV. Its a win win. The product works great, amazing quality of video, easy to connect to system and so simple and portable. The only issue I've had, is while being away from my ps5 (in another house) it is very hard to play. It does work, but the connection isn't consistent and it's constantly losing connection to the ps5. Besides that, I have zero complaints!

I definitely agree with a lot of reviews I’ve seen about this. This is a great device if a PS5 is your main device and you are a parent, or someone who makes time to game before bed. There have been days where there just isn’t time for me to sit on the couch, but I can play a little winding down for the night in bed! The screen is very nice, and the internal audio is solid enough. I also already have a pair of Pulse headphones which really helps! I wouldn’t play an FPS on here, as there is a little input lag that throws off timing, but I’ve really enjoyed playing single player games on here. A Steam Deck certainly does more, but this device definitely has a place in a lot of people’s homes!

Great for gaming at the house with a good wifi connection of your primary TV is being used. I wouldn't recommend trying to use it outside of your residence.

I was initially against the PlayStation Portal and didn't see a real use for it. Lately I've been working a lot more and I haven't been able to game until nighttime. The downside is that I'll get all setup to play, but then want to just crawl into bed. With this device, I've been able to play in bed before sleeping and it's been such a gamechanger. I guess when it launched it had some issues with how it would connect to public Wi-Fi, but they've since patched a fix for it. I highly recommend this as it's turned to my favorite way to play games.

Really love the controls and the design overall of the device, however, my Internet is not reliable enough to consistently hold a signal with my PS five. I found that streaming games over the cloud was actually better than remote play. However, remote play was the primary reason I bought it. For some reason, the remote play app on my Lenovo Legion go S actually performance is way more consistently than this device did. I’m not sure why it could just come down to the Wi-Fi chip being more current. Still I would recommend this device if you have a really solid mesh network in your home.
